DL585 G2/G6 shows amber internal health fault LED several minutes after power on

I have a DL585 G2 upgraded to hexacore CPUs so now it reports at a G6. The server runs Solaris 11.2. It has been running fine for years and continues to run fine, but several minutes after boot, the amber internal health LED becomes illuminated. The internal diagnostic panel in the server shows all is well. I have never sorted out how to use ILO or whatever the other health-management tools are called, but the Solaris ipmitool shows that sensor "ProcHot" has a value of 0x0280. It is certainly possible that I did not use enought thermal grease when installing the hexacore CPUs.

Is there a way to troubleshoot this further? I read about insight and diagnostics, but I have zero clue where to begin. HP only supports Solaris 10, which may or may not apply to the current Solaris 11.2.

Any advice appreciated,

Marty
