HP DL380p Gen8 and PCIe SSD?

$

Hey,

We decided to by a new server.

I looked everywhere and couldn't find any solid answer to this:

Does HP DL380p Gen8 support PCIe SSD? Is there a capacity limit?

I'm thinking of Intel DC P3600 400G PCIe SSD (2x).

Does DL380p support this? Can I boot the server using PCIe?

Please Help

Thanks

Amir

Backup Raid 0 Drives on ProLiant DL160 G6 with B110i

Hello,

I have a ProLiant DL160 G6 with B110i software RAID controller.

It runs eine logical RAID 0 drive consisting of two physical SATA disks.

One of the disks now shows that it will fail shortly - so I have to change the hdd.

I already built in the spare drive, but now I have to copy the data.

My idea is to make a image backup of the RAID 0 drive, shut down the system,

replace the drive and restore the drive. But I do not find any backup software
that can handle a B110i RAID 0 system. I only found some discussion on Acronis,

but this seems to be complicated (via Windows PE boot CD).

So, my questions are:

1. Is the general idea via backup OK ?

2. Is there any backup software that can handle a B110i RAID 0 system ?!

Thanks for any help in advance,

kind regards,

Oliver

VERY URGENT HELP PLEASE! PROLIANT ML370 G2 STUCK on standby!

Hey there!

I need really urgent help, my PROLIANT ML370 G2 needs to be working tomorrow morning at 9am and i don't know what else to do anymore.

I turned off my server for around 1hour. After that, all of the sudden he stopped working normally:

- I have the power cord plugged in but NO light coming on the LED (the one in the back of the power supply).
- I have the amber light ON (stand by?) on the front panel, however when i press the stand by/on button the external health LED goes RED.

I already swapped the power supply to BAY-2, problem persists. I only have one power supply, however i really think this one is working well... my guess is that the server is stuck on standby mode.

What can it be? i am going nuts! please help!

Hi,

Seems to be that version 1.62 was the last IP for Gen8. Versions 2.x says hardware not supported.

But where one could download it ?

Unknown device in G9 server

Hi,

I'm in the process of building a DL180 G9 server. It was built via 2012 R2 media and has had the SPP applied without issue. All but one of the devices listed has an appropriate driver installed. I just can't figure out what it is. I had assumed that it may possibly have had something to do with ILo but those devices\drivers look to be ok. Hardware ID below:

PCI\VEN_103C&DEV_193F&SUBSYS_3381103C&REV_00

It appears as 'PCI Device' and is on the same root port as iLo (CHIF), iLo (CORE), Matrox G200.

Any advice would be greatfully received.

Thanks all!

Scott.

Proliant ML150 G5 - Understanding raid configuration.

I buyed a new ML150 G5 (450162-421).
I don't understand wich combination are allowes with the six sata port on the motherboard.

I have this storage devices:
3 hard disks
1 Iomega Rev
1 Dvd Rom

I would configure in this way:

2 hard disk in raid1
1 hard disk for complete system backup
1 Iomega Rev for external backup
1 Dvd Rom for.... Dvd rom ! :-)

How can I set in bios the raid controller ?

In bios, I set controller #1 in raid mode.

Then, I connected the hard disks in sata 1, 2 and 3 connector (why 4 are black and two are blue?).

I configured the raid1 array inserting the first two hard disk but , after rebooting, i check this:

ARRAY 0 - RAID 1 - MIRROR
SATA JBOD - PORT 3 - NON-CONFIGURED

Is it correct ? Why the port3 hard disk is indicated as "non-configured" ?

Maybe is not possible to use first two connector like raid and the other two as single ?

Is there any configuration manual for raid controller embedded in the server ?

Thanks for your help

burning HP ISO images to flash drive

Hi,

When using "default" utility - "HP USB key Utility", version 1.7 - process of burning is always slow, now trying to burn new SPP - lasts hours.

There are a lot of other utilities, for example "Rufus ISO", seems to fastest, - same SPP was about 2-3 minutes, but when booting this flash drive, always got strange errors, like "Can not find kernel image vesamenu.c32" and such.

Any suggestions ?

Bad Memory module

I purchased 3 drives for a ML350 G6 Server to set up a RAID 5 array. I didn't realize until after I installed them that I needed a memory module to get RAID 5 to work. I found the part, 462967-B21, and ordered it off Amazon (don't judge, cheap client!)

The first part that came was the battery and a 256MB memory module, when I had ordered a 512MB module. I didn't installed the 256MB and requested the seller send me the 512MB module. That module was sent, and I moved the battery to the 512MB module.

This morning i attemtped to install the new module into the server. During POST, it was taking longer than normal. Eventually it started the boot order, but did not recognize the installed hard drives. I can only assume there is a conflict between what's on the drives and the module, which is likely blank due to not having a battery. Unlike some other RAID controllers I've worked with, I couldn't find an option to overwrite the memory settings and boot to "drive settings" or something similar. I didn't have time to dig around the regular BIOS to see where I could adust the P410i settings. So I let it just try to boot. During the boot with the memory installed, I did not see the hard drive lights flashing, so they weren't being seen.

After 10 minutes, I gave up and took the new module out, and the server booted fine. But I"m still of course unable to use the module and thus a RAID 5 option. Am I missing something? I can try again, but I'll have to do it later in the day/end of the day to minimize customer impact. Will using the 256MB module make it better or worse? I don't really care which one is used, just as long as I can get RAID 5 working.

Hi all, recently I have bought a new ML350 Gen9 SFF and I am trying to change from SFF to LFF. I can see in the QuickSpecs PDF the LFF cage part number but I think that buying this part is not enought.

Can anyone show me how can I accomplish that? or maybe It´s not possible.

DL180 G6 LO100 keys and mouse don't work!

I have this one server that appears to have all USB ports disabled. So now I can't get into the bios and the KVM isn't working.

I can get logged in and the KVM launches, I can see the screen and everything, but the mouse nor the keyboard work. I've tried flashing to the latest LO100 and even downgrading but it still doesn't work.

I do have full control and even the virtual keyboard doesn't work.

I've tried from a Windows 8 and windows 7 PC along with trying Java 8 and Java 6.

Gen9, H240 - Set HBA Mode for Tape

Hi,

Not sure if this should be in the server or storage forums so I will try here.
Have a HP Ultrium 1760 LTO 4 Tape drive connected to the H240

Short version is I am having an issue, and in the quickspecs for the H240 card it says the following
"The H240 Smart Host Bus Adapter provides flexibility to run in HBA mode or simple RAID mode"

Now how do you configure it to HBA only mode, as I cannot find anything in the documentations or in the
HP Smart Storage Administrator Utility.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

I have a Proliant ML 350G6 with 4GB of ram in two 2GB bank. They are installed in channel 1 an channel 2, slot 3 and slot 6. I'd like to have 8GB of memory adding only more two 2GB DIMM's, is this possible? Can I have a channel with two DIMM's and the other channel with only one DIMM ?

Looking at this page I'm not sure: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01727710

Thanks,

DL380 G7 Raid 10 drive to 8 drive array 4TB

$

We have a DL380 G7 with the 410 conroller and 4 SAS 1Tb drives configured in Raid 10.

Today I installed 4 more 1 TB drives and can see them in the HP array software, with the option to add them to the exisitng array.

If I add them to the existing array, this will create a array that is 4TB vs the current 2 TB. I was hoping to make the extra space available to the existing drive and not have to reinstall anything.

We are using Hyper V with 2 2013 VM's

If I make the new array 4Tb will the machine continue to boot or do I need UEFI set in BIOS?

Any help or links to information appreciated.

Thanks

Doug
