Hello.
I've got a HP DL380G6 E5530 2.40 GHz running ESXi 5.5.0. Build 1623387.
ESX is currently giving a warning that the firmware for the storage controller is at 6.00.
So I'm trying to use SPP 0605.106 to update this to 6.64 which seems to be the current flavour. Specifically CP026508.
Initially I try this online but after an inventory it says everything on the node is current after adding this to the baseline.
I've tried a reboot on the grounds that maybe it was installed but not rebooted and applied. Still the same.
Next I've tried offline via the USB boot and chose interactive update.
It then seemed to hang on the HP splash screen with a cursor for an hour and a half.
I could see the activity on the drives changing, almost as if doing an inventory.
In the end I had to power off and restart as the maintenance window had passed.
Two questions.
Why would the inventory say all firmware is current?
Would it normally take longer than an hour and a half to run this offline?
There is an option to run this directly via command line on the server OS but the two options above would seem to be the obvious first choice.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards.
