RAID Logical Drive needs recovery

Hi all,

We have a Proliant DL380 G7 and we use it as a standalone ESXi host.

We have RAID 1+0 setup with 6 x 300Gb drives.  The ESXi OS runs on a USB or SD card, so the logical drive is purely used as a VMware datastore.

We recently noticed we had 2 drives showing an orange LED.  So wanting to check the RAID config as we didnt think 2 drives could fail.  VMware only shows the capacity as 558Gb of usable space, so we are not sure if this volume was properly configured in the first place.

I have attched an image of the RAID config screen.  The confusing thing is that the status of all the physical drives is 'OK'.  It also states that the logica drive 'needs recovery'.

I have rebooted the server, and skipped the recovery, and the server booted fine, and the datastore is still as it should be.  My only worry is that if I run the recovery, it might corrupt the datastore.

Should I replace the drives with an orange LED whilst the server is powered on, even though they are apparently OK??

Am I safe to run the recovery on next boot?

Thanks in advance.
