DL180G6 Disk Speed?
Hey All;
I acquired a few DL180G6 Class Servers, with the 12-Bay 3.5'' LFF Drive cage. It includes the Smart Arry 4.10, with a 256Mb Cache. It orginally was configured with the rear-mount 2 Disk cage, which I pulled, and replaced with the 2 slot riser card, and disconnected all the cables from there to the back-plane.
The problem I'm having, regardless of which disks I use, SAS/SATA, 6/3Gbps, the SMH/ACU reports a negotiated link speed of no more than 3Gbps. From what I've read, 3Gbps is the MAX supported on SATA, but the SAS (Assuming the disks themselves are 6Gbps capable, which they are), should run at 6Gbps, but nothing I do seems to get it to run at that speed. Anyone have any ideas?

cannt install windows server 2008 r2
i am trying a few days to install the new server witout succes. if i install the windows 2008 r2 i cannt select a disk to install. the only drive what i see at the BIOS is dynamic smart array RAID controller.
i have installed the server pack 2016.04.0
i have made a new disk
i have done everything on google and hp site, but nothing make it work.

Does Proliant DL380 G9 support Tesla k40m (passive) GPU?
Hi!
The quickSpecs for Proliant DL380 mentions the Tesla K40C (active, with fan) and i wonder if it also supports the Tesla K40M (passive, without fan). If it does support it, what is needed to isntall two of these Tesla K40M? (i know about the primary and secondary riser, but do I need both to install them, or just one? wich?).

Fatal Front side Bus error HP DL 580 G5
We Have HP DL 580 g5 server , some time it booting and working for a hours and then it is get automatically rebooted , then it says this kind of error , i refixed CPU and All the memory,
some tim we get screen on start up says that TRAP 00000030 ==============EXCEPTION =============

DL360G6 - does not power up, only with CPU removed
I have a DL360G6 left over that has been off for some time. Now I want to donate it to a school but the machine does not come on at all. When plugged in the power switch turns amber. When I press it I hear a short and soft beep, the light goes green only to go back to amber. Fans do not spin - nothing. It tries that about four times and then nothing - amber light, server not starting.
I took everything out and tested without RAM, swapped PSU etc. To see what would happen I took the CPU out and when turned on the fans start to spin - so it is doing more without CPU. compared to with CPU.
What do you think, bad CPU? I tried reset switches etc. The status panel is active (if I take out a fan for instance it shows the red light).
Any suggestions are welcome!

i cant update FW on HDD DG146A4960 and MM0500FBFVQ on Proliant G7 DL380

After update FW for Smart Array -ver FW 6.64 (B)(1 Oct 2015)
i see post error:

Please upgrade firmware on the following drive model(s) using ROM Flash Conponents (download from www.hp.com/support/proliantstorage):
DG146A4960 (minimum version = HPDB )
MM0500FBFVQ (minimum version = HPD3 )
and I did it, supposedly successfully, BUT
after upd FW for this HDDs - nothing changed and the error - same -(
For other models HDD - no problem - fw upd works fine,
This problem i see on many servers Proliant G7 DL380 in my company,
And Itried differentways toupgrade this HDDs (Online from ESXi-5.0, from Service Pack Proliant, from Windows OS) - nothing changed and the error - same -(
Pliz Help ) and critical or not this POST message?

ML150 G6 Sleep States not available?
Hi,
OK, I have a ML150 G6 with two Xeon E5502's and 48G of Ram installed. The machine is currently running Windows 10 64bit and everything is running ok so far!
The issue I have is I cannot get the sleep states (S1, S2, S3, Hibernate, Standby) to become available, I have the following message from "powercfg /a" - "The system firmware does not support this standby state".
Now I've upgraded various firmwares, ILO controllers and have now installed a third party graphics card into the PCIe x16 slot and updated the drivers thinking it was a driver issue however the sleep states remain the same?
I'm aiming to get the machine to go into sleep state S3 and then WOL but I seem to be at an impass.
Any thoughts anyone?

Issue with raid 5
Hi,
l Have a raid 5 with 4 hdd configured on a proliant ml350 G6 server, i have by mistake inter changed disks between slots , i don't remember the place to each disk in the slot, the server does not want to recognise the raid configuration.
what can i do to recover the intial raid configuration without loosing data ?

Username and password default in win server 2012 on hp proliant
I've installed the Windows Server 2012 Standard (WSS2012) via Intelligent Provisioning (IP) on HP Proliant (dl380e gen8). In any moment I was asked for an username or password, both onto IP steps and WSS2012 steps. After full instalation in the initial screen I was warned to change my password and in the next restart It will be mandatory. I don't know the password and username, in the HP server box has an user and pass but not match. It will be necessary reinstall the system (another)? Some one passed by this problem?

Dl380 Gen9 12G SAS Exspander RAID configuration
I'm adding a second 8 bay drive cage and an 12G SAS expander to a DL380 GEN9 server with a P440ar controller. My question is can I keep my existing RAID configuration or will I have to rebuild it after I install the second drive cage. The RAID configuration should be stored on the drives but I'm not sure the contoller will pick up the config after the SAS expander is installed

Microsoft Storage Spaces Problem
Storage Spaces from Microsoft has this huge problem where a server needs to have two controllers. One to hardware mirror the OS and the other to non-RAID pass through to Windows Server 2012 R2, I find that this is difficult find a configuration for.
The only alternative I've found is to get an external HBA with a DC3700, but that adds an additional $3000+ to the price tag. It's not very cost efficient compared to just purchasing a storage appliance.
Am I missing something?

331FLR Adapter causing BSOD
I have a dl380 G8 server running 2012R2 with 4-port 331FLR adapters which occasionally crushes. The memory dump points to the Broadcom adapters. The driver version is 17.2.0.0 (10.2015). Is anyone experiencing issues whith this new version of driver. Thought it was meant to fix the crushes but it looks like it doesn't.

Use NVIDIA Quadro 4000 in HP DL380 Gen6?
Hey guys,
have some older HP DL380 G6 running in a VMware vSphere lab. Now I want to attach a Quadro GPU into each server, so that I can use VMware Horizon 6 to provide virtual Desktops with the vSGA virtual graphics card.
Each host is equipped with teh PCI-E x16 Riser-Card.
Question is: does a Quadro 4000 fit into a DL380 G6 and is there a way to supply the power via the 6-Pin Power Connector to the GPU?

HP ProLiant DL360 G5 Can't upgrade CPU
Hi,
I have a problem with upgrade CPU in HP ProLiant DL360 G5, i buy it with 2 x Intel Xeon 5140, (dual core 2.33 GHz) I want upgrade this, to 2 x Intel Xeon 5450 (quad core 3.00 GHz), I put that CPUs to sockets, close everything. Turn on the server, and I've go no video, full speed fans, and nothing more. When I put the old CPUs, and everything is fine.

Please i need help i bought 2 Hp proliant DL120 server for our office. Our applications are 32 bit. I am trying to install Windows server 2008 Standerd 32 bit but its not happening.
Please let me know if i install Vmware or Hyperv on the server i can install 32 bit server OS.

HP Proliant DL580 gen5 => modern raid controller
Hi,
In my home lab, I have a DL580 gen 5 server that I use for virtualisation and testing. It has 4 older cpu's and 64GB ram which is perfect for what I need it.
Only problem is the raid controller. It is a P400 which supports SATA up to 1,5GB/s (or SATA I) ... as I'm constantly creating, deleting, cloning vm's I want to use 2 consumer grade SSD's in RAID0 as datastore. But to get all the speed out of these things, I would need at least SATA III (6GB/s) support.
Is there a RAID controller compatible with DL580 gen5 that supports SATA III (6GB/s) ?
