ML350 G6 front panel lights not working but server runs fine

I have an HP Proliant ML350 G6 server and it works great and has for years but on this one server the front panel LEDs have never worked but because the server itself runs fine I haven't bothered until now to find a resolution.

Does anyone know what powers those light as it seems that something may be unplugged or somehow not connected properly to power the LEDs panel in front?

Thanks in advance.

I have recently gota Ml10V2 server with a B120i controller, set in RAID format.

I want to install Windows 2012 Essentials on it, but I can't get windows to recognise the controller. Have downloaded CP027782 and extracted it, but when I try to load that during Windows install, it says no signed drivers found.

Can anyone suggest a driver, or way to make Windows 2012 recognise the drivers.

Thanks

SAS Expander decreasing RAID Performance?

Hello,

what we have:

HP DL380 Gen9, p440ar with SAS Expander, 16x HP SAS 600GB drives, 2x HP SAS 400GB SSD

16x 600GB = RAID10

2x 400GB = RAID1 as SSD Cache for the RAID10

As you can see on the screenshot the performance of the RAID is realy slow. There should be atleast 800-1000MB/s with 16 drives in an RAID10, right?

http://imgur.com/kjFGMiR

The HP Support said it's because of the SAS Expander. I should remove 8 drives from the RAID10 to receive better performance, but this ist no option for us.

All components are running on the latest Firmware.

DL360 G5 RBSU keys

I have a pair of DL360 G5's that I'm having a mare with. When entering the RBSU, neither will let me scroll or select anything. I have tried multiple keyboards of both PS/2 and USB but no joy. The keyboards do work however as I can press F9 to select RBSU and Ctrl Alt Del to reboot but besides that, nothing. They work on other machines, so I'm inclined to say they aren't at fault.

Am I missing something really obvious?

HP Proliant DL120 G7 Raid 1+0 and Linux

Hello Community,

the following issue we have with one of your HP Server:

we need to install in a Raid 1+0 envirnement an Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server (x86-64) OS.

the B110i SATA RAID Controller has been configured already as 1+0 via different ways.....with F8 and so on and used as well the SmartStart 8.70B DVD that gave as a few more options.....but it looks like that the Raid is configured on the Controller.

if we start now to install the Linux onto the server, we see that the install gets done only on the first HDD without pushing anything over to the second HDD. Partition getting done for example as well only on the First HDD....absolutly nothing getting written on the Second HDD.

if we use the SmartStart, we have an option to install an OS via the GUI, but all we can see is Windows Based OS and no Linux OS as we think it should, because we see in the DVD Drivers for the Linux Machines.

it almost looks like that we have the Driver for the Controller, but no Driver for Linux.

we have downloaded SATA RAID Controller Driver updates .rpm for Linux, but is that actual required to install? and if so....how exactly do we install them?

thanks for now

Udo

As per the below quick specs of the Server it supports 32GB DIMM. But not able to find any details about the combination with the Specific CPU model. Raid 0 Speed different from two server same SSD and part configuration ?

I have 2 dl360p gen8 the HP server. Both units are running same configuration of the ram, cpu, hard drive, ssd and windows.
Both use p420i raid and same configuration

Server 1: I put ssd to slot 1 2 3 4

Server 2: I put ssd to slot 2 4 6 7 ( newer firmware bios )

But the speed test for hard drive from server 2 always faster x2 than the server 1.

Hard drive arrangement affect speed or it's from BIOS firmware?

Storage device - Local & Remote ???

I purchased 2 DL360 G9 servers with RAID controller P440ar. When I install VMWare ESXi, the system detect that the logical volume (with RAID controller) is remote, not local. I want to ask why it can be like that, and will I meet any issues in the future because of this?

Hello HP,

I've contact enterprise support in combination with our P440 Smart Array Controler. We own the HP Proliant DL160 gen9 (P/N: 783361-425). Because our model doesn't have a HDD backplane we cannot find the right cable for the Smart Array P440 in combination with our model.

I've got a few questions:

- Does the H240 suite in my server?
- We currently use the B140i RAID controller, if we replace the RAID controller do we lose data?

attached the view of the current cable connected to the HDD's

HP proliant dl580 not booting

Hi all,

Last week I was assigned to review old equiment that was not in use.

One of the devices is a HP Proliant DL580 G7.

When I tried to power up the device pressing the steady orange power button, it does turn green but only for 1-2 secs, the fans spin max for 1 sec as well and then it power cycles itself.

After doing so 4 times the server stays off with the health led blinking red.

I did some research about the issue and followed the manual for troubleshooting:

  • I tried to power up the server from the 4 different power supplies and with combinations, f.i. PS1+PS2, PS1, PS2+PS3...
  • I swapped the power supplies to slot 1 and tried to power up.
  • I removed 3 CPUs and left only 1.
  • I removed all memory less than tray1 (with 2x4GB).
  • I removed the memory completely.
  • I removed all hard disks.

None of this improved the situation. I tried to look for logs via ILO3 but I cannot access (don't have former password) I tried to reseat the password with the system mantenaince switch S5=ON, but it does not reset the password, maybe it doesn't stay enough time powered up.

I see the alphanumeric display showing repeatly numbers 00 and 80, but I couldn't find its meaning.

I recorded a small video and uploaded to my public dropbox, maybe it helps:

Any advice is welcome.

Windows Server 2008 installation - Keyboard & mouse disabled

Hello all,

Since yesterday, I'm dealing with a very annoying problem :

I'm trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on a HP Proliant ML30 Gen 9, but when I boot on the DVD, then get to the first step of the OS install, both my keyboard and my mouse cease to work.

As long as I'm in the BIOS, all USB devices are working, but it's just after the "Starting Windows" loading window that they stop to work (all LEDs turn off).

I tried to plug them in other USB ports, I checked in the System Configuration that USB options are all correctly enabled, but nothing changes, all my USB ports (even the one on the motherboard) are immediately disabled at the moment i'm entering into Windows install.

Has anyone run into the same problem with a proliant server or even any kind of server ?

Hi All,

So I configured iLO on a DL 360 G8 server and everything has been working great.  I recently installed some more RAM on the server and when I restarted the server noticed that iLO lost all its settings.  I then figured it out if I unplug the server iLO resets itself.  Anyone else see these or have any ideas on this one?

Thanks!

ProLiant BL460c G1 Drivers\Firmware

Hi All,

Im having issues with a ProLiant BL460c G1 which are connected storage via iSCSI (D2200sb Storage Blade).  On the ESXi host (ESXi 5.0 U3) im seeing “Lost access to volume ***** due to connectivity issues. Recovery attempt is in progress and outcome will be reported shortly".

Im presuming this is a driver and\or firmware issue with the NC373i Integrated Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter.  Could someone assist me in finding compatible drivers and firmware so that i can test to see if this resolves the issue.
