Hi,
We have HP DL180 Gen9 server whith a Smart Array P840 in it.
There are in total 9 physical devices (1 is spare) each 6 Tb SATA 512e HDD and in total 3 logical drives. Logical Drive 1 is 100 gb. Logical Drive 2 is 100 gb and Logical Drive 3 is 30 TB. They have been configures as a Raid 6.
Last friday we ran the HPE SUM and updated almost everything that was out of date including the Smart Array P840. This device wasn't update since 2016. The version on it was 4.xx and now it's 6.60.
After updating all firmware/software etc the Logical Drive 3 started transforming and I do not know why. The Logical Drive has not been expanded or something like that.
At the moment the drive is very slow because the cache has been disabled. The transforming is now at 18,31% (after 5 days).
My question is:
- Why is this drive suddenly transforming?
- What will happen after it has been transformed?
- Am I required to transform?
- Can I cancel the transform (I don't think so)?
- Can I do something to increase the speed of this transformation?
This server is our main backup server and we have a lot of backups of tennants so we cannot disable this drive.
Thank you,
Engin
