DL160 Gen 9 - Deploying Server 2016 using Intelligent Provisioning

Hello,

I have an issue with a DL160 Gen 9

There are two identical servers, both with P440 array and slightly different disks (one has 600's the other has 300's).

On both servers, I have done the following

Updated the BIOS and the P440 firmware to the latest versions

Updated Intelligent Provisioning to the latest version (2.50) using bootable ISO.

On one DL160, deployed Server 2016 flawlessly

On the other, it just wont deploy past Windows being unable to create partition (using the same Windows ISO)

The problematic DL160 has been reset pretty much to factory defaults, I've tried various combinations during the IP process, nothing works.  I've even erased the array and recreated.

The IP process does see the P440 and the array I have configured and the IP process gets as far as copying the .wim files.  On next reboot, wpeinit starts up and loads drivers.

Then when you agree to Windows etc, this is what I get.

Any ideas please?  Pulling out what little hair I have left!

StorageWorks CN1000E Converged Drivers (Server 2016)

I have a CN1000E converged installed on my Server 2016 machine and am trying to find the correct driver for it to be recognized. Anything that I can find is only 2012R2 related or earlier. Is there a location I can find the correct drivers for this?

Hibernating Microserver Gen8 causes it to crash

I just a Microserver Gen8 and installed Windows Server Essentials 2016.

 I would like the server to hibernate overnight to save power, however when I execure shutdown -h the server appears to crash.

I connected via iLo, opened a command prompt with Admin rights and did shutdown -h
 
The screen immediately went black, but the server is still on, however iLO is not showing anything on the screen at all.
 
I basically think it is crashing or hanging? The server doesn't respond to pings or remote desktop, but the blue light is on, as are the fans, and the network LED is flashing.
 
All firmware and drivers are up to date.
 
I'm a bit stumped!

ILO Update : Which version should we select ?

Hi,

We have a HP ProLiant DL160 Gen 8 server, with VMWare ESXi 6.0.0 actually installed on it.

We started to update it to VMWare ESXi 6.5, but the upgrade stopped, stating that we need to update the HP ILO before going forward.
Our current HP ILO is 600.9.0.2.8-1OEM.600.0.0.2159203

So here is my question : Which ILO should I select ?
- Should I pick an ILO version from this page (related to my ACTUAL version of ESXi 6.0) ?

DL160 Gen9 increased fan noise dramaticly after Service Pack upgrade

Hello, yesterday i've ran latest Service Pack upgrade on my DL160 G9 and after that i hear much increased fan noise... What can be the issue??

DL380 Gen 9 all on-board & NIC card ports dead

Seen this issue on 6 DL380 Gen9's so far. Anyone else?

4 boxes running RHEL 6 - after a cold reboot none on the network ports work - on-board or on the FlexLOM card.

HPE had to change both the system board & the FlexLOM card to get the network ports working again.

2 boxes running ESXi 6.5.0 network ports have just stopped working with the same symptoms.

Can see the ports in the BIOS but nothing in the iLO. ESXi sees the ports but no lights on at all.

Pushing for a root cause analysis from HPE - all firmware is SPP2016100

Problem server hp 380dl gen9

When I turn-on or I turn-off  my server HP Proliant  380dl gen9 health LED FLASHING GREEN and when I consulted guide user I found *****Flashing green (1 Hz/cycle per sec) = iLO is rebooting*****Now who can help me to resolve this problem........Thanks

HP DL380 G5 with vmware esxi 5.0u3 - Bios update (System ROM)

Hi, I have a test environment made of a dl380 g5 server with mounted on it vmware hypervisor esxi 5.0u3 (hp custom image). The server is already updated with latest SPP (2014.06.0). The problem is that the system ROM (BIOS) does not update. From the HP VMWare recipes it tells me to install the 2011.05.02 (P56) System ROM. On the server I have the 08.03.2008 (P56). 

This seems to be the cause of multiprocessor BSODs on VMs that I create on it (BSOD with Windows VMs set up with more than 1 core cpu).

Please, can you address me to find the correct BIOS for above environment?

HP Proliant DL360 G7 server error processor

Good morning,
I have a HP Proliant DL360 G7 server that inexplicably went off alone to the Toggle Next startup presented the following error:
Health LED red light on and the red light on processor 1 on System Insight Display.
If I turn it off and relight the problem remains plus the server enters loop as it tries insistently to reboot itself.
I already tried to eliminate all the additional components (ram hdd, network cards etc.) I have already reset the bios also having a second processor is also in error, I also tried to use only one but the problem it remains.
I hope someone can give me an indication to sirolvere the problem.

INSTALLATION WINDOWS 10

GOOD AFTERNOON! 

PLEASE SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME, I'M TREATING TO INSTALL WINDOWS 10 ON AN HP PROLIANT ML310e Gen8 PC, WHICH CURRENTLY HAS SOME WINDOWS SERVER.

 

BUT THE WINDOWS SERVER IS DAMAGED AND THE PC DOES NOT WORK, I WANT YOU TO CHANGE THE SOUND TO WINDOWS 10 BUT THE INSTALLATION IS INTERRUPTED SINCE YOU DO NOT FIND A DEVICE DRIVER. I TRIED DOWNLOADING THE DRIVERS BUT ALL HAS FAILED ME.

 

PLEASE IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME I WILL BE VERY THANKFUL.

Wrongly installed outdated bios firmware proliant dl360 g9

Hi, I have a new proliant dl360 g9 with a E5-2620V4. after some looking I found dat you could update the firmware without an OS installed through the intelligent provisioning ( I'm not used to work with HP servers ). what was strange was that when the software checked online for some firmware it gave me outdated version of the firmware to update to and only the currently installed firmware for the network driver was outdated ( see picture ). so i checked the box for the netwrok driver but when i moved to the install button i accidentally hit the one for the bios firmware. i know you get a summery of what you are going to update but i double clicked the first because my mouse was acting strange so i left the install without knowing what was happening. after rebooting i get a post error because my processor stepping is unsupported. because the installed version is of 2015 and i think the V4 version where not available then. 

 

my question is is there a way to restore the bios firmware to factory setting using the redundant bios feautre ( if available on this server )  or a way to install the latest version using, with what i found on the internet, ROMPAQ utility or just contact HP support. i don't have a V3 cpu on hand to use to update the bios firmware.

how to improve performance of DL380 G9 Vmware esxi System

Hello, 

we are looking for better RDP permformance. Customer complains this things:

- scrolling in MS Word,  "typical RDP behaviar when not sitting in front of the mashine"
-usual tasks in their SQL based commercial software, switching Windows, Queries, etc..
- behavior of the typical power use  /  lots of open Windows in RDP Session

They have normal 1-2y year old windows 7 PCs, no thin clients.

What are your thoughts on this situation?  Do you have any Idea to imporve it?   thx in advance!

 

The new vmware server has the below mentioned specs.

We are running this VMs on it:  

win2012 as SQL   (3 x SQL Database á 10 GB)
2x win2012 Domaincontroller
2x win12 WTS for 20-30 Users
1 x File/App Server as WTS Connection Broker

two CPU E5-2630v3 
5x16 GB RAM
14X HPE 600GB 12G SAS 15K rpm with HPE 12Gb SAS Expander Card
two SAS SSD 200 GB SAS Endurance drives for HPE Smart Cache Licence

Reactivating RAID5 Volume (german)

Hallo,

ich habe an einem P400 (FW 7.24 512MB Cache, Akku ok) 4 SATA-Festplatten a 2TB im RAID5-Verbund. Alle 4 Festplatten werden auch als vorhanden und intakt angezeigt. Das logische Laufwerk wurde jedoch vom Controller deaktiviert. Ich könnte jetzt über den SSA das logische Laufwerk wieder reaktivieren. Dort steht jedoch "Die zuvor auf dem logischen Laufwerk vorhandenen Daten werden dadurch möglicherweise ungültig bzw. können nicht wiederhergestellt werden." Wie hoch ist die Chance, das es bei einem Reaktivieren des Laufwerks tatsächlich zu Datenverlust kommt? Würde ich dadurch ggf. noch mehr Schaden an den Daten hervorrufen?

Ich habe leider kein deutschsprachiges Forum gefunden, hoffe jedoch, das mich hier auch jemand versteht und weiterhelfen kann.

Registering Gen8/9 servers to remote support - Large number of servers

Hi all,

 

I'm trying to register all our servers to remote support, but it's difficult to login to each servers' ilo and register it manually  ( especially when there's 600 servers )

 

Is there any solution to get this done automatically ?  I have an excel list of the servers ofcourse.

I have a HPE Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC 12Gb 1-port Int SAS Controller

and im trying to find cables for it as i has a strange 8x1 connector and i need to get it to standard ports(idealy sff-8087 or a fan out cable)

i also have a cable that I thought would do this, but the ends are larger then sff-8087

i have a HPE XL190R   806527-b21 which doesnt fit, what other  cables are available for this card

Problems with Hp ProLiant dl320 G3 (Smart Start)

Hi, I'm relatively new to servers. I've recently encontered an issues with an Hp ProLiant dl320 g3. This server needs to be re imaged with Windows Server 2008 R2. I've attemped to use Hp Smart Start V6.30 and V7.00 and each time I boot into them I get a blank screen. It's white, but there are words and such there. I can use my mose to highlight the words on the loading screen. Once it loads it askes you to select your language, but the screen is still white and I have to use my mose to highlight the words to read them. Once I select the language, there's no next button and I get stuck. Any sugguestions? Thanks!

Dl380 g9 RAM

Dear all,

Good day, regarding to the above server quick specs that mixed 2133 and 2400 RAM is not supported, and in case of installing processor E5 2690 v3 2400 RAM is not supported also.

We made test environment and both cases work, so my question is will that mixed cause any hardware failure later?

can hpcucli add a new array of type sata to a p410i with an existing sas array?

I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. the error i get says devtype sata is not supported on the P410i.

I thought it was. This is a HPDL380 G7 running Ubuntu if that helps.
