Make sure the correct hd controller is selected. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why it wasn't working. I had updated Intelligent Provisioning and the server's firmware BEFORE I started and still had the problem. It was only when I glanced at the controller (which I assumed I only had one) and it was not showing the HP Smart Array controller that came with the server. Once I changed it... I was able to adjust the partitioning.
Make sure correct controller is selected...
ML150G9 use B140i or H240 ?
I just bought an ML150G9
I have 4x 300GB 10K 6G SAS disks in my server, I want to use RAID10.
Which controller can I use best?
B140i or H240?
Both controllers are present in this server.
P2000 SAS Nightmare
I have setup a couple of P2000 SAS SANs using hyper v cluster over last few years perfectly fine.
However I am setting one up at the moment:
1x HP P2000 SAS SAN (Dual Controller)
2x HP ProLiant DL380 G6 Servers (with 2012 R2)
SAS HBA Card is LSI SAS2 2008 (HP branded - H211)
MPIO Installed to take advantage of the dual paths.
All servers, storage and windows are bang up to date, all recommended updates installed for clustering.
But.....
I am having a nightmare with performance, when accessing the CSV Shares I can get a long delay/timeouts/CSVs disappearing.
Checking the logs I see I/O errors saying CSV has gone offline.......event log complaining with c00000b5 error
If I copy a large file say a VHDX file to the CSV it will quite happily copy across until it gets to the very end of the copy progress sits there, timeout and I get a Not Responding.....CSV drive it's copying too goes offline!
I have ran the Cluster validation a few times and everything comes back perfectly, no warnings or errors.
I've installed every windows update under the sun with this
I've ran the SAN on standalone (SAS cable to Server) when copying files to the drive it copys then stalls, then hangs, then gives up
Anyone else had this?

Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Version 2016.10.0
Hello,
I was preparing for patching based on the asumption that new SPP will be released begining of October.
Today is October 11th, and still no new version is anounced.
Does anyone know if HP TS are planning to release new version in the near future?
HP Proliant ML350 G9 slow network access
Hello,
We just configured a HP Proliant ML350 G9 with Windows Server 2012 R2, which hosts one virtual server using Hyper-V. However it looks like the read and write operations to/from the host are quite slow.
For example:
1. It takes about 5 seconds to write a file from the host to the a network share, and also 5 seconds to read it.
2. It takes about 5 seconds to write a file from the network to the host, and also 5 seconds to read it.
I have test this with virtual server turned of, and turned on - it does not affect network transfers. I disalbed the Virtual machines queues - does not change the results.
I will appreciate any help :)
Thank you,
Daniel
Could anyone please tell me if this price is about right?
I have been givne a quote for a server, and have tried to look up prices on-line to make sure it's not over the odds, but haven't been able to get a close comparison - could someone please let me know if they think this is in the right ball park?
It's a HP DL380 Gen9 rack server with 24 Bays, 8 of which will have 1.2TB HDD in - the other 16 will be left empty for future growth. 128Gb RAM and Dual 8 core processors (although I don't know the speed) . we've been quoted around £10,000
Many thanks in advance!
use a d2700 SAS storage enclosure with a DL580
I have a D2700 SAS enclosure I would like to use as a shared storage with my DL580 Gen8 box (win2012). I have a P411 controller card connected via mini SAS cables, but am having trouble getting the server to see the enclosure.
I updated the drivers and firmware for both boxes, both cards (internal P830 and external P411) but no luck.
What am I missing?
Please help.

SSA - how do i save the boot disk data when changing from hba mode to smart array mode
Greetings,
My client has a DL380 Gen9 that had a small SSD added in for testing. CentOS 7 was installed and my customer began working to configure the OS. He recently requested that I install a RAID5 array comprised of four 1TB drives. When I got into SSA, I found that the P440ar was in HBA mode. The SSA says that if I change to RAID mode, the boot drive will become unavailable.
Is there any way to switch the P440ar from HBA Mode to RAID Mode and keep the boot SSD? The user really doesn't want to have to start over.
Thanks...
Cheers,
Dan
HP DL360 Gen9 - add usb hubs?

new Microserver install "Boot logical drive is configured but missing or uninstalled"
I am trying to install Windows Server 2012 R2 on my new HP Microserver Gen8. However, no matter what I do I get the message "Boot logical drive is configured but missing or uninstalled". I have investigated the BIOS and restored to default. I have used ACU to configure the single drive as a RAID 0 and have tried three different drives now. Can anybody help? Searching on other forums leads to unhelpful (so far) advice on other servers. The boot process on the microserver is not like the other servers.

HP SUM iLO Nodes up to date.
Hi,
I'm managing a large estate with multipule HP servers. We have iLO 4 set up on them. As part of this i'm trying to keep the firmware up to date with HP Smart Update Manager 7.5.1.
The problem im having is that I have imported the latest iLO 4 update file (2.44) into it as a baseline, and applied it to a node group of iLO 4, and run an inventory on it. However the node group is reporting that all nodes are up to date, despite it listing the installed and active versions of the iLO 4 firmware as 2.40?
Is there anything that you can suggest for me to try?
Thanks
Matt

how to undo a previous owners linux firmware update to the windows version using bootable hp sum
hi
desperately seeking help on this. i have an hp dl380 g7 and the previous owner installed the linux version of the p410 raid controller firmware. this is stpping me from installing windows server. i want to remove the linux firmware and install the windows version.
i want to reflash with the current windows firmware for this controller. however when i boot into the hp sum software it does not give me the option of installing the windows firmware for the p410. it just lists the linux firmware upon detection.
i tried creating a bootable winpe and copied the windows firmare to it but it fails when i try to run it.
HP ProLiant DL180 G6 with HP SmartArray P212 raid controller
Hello,
I have a HP ProLiant DL180 G6 with HP SmartArray P212 raid controller.
I can't make it work toggether
RAID controller doesn't show up in BIOS boot menu.
On booting up the server it just offers network boot and that's all
On booting up there is no message like "Press F8 to enter HP SmartArray P212 array configuration"
I get the latest bios for HP ProLiant DL180 G6, but it doesn't help.
Also after rebooting the machine, I'm getting this message:
>> Detect a Unsame SDRR/Configuration Image in Current BIOS
>> BMC SDRR Version : 2.17.1.204 --> 2.17.1.202
>> Loading updated SDRR/CONFIGURATION to BMC -- DO NOT POWER OFF
>> Erasing Sectors Done!
>> Uploading SDRR: 100%
>> Uploading Configuration: 100%
>> Update SDRR/Configuration Image successfully
>> Resetting BMC....
And after next reboot i get almost same message but with:
>> BMC SDRR Version : 2.17.1.202 --> 2.17.1.204
Seems it downgrades the "BMC SDRR", resets the BMC, updates it again to the previous version and so on.
Why does it may happen?
I tried to connect HP SmartArray P212 to desktop with Windows 7 and it works just fine.
Thanks.
