DL180 Gen 9
Good day guys!
I have a DL180 Gen9 that we are using for a student project. I know there are well known issues with fan speeds in the DL 180 G9, but I was wondering if there is any way that we can address it further. The server is fully updated, so now the fan speed is stuck in the mid 30% if I add a GPU or 10Gb NIC, but I was hoping to lower this more. Without the cards inserted, the fans are barely audible.
I know this isn't exactly a supported configuration, but please could someone assist? I'm willing to try anything.

DL380 G4 no POST
Hello,
I am having problems with two DL380 G4 server that are experiencing the same issue - no POST.
One of them was recently turned off for a UPS maintenance and at power on it experienced the issue. I get no video and no POST beep codes. The fans are working and the hard drives are spinning up. I tried the following:
- re-seating RAM modules
- replacing RAM modules
- swapping the CPUs
- swapping power supplies
- removing an extra ethernet card from the pci riser cage
- resetting the nvram cache
- connecting to ilo (no connection)
All the troubleshooting was done on another monitor, so KVM issues are excluded. I also checked the STATUS LEDs and the error code is 41h.
I hadn't checked the other one as thoroughly but the symptoms are the same.

Cannot enter Standby Mode on HP ProLiant DL380 G4
Since I removed the defective Cache Module from The Smart Array 6400 controller, the server will never enter standby mode. The power LED is off but the fans are still very very noisey, can someone help me with this issue. Also, the HDDs keep spinning after the server is 'off'

That age old G7 Non-HP Hard Drive Fan Issue
Hello,
I have seen many posts about the fans running jet speed if non-HP hard drives are installed within the server, in my case an HP DL360 Gen 7. I am running CentOS / RedHat 7.x on this server.
I had blind luck in the past, and recently purchased 2 new Seagate 3TB drives, and stumbled into the fan issue. It is disturbing that HP keeps this issue alive -- I understand why -- but these are older servers now, and great for a home lab testing environment.
I discovered that using hponcfg -r, I can reset the iLO 3 settings, and the fans spin down for a few minutes while this is going on.
I have an insane idea of crontabbing the hponcfg -r so it runs every three minutes, and keeps the fans down low. But I have no idea if I would blow anything else up.
Curious on an expert opinion.

RAID 5 - use 1 HDD for Hot Spare
Hello,
i have a proliant ML350 Gen8 Server with 6 HDDs in a RAID 5.
My goal is, to degrade to 5 HDDs with 1 Hot Spare Drive.
Is there a possibility to shrink the RAID in 5 HDDs?
Or do I need a backup and create a new logical RAID Drive with 5 HDDs?

Proliant DL360p G8 -- fan speeds
Hi!
Today I've recieved HP Proliant DL360p G8. My question is; what are the normal speeds of fans? They are running at 40% all the time, could they run at lower speeds? I have set fan speed in BIOS to 'Optimal Cooling'. Checked iLo, no errors, temperatures are fine, under 50C all the time. Server is currently running in the basement, where temperatures are constantly 18C or lover.

ML350G6 - windows 10 pro install
Hi,
I inherited an ML350G6 some time ago and i want to install win10 pro on it. I have enough dislspace and nade 2 partitions a small one and a big one. The memory is 36 GB
The problem is that when i install win10 i get a message that it cannot be installed on the disk. (i think it cannot create a system partition...) I saw somew items on the net about using diskpart and use the command clean. That does NOT work for me.
Is there someone that can solve this mystery ? I had windows installed before, but do not know i managed that ......

HDD LED is orange and blinked.
Hello,
On my HP G7 server, two of HDD LEDs are orange and blinked. I checked the raid and that two HDDs are "RAID 1+0" and the RAID utilitty not show any error. How can I troubleshooting it?

iLO 5 problem with AlertMail
I have iLO 5 ver 2.10
I am not able to configure AlertMail using my gmail.com credentials (working normally elsewhere).
I am not connected to any domain, I have Windows Server 2016.
I read that domain must not be empty but I am not connected to any domain, I tried puting gmail.com unsuccessfully.
I am using iLO Shared Network Port, without DHCP, and the IP and DNS are configured, and the Server Has Internet Access.
Please advise possible solutions.

Single Drive Initialization
Hi
I saw on my DL380 G5 that it was possible to initialize a single disk ( not in raid ) just should when directly connected to the motherboard and not the raid controller. But on my G7, I dont see the option to do so in the raid configuration or in SSA.

The server start, but without video, the cooler is at maximum, I'm sharing a link with video and photo.

PCI Array Controller doesn't show in Intelligent Provisioning
Hi,
I've got a DL380e G8 server with PCI RAID controller installed (SAS 9205-8i) and 2 SAS hard drives. However, Intelligent Provisioning nor SSA show it - they only show integrated B120. The PCI controller however does show in boot configuration - boot order etc. How do I get it to work?

i have a Problem with the HP Power Protector. My shutdown script dont starts if the HP Power Protector trigger the shutdown event (start script) after 10 Minutes on Battery. when i start the script manuel it works fine. "shutdown.cmd"
I test this with "" and Without "" , i tested with another Path, i used a .bat
someone has a tip for me what I could try or where my mistake could be ?

External Disk Enclosures attached to P408e is first controller
I have a DL380 Gen10 that has (2) disk enclosures attached to a P408-e card in PCIe Slot1 that is first in boot order over an internal P816i on CentOS 7. Is there any way of making the internal P816i be the first controller?
The P408e card that has 2 external SAS ports bus path is pci-0000:12:00.0 while the internal P816i is pci-0000:5c:00.0 Since 12 is lower than 5c, I'm assuming udev is making P408e controller first.

Upgrading driver for SmartArray safe?
Hello Everyone,
I have configured the raid controller using the ORCA and installed Windows Server 2012 R2 on it. Then I installed Hyper V and restore the VMs. The server is running fine and it's all good.
My problem is I forgot to install all the proper device drivers because I was rushing to bring the VMs online. Does upgrading the device drivers will break the array?
Please help, I also need to install the HP Storage Administrator after the drivers.

Cannot run Smart Update Tools
I would like to carry out the driver and firmware updates via iLO Amplifier Pack. On the Server to be updated there is a message that SUT would not run. Now I try to install SUT 2.5.0.0 (20 Dec 2019) on this Windows Server 2016. The Windows is installed on a Proliant DL380Gen9. If I enter "sut -status" in the command line, the error message comes up "Unable to read iLO version details. Ensure that iLO version is v2.30 or higher". iLO has the version 2.73 Feb 11 2020. How can I get SUT installed on this system?
