Gracias...

Re-purposing an old HP Proliant ML370 G3 to run BOINC projects

Hi there,

I am re-purposing an old HP Proliant ML370 G3 to run BOINC projects to pay back to the scientific community and help keep my computer room warm.

However the 'poor old thing' does not boot and the Internal Health LED is red on boot up.

I've done all the checking I can like reseating the memory, Smart Array card and have checked all the cabling and internal plugs.

All LEDs on the mobo are green and memory LEDs are off so RAM should be fine.

There is only one internal LED that is amber and that is on the SmartArray card and not sure if that has anything to do with it.

All 3 internal fans are running although only one has a green LED and two are not amber just no light at all but running.

Maybe this could be the problem?

Seriously clutching at 'straws' at the moment so please some one help me with this challenge.

I'm sure someone out there knows these old servers and can help me get it going again.

Many thanks, in advance.

ML350 G6 boot problem

Greetings!

I have an ML350 G6 workstation that want to speed up.
I put them in a SSD with PCI-e interface, and they offered to HP Z turbo drive card, but I think it is worth nothing, until you can boot from it. Specifically, the card can do it, but the server does not.
The Windows installer can see the card, but writes that the device is not bootable.
I could not find any settings in the BIOS which would make this possible.
Somebody's idea? How the G6 was persuaded to start a PCI-e card?
I thanked for all help.

gen8 hdd to gen6 server, with swapped caddies, doesnt recognize.

Hello.
We have Proliant DL320 G6. Recently got an ilo error:

Internal SAS Eclosure device failure (RAID1)

We asap bought an hdd, what was designed for Gen8 servers (because this hdd we could get the fastest) changed the caddies and hotswaped it with the failed one. But the server does not detected the hdd (it hasent rebooted jet). The ACU doesnt recognize it (shows the failed hdd info), also the ilo doesnt say anything, and no LED is not blinking on the HDD case.

Could this be because of the Gen8 HDD? Or there could be some problems with controller?

failed hdd: MB0500EBNCR

new one: MB0500GCEHE

Thanks.

Wake on LAN for ProLiant DL160 G6

Hi

I have been trying to get Wake on LAN to work with my ProLiant DL160 G6.  I understand from the specifications that this product supports WOL but I do not have ILO on this server.  I have enabled the setting in the BIOS under PCI Options, and then tried to send a magic packet from several different machines and nothing wakes the machine.

This server is going to be hidden away and only used occasionally, so I cannot justify the power costs of leaving it on 24/7, so WOL is really important to me.

Any advice on how to make it work!?

Thanks

Hello,

suddenly our server shut down and try to restart continuosly.

ILo2 Log reports continuosly "Power loss due to overheating. Attempting to restore power" if I try to turn on power.

The temperature in the room is about 20° C and all the others server are working fine.

What could be the problem?

Ilo2 firmware is 2.01

Thanks Francesco

410i array says hard drives need firmware update - but which version?

$

I have a DL380-G7 server with a P410i array controller running version 6.64. I'm getting messages that the hard drive firmware needs to be updated from the Smart Storage Administrator. Unfortunately HPsum doesn't recognize that the hard drives need a firmware update. How do I know which version of the firmware to use? Do I go with the latest hard drive firmware? Or do I go with the hard drive firmware that was out when the array controller went to version 6.64?

Thank you...

DL180 g9 over SNMP reports as failed

We have multiple servers proliant servers and now I am testing zabbix SNMP reporting.
Now I am connected just 8 servers for testing (all identical DL180 G9) and reporting works fine in 7 of them, but one reports as failed over SNMP while on ILO webpage it says that everything is fine.

I am using "CPQHLTH-MIB::cpqHeMibCondition.0" parameter. As I mentioned it works fine in 7/8 servers and reports (4 -  failed) only in one. Any ides?

Restarting ILO works just for a few moments and afterwords it's failed again.

DL360 G8 - Memory Issue

All,

I have a DL360p Gen8, deployed with 128GB RAM,

We're having intermittement rebooting, believed to be a result of a faulty DIMM, which we want to remove as a short term solution.

Question is, do need to remove more than one DIMM across the 2 processors, or will removing the faulty DIMM be sufficient ?

New ML110 Gen9. I have trouble.

Hello,

I bought a new ML110 gen9 server one week ago. I didn't install anything extra,  no any PCI card and just 8GB ram. There is no CPU load as well.  Installed Proxmox and 1 plain VM.

The machine makes terrible noise which is hard to stand in a home environment. Just checked the box closely. The noise is coming from the PSU fan. It is pushing a lot of air by making much noise. The PSU is a 350W Chicony. I also checked the BIOS setting for fan speed and verified that "Optimal" is selected. Room temp is around 18degC.

What is wrong? What should I do to reduce noise level? I would appreciate any help.

HP Proliant DL 380 G7 Drives unassigned upon windows server 2012 Reinstallation

Hello

the Local disk drive(300GB SAS)  with the operating system (windows server 2012) 3running our organization domain services showed signs of failing and we decided to replace it with a new 600GB .

the server have other 5 SAS disk drives that host users data and are shared to them

Upon reinstallation and replicating the active directory services from another server,I booted the server to check the drives but they arent there.

When i boot the server using the HP smartstart CD  array i see the drives are unassigned, with the option of creating an array /logical drives with them.

I am not sure though of doing this as they have data and i wouldnt want to lose the crucial data.

Kindly advise me on what i can do and whether creating an array ( from the unassigned drives when using HP smart start CD) will erase all the data present.?
