HP SUM 7.5.1 - Admin$ Share not reachable - not local admin - not domain admin - reachable in Explor

Hello,

i'm trying to use HP SUM to update all my Proliants.

I already used it for local installation but now i want to do the same remote. But i cannot access the admin$ share (the software says so, it is not true).

I used higher priviledged accounts. I executed HP SUM as admin. -> no change

I tried to access it from the system where HP SUM is installed with the windows explorer -> works like a charm

Found the solution to upgrade to the newest version (was using 7.4 before). Did not work either.

Can anyone help me with this?

Best regards

Stephan

consumer SSDs in ML 350 G6 with smart array p410i controller

$

I am only using the HP ProLiant ML350 G6 servers with smart array p410i controllers in a development environment, but I would like to get the speed of enterprise SSD, without spending the $, as this is not going to ever have even a fraction of the workload of the production environment.

Forget that the solution is not optimal, are there any technical barriers prohibiting me from installing consumer grade SSD drives into the drive carriers and using them in the hot swap drive bays in the front of each server?

I accept that I will probably burn through the individual drives at a more rapid pace, but don't want to bother if there is no way to even get this functioning.

Any advice, suggestions, or documentation are appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed

Removing DL380 g6 and g7 from rack.

I don't know where the rail kit instructions got off to, or if the instructions were provided with either server, which we bought refurbished. I can't see any markings or indications or features on the rails that would indicate how to get the server to slide out past the first stop at about 12-3/8 inches or how to release it from the rails. The rail kit of the g7 is product number 616992-001. I've searched high and low and found no usable help. The g6 looks the same as the g7, so I guess the product number for that rail kit will be similar, if not identical.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

ProLiant DL380p G8 - Powering (and fitting) a Quadro K6000 card

Trying to find the parts needed to power and fit for an NVidia Quadro K6000 grphx card into our server - ProLiant DL380p G8. Have the standard pci riser board, but the card will not fit into the pci x16 slot due to it being double height and the x16 is top slot and clearance issues. We are also trying to find the cables needed to power the card, it has 2 6-pin connections it needs. We've got 2 750w psu's, but I'm not sure how to tap into them.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

How can I monitor a HP RX2660 to get CPU Temperature and other ?

Normally I have to use the iLO2 MP LAN port, no ? I can't access at 127.0.0.1 (connection refused).

If it's possible, I would like to use Nagios and SNMP protocol but I don't have the MIB file.

Thanks for your support,

hp SUM issues

I managed to create a custom image to include the HP SUM, after FINALLY getting it to boot up, it ran once, created a baseline and now it just hangs.  Yes, I made sure the components added were for my server.  So what the hell?  Can someone please tell me how to get my server updated.  No I do not have an OS installed, No, I can't connect to ANYTHING, nor can I connect ANYTHING to my server. All I can do is use bootable DVDs.

this is the worst process, I have ever encountered in my 17 years as an admin.  HP doesn't take in to consideration, that there just might be environments, that ABSOLUTELY can not connect to ANYTHING!  So why not just bring the **bleep** CDs back.  or make them easily manageable.   No, I can't use Dual layer DVDs, so yes, I have to be sure it fits on a regular DVD...NO this isn't my company's policy, its DOD policy, mind you who HPE just happens to have a billion dollar contract with.

Determine the installed version of the Power Capping Microcontroller Firmware

$

For my Gen9 DL360's, I want to install the "Advanced Power Capping Microcontroller Firmware" on servers that need it. (These servers run Windows, and I would install cp025309.exe.) I am trying to determine which servers need it, but I cannot seem to programatically determine what version of that firmware a server has installed. I have searched through every WMI class in root\hpq (where I typically find firmware versions) and cannot find it anywhere.

Can someone point me to a registry location, file, WMI class, even HP utility output that can tell me what version of that firmware I have installed?

Thanks,
Eric

Firmware Upgrade for OA + VC

Guys,

A confirmation needed - both VC and OA and running with 3.70 (with 460G7 Blades) ,and needs to be updated to 4.50.

Couple of Questions -

1.

Please confirm > As per compatibility table, VC running at 3.70 is compatible with OA running 4.50 -

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=mmr_kc-0100204-12

2.  If we schedule upgrade of VC later, and just concentrate on OA upgrade, is this sequence of upgrade good  ?

3.60 > 4.11 > 4.23 > 4.30 > 4.40 > 4.50
