One of my servers, an old Proliant DL380 G4 recently shut itself down and when booting, it displays this error and will not proceed any further: "PCI bus parity error slot ?". I have tried shutting it down and reseating all cards on the motherboard but this did not help. While searching on this error around the internet, I found that it indicates a problem with the motherboard. I do have a spare server of the same model as this and I thought about swapping the motherboard out with it. I am concerned that my RAID array will be broken if I do this and all of my data will be lost. The RAID config on this server is different than the other server but they do both use the same array controller card.
What do you think? Am I OK swapping the motherboard or will this spell disaster? I’d rather not have to rebuild this server so I’m hoping there’s something that can be done to resurrect it.
