I have a new HP ProLiant DL360 G7 system that randomly hangs at the "Power and Thermal Calibration in Progress..." screen during the POST process. This typically follows a warm-boot/reboot from the installed operating system.
The system stalls indefinitely at this point. Issuing a reset or cold-start via the ILO 3 power controls makes the system boot normally without incident.
When the system is in this state, the ILO 3 interface is fully accessible and all system health indicators are fine (all green). The server is in a climate-controlled data center with power connections to PDU. Ambient temperature is 64°F/17°C. The system was placed in a 24-hour component testing loop prior to deployment with no failures.
The primary operating system for this server is VMWare ESXi 5. We initially tried 5.0 and later a 5.1 build. Both were deployed via PXE boot and kickstart. In addition, we are testing with baremetal Windows and Red Hat Linux installations.
HP ProLiant systems have a comprehensive set of BIOS options. We've tried the default settings in addition to the Static high-performance profile. I've disabled the boot splash screen and just get a blinking cursor at that point versus the screenshot above. We've also tried some VMWare "best-practices" for BIOS config. We've seen an advisory from HP that seems to outline a similar issue, but did not fix our specific problem.
Suspecting a hardware issue, I had the vendor send an identical system for same-day delivery. The new server was a fully-identical build with the exception of disks. We moved the disks from the old server to the new. We experienced the same random booting issue on the replacement hardware.
I now have both servers running in parallel. The issue hits randomly on warm-boots. Cold boots don't have the problem. I am looking into some of the more esoteric BIOS settings like disabling Turbo Boost or disabling the power calibration function entirely. I could try these, but they should not be necessary.

Soon I'll be undergoing a project to migrate from a HP B140i software RAID to a HP P440/4GB hardware RAID on a DL60 & DL80 Gen9 server.
Question is (according to the specs), is that it's possible to migrate the existing RAID without destroying or re-building it, but I'm not entirely clear how.
By shutting down the server, installing the P440/4GB RAID card, powering back up and installing drivers I'm clear on; but it's the swapping of the cables I'm unsure about after a second shutdown.
Once swapping/replacing the cables from the onboard SATA controller with the relevant SAS/SATA cable and plugging into the P440/4GB, will the Intelligent Provisioning BIOS do all the work? I can't seem to find any specific instructions online what the correct procedure is. Thanks!

Our school recently recieved an HP Proliant ML150 G9 server. And to make the long story short, we are not sure what would be the first things we should do. We already have plans on what would be its functions - Domain Controller, File Server and Database thru Virtualization. What usually are the procedures to do upon acquaring such equipment in term of keeping the server up to date with its firmware and other 'built-in' softwares.
Our school have used regular desktops as servers soo you can see where our 'fear and excitement' is coming from.

Server is running on Windows server 2008 R2.
At power on state without HDD, all iLO State is green and normal,
At power on state (mean; server is running with HDD and OS is running,) then shutdown from server ‘OS,
Found stopping at shutting down OS screen and Health led is red status.
When check iLO, I found the critical alert at IML log.
Andthen we decided to change the systemboard. After replaced the systemboard the alerts and error messages is still. What happened on this server?

tried both raid10 on Intel RST and CSM enabled....
No luck on detecting the Raid Adapter & Raid Disk....

I have to do a firmware upgrade on P420i from an older 3.54 to the latest 8 - opened an HPE case and they suggested a stepping method, do you agree?
They suggested 2 steps; start with an upgrade to 6 and then to 8; easy only 2 steps and 2 times reboot.
Does this suggestion sound like a valid one? Obviously I expected some incremental safety upgrades instead of jumping directly from 3.54 to 8 so I wonder if even going from 3 to 6 is sufficiently "safe" so to speak?

We have an ml350 g6. Powered down the system due to a passing storm. After reconnecting, system does not power up. No led on the motherboard,front panel or PSU. Changed the psu and still no change. PSU fans spin when plugged in but no led.

Now i used removed them from the server and i want to replace them with a set of E5-2620.
