It looks like all HPE Servers are not certified with the latest VMware VSAN version 6.5. Is the certification still in progress? We want to upgrade our DL380 Gen9 servers to the latest VSAN release.

Hi,
At this stage we dont care about power usage in our data centres and are happy to turn off the power management software on our HP Blades and Rack Mount servers.
Question is.
To get the best our of our server fleet should i disable the power management at the ilo - high performance mode? what about inside the BIOS P or C state?
Once you disable the power management option does this turn off the OS controlled power management features
Thanks
All,
I have a old HP Proliant DL360 Gen7 (P68) server in our lab. I am trying use it for experimenting some vitualization related experiments. I have added Intel X540-AT2 10G network card to one of the PCI slots. Then enabled IOMMU in kernel command line. When I try to unbind the device from ixgbe and bind it to idb_uio to run a DPDK application, I get a kernel crash and also an error message:
[ 3310.150169] DMAR: DRHD: handling fault status reg 2
[ 3310.150239] DMAR: DMAR:[DMA Read] Request device [09:00.1] fault addr bfeb68000
DMAR:[fault reason 06] PTE Read access is not set
From the various posts on the internet I understand that this is something to do with RMRR allocation in HP servers and some posts suggested changing BIOS settings to disable the RMRR for the specific PCI slot. However on this Gen7 server, I did not find any such option in BIOS. I just find device enable or disable under PCI options. Is there any other way to get this working?
I am running Ubuntu server 16.04.1 on this server with Kernel version: 4.4.21.
thanks and regards,
Ravi
hi,
I have in my testlab an DL385 G7 without support. Since two day's the box seems dead. No signal on Monitor or ILO graphical console. Ilo shows as status poweroff but the server is powered on. Ilo can't power on the system but shows no error in ilo log or integrated management. The physical power button is not able to power off or power on the server, only unplug the power supplies did it.
No error LED on the managment display.
I tried allready clearing the cmos via jumper, did not help.
There are no PCI Cards build in only the onboard devices are in use.
Anybody an idea what's going wrong here?
Hi
I have a Proliant ML150 Gen9 server which came out stock with a single processor. After about 2 years I decided to add another processor as the board could take it. I added the exact same spec server, same RAM everything identical to the original processor. Everything has been working fine for about 4 months and now suddently when the server reboots i get the following error message:
207-Memory initialization error on Processor 2, Dimm 3.
The operting system may not have access to all the memory installed in the system
The server is currently running extremely slow and the 2nd processor is working twice as hard as the first.
Any ideas?
We have servers of various ages in our datacenter using iLo versions 2, 3, and 4. Is there a set of FW ports that we can use for all three versions?
(We currently have 443, 3389, 17990 and 17998 open so far. - do we need 22 also?)
Also, we're looking into using Active Directory to authenticate users into iLo. Can you explain the additional ports that need to be opened for this to work?
Hello all, I am having trouble getting hpsum setup correctly. I have done the following and am stuck with adding Baseline to the local node. I have installed hpsum-7.2.0-54.rhel7.x86_64.rpm and then started ./hpsum via cli.
./hpsum
./x64/hpsum_bin_x64
hpsum_service_x64 started successfully on port 63001, ssl port 63002 and ftp port disabled.
Error: cannot launch browser.
I am able to login to the browser but am unable to select baseline for the localhost. I have attached an image of the error and the screen. I am not sure what to put for Location TYPE and Location Details. Any guidance would be awesome.
Thanks,
Hi
I have a C7000 enclosure with some bl 465 G7 servers.
On the servers ILO 3 there is a BL c-class button that gives access to OA on the enclosure.
How can I restrict that access, so that servers ILO can't access OA ?
Hi,
What is the difference between these two drives apart from "SC" in the title and what does SC stand for?
Thanks

HI all,
I have a HP Proliant ML150 G6 left from the previous admin with no POST issue. It is left like this for over a year and I cannot get in touch with the former admin to find out what lead to this issue.
The issue is: when just plugged in it will kick in and turn off after few seconds, the power LED will stay on amber. When the power button is pressed it will turn on and the health LED is green, no POST, no signal to the screen.
The LED above the RAM is solid green; another above the RAID is flashing green. No signal or any red LED.
Tired removing/swaping memory modules and minimum config, pressed the CMOS reset button, with no result.
Can it be failed BIOS/Firmware update, and if so, how to try and re flash it? Or can it be something else, could you please advise?
Hello all, I have a hp proliant dl580 g5 server, when I try to install one of the driver for the guest operating system under vmware workstation i get a error "Smart Component executing not supoorted at this time in server virtualized guest operating systems" any fix for this will greatly be appreciated, thanks.
John.
I'm thinking of useing a Ultrium 1840 (SCSI version) with this server, and the recnomended hba is a HP SC11Xe, but those are expensive and this server is just for home/personal use.
So im wondering if this sever is comparable with the Ultra320 SCSI HBA G2 designed for the older gen 5 servers. I can get this hba for ~13CAD and overall would be my preffered option of possible. I tried useing SPOCK but that was a dead end, a confuseing hard to figure out dead end.
Also I'm planning on useing Win 2012 R2 with this server which for the most part requires to install that onto a drive, however my end goal for this server is for a 8x2Tb RAID 10 array (my model is the 8x LFF model), and I dont want to use a bay for the OS drive.
(Additionally are the Ultrium 1840 and the Ultra320 HBA compatable with 2012 R2? Again I tried SPOCK but to no avail)
So im wondering if it is an alright idea to use the redundant 10pin power connector for the sas backplane and splice a SATA power onto the end of that. I mean a ssd is low power so i dont think the draw would affect anything but i could be wrong.
I have heard of useing SATA DOMs and mSATA and m.2 pci converters however for the most part those would cost more that canabalizing a power cable and buying a small SSD, and as such that is my secondary option.
Thanks in advance for the help
Running the HP APP 2016.10 on a Proliant DL360e Gen8 throws a "deployment error: unable to download files" on the following installers when run through the interactive web interface:
I've verified that those files are indeed in the swpackages folder and the installers can be individually run without any issue. Choosing them individually in the web interface doesn't make a difference either - still fails.
I've tried this on another server (ML350 Gen9) and tried re-downloading the SPP. Still doesn't make a difference.
No AV is installed, yes I've rebooted, right click running as admin, doesn't matter if ISO is mounted or extracted locally, logged in using default admin account on 2012 R2, I've run clean_cache.bat in swpackages, etc...
Anybody got an idea?

Ive been setting up a new DL380 G9 and would like to use the internal USB port to run unRAID however I am at a loss when getting it to boot from the USB by defult. Due to the version of unRAID running a older kernal the USB needs to boot from legacy mode not UEFI. Any ideas or segestions would be much appreciated!
