SAS Predictive Failure process and how to avoid corruption Server 2012 R2
Product Name: DL380 G6
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)
This may not be the area to post this and this is a solution to a problem so feel free to move this to a more enterprise area of the forums. I had a HP Proliant DL380 G6 with a predictive hard drive failure. I replaced the drive via the hot swap option: CAUTION: DO NOT REPLACE A DRIVE WITH PREDICTIVE FAILURE WHILE SERVER IS OPERATIONAL. You must shut down the server to replace drives with predicitve hard drive failures. As a result of the hot swap, it corrupted one of my vhdx files (a 2010 Exchange Server). The symptoms of the problem was I could no longer copy files from this RAID 5 volume to any location, the copy would consistently fail and as a result I could not backup the data.
SOLUTION: Power off the server. Replace the drive with predictive failure with a known good drive (preferrably NEW drive) and then power on the server. The RAID rebuild should take place automatically. Then, run a CHKDSK /R on the affected RAID volume to allow Windows to replace the bad blocks. If all goes well, Windows should repair the drive and with any luck (as in my case) you will be able to recover your data and fire up your VM successfully.
The reason I am posting this is because it took me many hours of work and research to resolve this problem and I am trying to save someone else the trouble.

I have proliant DL385/G7 , I have just installed windows 2012 r2 on it , I am trying to work on it via ilo3 the problem I am facing is when I am working remotely on the server my typed keys are displayed wrong so if I press P it will display l , Can you please help ?

i have bought HP Proliant DL 180 G9 Server [P.N: 784108-425 ] and ships with its basic configuration no HDD no DVD ..etc
i have been tasked to use this server as a primary backup server for our data center using single LTO7 drive
my question is what are the nessary requirements like [riser cards , SAS cards SAS cables lto7 drives ..etc ] to connect the LTO7 to this server ?
Or at least where can i find them on the HP website ?

10gb NICs for ProLient 380's
Greetings,
We have a mix of DL380 G8's and G9's. We were discussing adding 10GB NIC's into our infrustructure and wanted to make sure we are ording the correct part. The interfrace will need to be SFP+. From what I could tell, part 665249-B21 looks like the correct part that should work in both variations of servers we have.
Just seeking confirmation before we order several of these.

Status from iLO Rest Doesn't Match That from hpssacli
I retrieved information for a logical drive on an HP Smart Storage Array on a ProLiant DL-380 Gen9 using the iLO Rest interface and the status returned is "warning". But if I get status for the same logical drive using hpssacli, it returns "OK". Does anyone have an idea why that might be? Also, I retrieved Ethernet card information using the Rest interface and all the interfaces returned "disabled" but two of them were definitely enabled and functioning. Why would iLO return that?

HP Proliant ML110 G7 Memory Error
I needed to replace the board of my Proliant ML110 G7 server.I mounted the new board on the server, but I'm having a little problem that I believe is some board configuration.I will explain: I installed the memories starting only with a memory in Channel 2-A.The server turned on and worked, so I installed a second memory on channel 4-B.This way the server did not turn on, turned on the system integrity led and turned on the constant beep. I did more tests with channel combinations, but with more than one memory the card works only using channels 2-A and 1-C. So, I conclude that dual channel memories are not working. I need to know if I should do any configuration to work.

HP DL360 G6 shows processor fault/failure even when CPUs replaced
Hi all,
I have a HP DL360 G6, I am getting SID showing that the CPUs are dead or failed even when I have replaced them. Also sometimes shows orange light on all DIMs too. I replaced the CPUs with the same model. No boot screen at all, just very loud fans and a long beep.
Really need help with this one. Server is not in warranty. Images attached.

DL20 optical drive configuration required
We recently added an optical drive to a DL20 server which (as far as I know) requires the B140i controller to be enabled.
I undid what was suggested here some time ago.

Proliant DL 380 G5 after swap rebuild and then failed

Hello Everybody
We had some Problems with our Pro Liant.
We had 2 Hard Disks which are shows an Error (Predictive Failure), but the System still running Fine.
Yesterday i want to check if the error comes from the Slot Bays on the Server.
So i switched an hard drive and waiting for rebuild on the vsphere client screen.
After the rebuild everything seems normal and after few minutes it shows the same error on another Hardrive.
So the Drives with errors are 3 and then it shows the the Raid Fails.
Then i got the advice to restart the esxi and reenable the logic drive that may he recovering itself again.
So after i did this, the esxi shows alle hard drive in the Datastore and everything seems fine.
But when i tried to start the vm it comes an Error. And if i try to create a new storage he doesn't show any volume.
so i tried to get on the esxi console to list the volumes:
esxcfg-volume -l
But he shows nothing.
The only Solution which comes in my mind as well as the last one is to recreate the Array with hpsmart start. Fortunately we had made an Backup from the vm's ( methode type: download the folder from the datastore)
I know that the Issue affectes also the vmware software. But if somebody is familar with all, any help will be great.

ProLiant G8 ML350P Service Pack and Bios update.
Dear All,
I just bought a used ML350p for personal use, and it seems I cannot access Bios and SPP updates. It seems that there is an issue with my warranty.
Under European Law, support must be provided as long as issues on the hardware are not fixed. Can someone please explain to me how to access these updates or send me a link?

Smartarray E200 Interim Recovery
HI All,
I removed a faulty HDD from an ML110 Server with a SmartArray E200 Controller (expansion card NOT the E200i) set in a RAID1. I have now plugged two new HDD drives (both larger than the previous drive) into the drive bay (one hot-plug the other cold). Unfortunately, no matter what I try they both come up with Interim Recovery in the ACU.
Now the new drive says it is bad or missing?
Any help out there?

PROLIANT SERVER DL 380 G5 / SMART ARRAY P400
Good morning , could you support to me in the following issue ? customer has installed a HP PROLIANT SERVER DL 380 G5 for more than 9 years , it has installed SMART ARRAY P400 also for more than 9 year working every day more than 78800 hours continue , suddenly the card has started to fail , and when we boot the machine the card is not seen when we see the display from server , we have done at least 10 times the procedure and 9 times it has not been showed , just one time it was showed , Smart Array P 400 controller failure ( Not Found ) ( PCI DEVICE missing ) . please see the attachment.
Also we took the card out and also we cleaned the contact from server and from card , it included the PCIe slot properly
I have suggested to the customer to replace the SMART ARRAY CARD and also to get a refurbished Proliant Server DL 380 G5 just in case to replace the old existing , the first option is more possibility to do as first action

SMART ARRAY P400 PROLIANT DL 380 G5 / WINDOWS 2003 SERVER R2 SP2
Good morning , it is possible I need to install a new SMART ARRAY P400 card , but I would need to create a RAID1 configuration again because it is a new card , I am going to use F8 ORCA procedure , please does someone know this procedure to create a RAID 1 again ?
I would install the card into PCIe slot , then boot the server , I hope the server identifies the Smart Array Controller , then F8 and create the RAID1 configuration , the SAS disks already exist ,
Is there any problem with the information into the disks ?
