I have several ProLinat Servers that have onboard Smart Array P410i controller, and there os are Fedora 19.
I found that smartctl command can cause system freeze.
Detail situation is as follows.
smartctl -a -d cciss,0 /dev/sgX
is always success. However, disk no. from 3 to 5, e.g.
smartctl -a -d cciss,3 /dev/sgX
causes system freeze on the systems that has no cache and battery.
On the system that has cache and battery,
all disk correctly reply the SMART information.
I recently bought the cache and battery option 534916-B21, such system freeze does not occur.
Is this freeze caused by the hpsa driver or firmware bug?
Hardware and software details are as follows:
System: HP ProLiant ML350 G6, HP ProLiant DL360 G6, HP ProLiant DL360 G7
BIOS version: 2013.07.02
Firmware version of Smart Array P410i: 6.40
OS: Fedora 19
Kernel: 3.11.4-201.fc19.x86_64 (I also confirm that the freeze occurs on 3.12-rc4)
For the system with cache and battery, hpssacli command says that

Thank you.
