ML370 G4 Tower with Smart Array 6404/192MB, Ultra320 SCSI configuration question

I have a used ML370-G4 with a Smart Array 6404/192MB RAID controller card. The 6404 RAID controller card has two internal SCSI connection points available and two external SCSI connection points available. The internal and external connectors are of different types (mechanically). The machine has a six U320 hard-drive (hot-swap) cage. The backplane of the hard-drive cage is split into a two drive section and a four drive section. Right now, there is a short cable connecting the two sections. One SCSI cable comes from the 6404 card and connects to the two-drive section of the drive cage backplane. It connects all six hard-drives in the cage to one SCSI channel.

1) If it's possible, I would like to remove the short cable that is connecting the two sections of the drive cage backplane. This would leave only two hard-drives on one SCSI channel. I'm not sure whether a SCSI terminator needs to be placed onto the connector (on the two-drive section of the drive cage backplane) where the short cable was connected.

2) If it's possible, I would like to use the second internal SCSI connector on the 6404 RAID controller card to connect to the four hard-drive section of the drive cage backplane. I don't know what kind of cable is needed for this. The four hard-drive section of the drive cage backplane has the same type of connector as a U320 hard-drive.

Does anyone know if this is possible? How to refer to the various connectors in this system? What kind of cable is needed? And are any cable or bus terminators needed?

Many thanks for any hints!
