I have 3 arrays configured on a proliantML570, with RAID1+0 on arrayA (for OS) and RAID5 on arrayB and C(for data). After I extented arrayC, the background parity initialization started running. Now, while this is happening, I tried to upgrade the hard drives of arrayB(RAID5), but after swapping the drives, the controller(SA6402) lost all the array configuration including the ones I didn't change.
My question is: should it pick up the configuration for the arrays that had not been changed? Or am I only allowed to upgrade the HDD's after the parity initialization is completed on the other array?
How long will it take to do the parity initialization on a 546GB RAID5 array?
