raid5 p420io controller: logical disks have same unit serial number

$

Hello,

I have a proliant ML350p gen8 with raid contoller p420i.

4 physical disks in raid array that are seen as 3 logical disks. These are seen as scsi disk sda, sdb and  sdc

With Linux (opensuse 13.2) it seems that each logical disk send the same  unit serial number for the 3 disks which gives problem with udev (for more details see https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=926053)

Is this a known problem with this raid controller? The firmware version on my system in 4.68

Philippe

Hello,
I am having problems with eht0 and eth1 in my server. I think the problem comes because NIC1 and NIC2 are disable, but I don't know how can I enable them.

You can see a screenshoot attached.

Can anybody tell me how can I enable them?

iLO 4 AD authentication issue

I'm running DL360 Gen 8 servers with iLO4  and iLO firmware 2.10

I'm attempting to set up the iLO to authenticate with Active Directory.

I've installed certficates on the AD and have tried both 1024 bit and 2048 bit keys.  I get the same failure results.

I've configured the iLO to use Directory Default Schema,  Kerberos Athentication is disabled,  Local user accounts are enabled.

Under Administration>User Administration I've configured a Directory group with the DN of the group that will have access rights.  All access rights are checked.

Under Administration>Security>Directory  I've entered the IP of the AD server, the Directory Server LDAP port is set to 636, I've configured a Directory User Context with the OU path to the group containing the admin users.

I've tried setting these by hand and also using the Directories Support for Proliant Mangement Processors app to set the configuration.

when I run the test Settings  function, I get the following

Connect Using SSL                        Warning          Certficate Subject mismatch, verify OK...

   Directory User Contexts              Success

   Directory Administration login   Success

   Connect to Directory Server       Success

   Ping Directory Server                   Success

   Directory Server DNS Name       Success

LOM object exists                         Failed               unable to confirm LOM object N/A in directory

should this run if not using Kerberos authentication?

User Authorization                        Failed              LDAP bind failed; invalid Credentials

User Authentication                      Failed              Unable to authenticatetest user [invalid credentials]

Bind to directory Server                Failed              LDAP bind failed; invalid Credentials

Since the credentials are valid, my assumption is that something is wrong in the either the user context or directory group definition.   Since the values were generated automatically using the Directories Support for Proliant Mangement Processors app and selecting the desired groups from the tree, I'm at a loss how to proceed.

Suggestions welcomed!

Warranty on Proliant hard drives

I have a hard drive that has failed that was part of a RAID1 array on a ProLiant DL360 G7.  I have extracted the serial number (remotely) via ProLiant DL360 G7, however upon trying to check if the drive is under warranty, it says i need the product ID to check this.

Upon entering this into the warranty checker, it says invalid.  How do i check the warranty status on my hard drive?

Thanks

Advice on Installing Drivers from HP SPP onto W2K12 R2

$

I'm having very uneven results with the HP SPP.  I downloaded it, and located the file that installs the Smart Storage Administrator (that replaces the HP Array Configuration Utility).   It works well.

I had less luck with the HP Management Home Page.  On a DL360G5, it can't connect to the onboard management controller.  It claims it isn't there, but the server must have one because the other ten DL360G5's I run do have them and they the servers into Insight Manager very nicely.

How can I run the HP SPP so that it installs all the drivers I need at one fell swoop?  Not firmware, mind you, just the drivers for hte HP Utilities, such as Insight Manager and Version Control Utility, etc. etc.

Is there a list of which drivers are in which files?

HP server management

Hi,

We have an HP ML310e G8 server that we need to have the management software installed on for our RMM agents to communicate with. Our RMM company suggested the SIM. Looking at another HP server we have that has the management software on it, I cannot find any evidence of SQL on it.

I was wondering what would be the correct way to install the management system. SIM seems to require SQL but the other HP server with the management software does not have SQL.

Thank you.

SPP on Gen 9 Servers?

Hi,

As Gen9 Servers have the option to update the firmware in the BIOS/UEFI, does that mean that the HP SPP is no longer required?

thanks

ML350 G9 UEFI Won't boot to 2012R2 CD or USB

Hello,

This is my firts installation of a G9 serie. I would like to boot in UEFI mode with a generic 2012 R2 iso.

I use Win DVD Usb Tool to create a USB drive.

First try = no boot.

So I test my USB device to a another UEFI PC (Asus Laptop) = UEFI Boot OK

Second Try, I burn my 2012R2 iso on a DVD = No boot

Why the server won't boot to my UEFI devices ?

Is there a tips ?

Thx in advance for answers ;)

DL 380 G9 High fan speed

We just purchased 7 G9's and installed windows 2012. However one of them after about 20 minutes, the fans kick in really loud and just roar. They do not stop. a restart will fix it, but that's not the solution. It seems to me the issue started when I ran all of the Windows updates on this one machine. It's not in production yet, but it will be.

Gen9 Drivers in Onview for system center

Hi.

We are trying out OS deployment with SCCM for our Gen9 servers. We downloaded the hp oneview for system center 7.5 and installed the HP ProLiant SCCM 2012 Integration Kit manully as the manual stated. But when we have installed Windows 2012 R2 on a DL360 Gen9 servers there are still Unrecognized devices in the Device manager. I've checked the content of the driver packages from HP ProLiant SCCM 2012 Integration Kit and it looks like It's got the basic drivers for Network, Array controller and so on. If we install an older server a bl460 g7 with windows 2012 R2 it doesn't have any unrecogined devices.

This is not really a problem as we always run the SPP right after installation anyway but it's a bit of a headscratcher for me and i hope someone can confirm my thoughts as to why it behaves this way.

My thoughts are that HP puts the minimum amount of drivers in the HP ProLiant SCCM 2012 Integration Kit to keep the size down and just get the OS working. And for the DL360 Gen9 having unrecognised devices and the BL460 G7 doesn't is that Windows contains the drivers for the G7 drivers but not the Gen9 server.

Can some one confirm or correct me on this one please?

[Proliant DL380p] [Centos7.1x64] Server hangs while rebooting

Hi,

I made a new oVirt installation (http://www.ovirt.org/Home) using Centos7.1x64 (all updates) on top of two HP Proliant DL380p.

When I reboot any server, it hangs with this message "hpwdt unexpected close not stopping watchdog"

I got this error on ILO4 GUI  "An unrecoverable System Error (NMI) has occured (System error code 0x0000002b,0x00000000)"

There is something wrong between the OS and HP watchdog.

After some searching, I added this line "intremap=no_x2apic_optout" to kernel parameters, but it didn't change anything.

I updated the ILO4 firmware from 1.40 to 2.10 and the SmartArray p420i from 5.10 to 6.34, but it didn't change anything.

The current BIOS version is 02/10/2014, I don't know if there is a newer one !

Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

The BIOS version is 0270906 (BIOS date 09/06/10)

I couldnt find a solution so far, does anyone know how to fix the problem?

ML350 G6 led lights on front panel

I thought the storms last month were causing power outages and my UPS was not telling server to reboot.  Last night it did it again but no storms.  It was just in sleep mode.  Turned it on then did some research to find out that the combo of lights is an issue with a component on the mother board.  Open the side and only light flashing is a green just above what looks like a heat dissipator (see photo).  Instructions says light issue would be amber.  There are no amber lights, probably because I woke it up already.  Any help would be appriciated

HDD transfer speed

Hello,

I installed 4 Hitachi (HDT725025VLA380) SATA drives into my ML310e Gen8 v.2 server (724977-S01).

It has Smart Array B120i RAID controller. Though these drives are SATA-2, the controller says 'Transfer speed 1.5Gbps' when I select each indivudual drive. I suppose it has to be 3Gbps. Do you have any ideas why could it be?

It looks I have all fresh firmware.

Thanks.

Unable to configure RAID for H220 SAS 2 Controller in a HP Proliant ML310e G8v2

I am setting a brand new HP Proliant ML310e G8v2 server with an additional HP H220 SAS 2 PCI Controller that has 4 HP 450Gb 6G (652615-B21) 6G SAS 15K rpm LFF hard drives.

The BIOS is configured for SATA AHCI Support in "System Options/SATA Contr Option/Embedded SATA Config". The Boot Controller Order is configured to boot first from the H220 Host Bus Adapter and the second from the Embedded Intell SATA Controller.

The H220 Host Bus Adapter MPT Firmware Rev is 13.10.53.00-IT, NVDATA Ver OD.43.00.12

The BIOS Boot-up sequence displays the HP H220 adapter and the 4 HDs attached.

There appears not to be any option in the LSI SAS Configuration Utility or HP Intelligent Provisioning tool

to configure the HDs for RAID.

How can I configure RAID on this adapter?

Hi all,

I can't find where I can configure a RAID array in a new just-delivered Proliant ML10 v2. The F5 key doesn't work. It says so in the documentation too, but does not explain how one can go into the RAID configuration utility (ACU in HP Smart Storage?). Help! How can I configure RAID on this server?

Thanks in advance,

pascal

Curiously, when I ran hpsum.bat to install the HP utilities, cp023853  was marked with  a little red dot.  I know I can't complete the installation if any driver has a red dot next to it, but other than that, what does it mean?

How can I get rid of the red dot?
