Replacing Disk in RAID Array

Hi Guys,

 

We have a few HP DL360 G5 servers, with a 3 disk RAID array, I was wondering if one disk fails, does the replacement disk (once minimum same size) need to be a blank disk, for example we have a test server and I was wondering if something happened one of the disk in my production servers could I just take a disk from the test server and put into the production server? If not is there a way to allow me to do this? Im new to RAID so excuse my stupidy if im asking a stupid question!!

HP ROK 2012 R2 and .NET 3.5

Hi,

 

After hours of tries, we failed to install .net 3.5 on a server running Windows 2012 R2 Std Ed from the ROK DVD media.

As workaround, we finally installed Windows 2012 R2 from a "normal" media (Microsoft select ?), enabled .net 3.5 feature and activated the OEM license in two steps.

 

1) Register the oem licence via :  slmrg.vbs /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx....

2) Activate licence from the control panel (system)

ML350 G5 - Internal Health Light is Red

I've got an ML350 G5 system that won't boot.  The internal health LED is red. 

I know NOTHING about this server, I just purchased it as a bundle with several other units.

 

I followed the instructions on a simular thread, but my unit will not power on at all.

I press the power button and the fans spin and everything turns off... 

 

* system power off - unplugged both PSUs,

* pulled battery out of systemboard,

* pulled all the memory and put 1 stick back in bank 1A,

* switched maintenance switch number 6 on,

* put battery back,

* powered up - still nothing. Fan spins and system shuts down without post.

Buying advice - silent server

Hello everyone,

I am currently searching for a small and silent server for my home, as the server will be located in my living room it should be quite silent.

I can't decide between the Microserver G8 and the ML310e G8v2.

The server will be running Hyper-V for a small testenvironment, nothing to performance heavy.

 

In terms of noise I already have a Synology DS1515+ with 2 Silent Enermax fans and 5x 5900rpm HDDs, which is not bothering me.

What does "Error recovery is disabled on the system. The device is no longer operational" say?

We have seen a failing FlexFabric NIC. After a restart of the HP server, we see some messages in the system eventlog. First an error (be2net 10): HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLR-SFP+ Adapter #2 : The network device detected an error.

But 2 seconds after this error, we see something interesting: a warning (be2net 44): HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 554FLR-SFP+ Adapter #2 : Error recovery is disabled on the system. The device is no longer operational.

 

What exactly is this error recovery, and how can we enable it?

Memory error DL380 G8 Processor 2 socket 8

I extended memory on a DL380 G8 server with two E5-2650 processors. After that I was getting memory errors on processor 2 socket 8. I replaced the memory and the same problem came up. When I did advanced testing the memory was failing de “SPD Verify Test”. I switch the memory and same happened. I realized that every memory that I put in processor 2 socket 8 will brake and will not pass the “SPD Verify Test” any more. I mainly have Kinston modules but also HP smart memory modules broke down.
HP Support replaced the motherboard and 2 processors. Al broken memory was replaced also. Problem is now solved.

 

At the same time I extended the memory I bought a server with exactly the same specs as the server above. This server now has the exact same problem. Every dimm I put in processor 2 socket 8 will brake and will not pass “SPD Verify Test” even when I put the dim in a different socket. Until now I tested only with Kingston modules. HP support is not very willing to help me despite of the previous case, a new server and a server that never runs production.

 

It looks like a problem in the hardware. Are some of you recognize this with your server or do some of you have unexplained shutdowns? That’s the symptom when running VMware on the system.
At first it was difficult to find the source of the unexplained shutdown, but now I know I can do a “SPD Verify Test”.

Upgrade System Management Homepage failing on Windows 2003 Server?

Hello,

 

I am trying to upgrade the HP System Homepage with the latest version provided by HP.

Proliant DL380 G5

Server Windows Server 2003

HP System Management Homepage 7.2.5.3

After the upgrade the service will never start giving an error:

Trying to download PSP / SPP , failing miserably... have active warranty.

Should I be able to download the SPP with the following warranty?  I have tried multiple ways of getting to the "obtain software" part when trying to get SPP only to see a little lock icon next to it and be told

My account has 2 devices added, both show the warranty info below, I unfortunately have no documentation from their purchase as they were donated to us, but needless to say this is rather frustrating. Maybe the answer is that the warranty on this hardware is not good enough, but I would expect HP's website to be lot more specific about this..

DL380 G9 won't boot with PCI Express Emulex HBA

Hello,

 

We are trying to install an old Emulex Fibre HBA A8003A (Charon Emulator requirement) into this new DL380 G9 server.  This card works perferctly fine with a DL380 G7 but not with this new DL380 G9 even with the latest BIOS firmware applied. Worked with HP tech support and they said it's not compatible with HP Dl380 G9.  Upgraded G9 BIOS firmware, upgraded HBA firmware and made a few settings change but didn't fix the bootup problem.   Do you have any suggestions or settings that I could try? I wish I could work with the newer HBA but can't in this case. Errors show on the attached screen capture.

Server Disk Status

we has ML110G6 and run Windows Server 2008R2, the HP System Management Homepage sudden not display the hard Disk status, even we update the SMH but still not work.

 

System is use build in P212 and run Raid 1, any one has this expirence?

SC drive can't athenticate to p420

Hello!

 

One our customer has an DL380e gen8 server with P420 RAID controller and 7 SAS HDDs. The server is under standard HP parts warranty. One of HDD has failed and was replaced by a new drive with same type/size/spped sent by HP service. The new drive throws an alert that it is not athenticated by the controller:

We suscpects a broken drive I2C and ask the customer to change the HDD once more. The second new drive shows the same error :(

 

The controller and drive firmwares are up-to-date. Any ideas?

I'm trying to boot via dvd and usb drive with a system based on freebsd 10 but anything yet, I was trying to update the ILO firmware but to no avail

I can do already tried with legacy and UEFI ...

windows 2008 r2 deployment issue with dl 360 G9 servers

Hello,

 

I need to deploy windows 2008 R2 on HP proliant DL 360 Gen9 servers (HP Smart Array P440ar/2G FIO Controller). Server is in legacy boot bios mode.

I do deployment with windows deployment services and get an error (screenshot below). Installation is succesfull but after reboot error pops out.

I am able to install and boot windows if I do install windows via mounted windows ISO via ilo.

 

How could I resolve this issue?

Parts required for Cage Expansion on DL380G7

Hi,

 

I would like to know exactly what I need to order to be able to add a second cage unit to a DL380G7.

 

Our supplier has suggested the below, however the kit has arrived on site and is missing a 8PIN to 8PIN power cable. Can anyone advise of the part number for this, as I cannot locate it anywhere?

iLO displays incorrect status

Hi everyone!

 

I have a decent number of DL380p servers, spread across multiple clients.

The situation that i observe is the following - some of the servers are showing Unknown status of NIC in iLO (screenshot attached)

Its good to mention that all servers are with installed Windows OS and have Agentless management service started.

 

Any thoughts ?

Enviroment:

Smart Array P410I in Embedded Slot

.. Array A - 1 logical drive - 2 X HDD (146 GB ) - Raid 1 - Hot-Plug Disks

 

Disk bay 1-ok

DisK bay 2 - Error

 

Please, see attachments

 

To resolve the issue, it is enough to replacethedisc in thebay2with an equalcapacity?  Once Ireplace thedrive withproblems witha new one,therebuildbeginsor I have torestart the server?
