Dear All,

Can We Add more Graphic Card for DL360 Gen 9

I would need powershell script for configuring DL580 Gen 8 Servers BIOS Power supply requirements options .
I have recently obtained a ML350e for a home lab use and I'm getting the dreaded fan noise issues. The fans are running pretty much at a constant 33% and producing too much noise for a home environment. I have read various threads online from various people with various setups running various fixes and getting various results. So here's my scenario...
The base system is a E5-2407, 2GB HP Smart Memory, HP 500GB SATA hard drive and non-hotswap PSU. The system has Intel network adapters and the B120i SAS controller.
I had initially installed a M.2 / PCI-E SSD adapter card for the OS to boot from but removed it when I read addon cards, especially non-HP ones, can cause fan speed increases. It made no difference to the fan speed.
I had also upgraded to 32GB system RAM. It wasn't HP Smart Memory so I put it back to the original HP 2GB. It made no difference to the fan speed.
I have installed the full Redundant Enabledment Kit with a single 750W hot swap PSU, 2 extra fans and the PCI Card air baffle. It raised fan speed from a constant 29% to 33% (The 4 fans with the non-hotswap PSU ran at 29%).
The array controller has been in RAID and AHCI modes. No difference to the fans.
The BIOS power settings have been set for Dynamic, Static High performance, Static Low Performance and OS Control. Negligible difference to the fan speeds. Cooling is set for Optimal Cooling. Increased mode runs the fans at about 55% and maximum runs them at, well, maximum.
I've set PCI-Express 3.0 power control on and off when I've got cards installed. No difference.
Backup ROM / BIOS? No difference. In fact when I got the machine home it had the 2012 BIOS which got upgraded to 2014 with the SSP which calmed the fans down a bit.
Although not thoroughly tested, OSs don't seem to make any difference to the fan speed. I have used Windows Server 2016 (unactivated), clonezilla (based on a linux distro to clone the SSD to HDD) and the HP intelligent Provisioning from the BIOS menu.
iLO reports the CPU at 40 degrees C so I renewed the heatsink thermal paste. No difference. Not even to the 40C temperature. The hottest part of the system is "13-Chipset" at 44 degrees C. (Caution 105C, Critical N/A). Inlet ambient air temperature usually floats around 19 - 21C.
So where do I go from here? I'm going to try a Xeon E5-2450L CPU next to see how cool it runs being a lower TDP output than the E5-2407 and the only other possible thing I can think of is using dual PSUs in the hot swap configuration but it's only drawing 50watts according to iLO from a 750W supply.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I have installed a new DL380 G9 Server and trying to boot it from Virtual Media. But it seems that in UEFI mode, it is not detecting Virtual media and on network boot.
When i do it from one time Legacy boot it is successful. But during installation when it boots second time, it is taking UEFI boot from Network option.
Request to share what can be done. In UEFI mode it shows first priority as "BMC Virtual USB 2 : HLE iLO Virtual USB CD/DVD ROM". Also in Virtual Drives : Image File CD/DVD-ROM is checked with iso image.
Also it is not allowing to set boot menu to "LEGACY BIOS".
Request you to share any procedure, how it can be done. I have tried to DISABLE Virtual USB ports but it did'nt helped.

I have an Hp proliant ml350 g6 server .The problem is it goes off on its own,it will work for some days and then goes off. this morning i found it completly off. Any possible cause of this???
Hello All,
I have a farm of older dl380 G6 servers with these cards in. I can see from the advisory
that they need later firmware, but as the servers have Vsphere esxi 5.5, how do you deploy it to it ? The latest SPP does not have firmware for it on it, and the download page for the card only points to vmware drivers, not firmware.
any ideas ?
thanks

Hi!
My University is scanning all the campus servers with Nessus Vulnerability Scanner and they are complaining that my ILO4 (firmware 1.10 July 17 2012) on ProLiant ML350p Gen8 HP server has a "medium" risk level of vulnerability, so they are asking to solve this issue as soon as possible, to avoid potential attacks.
I enclose the "medium" risk entries of the report: all the problems are connected with the 443/tcp port, it seems I should update the version of SSL protocol to improve cipher, encription and certificate...
Actually I do not know what to do in practice, but I am also very cautious since ILO is very useful to monitor the system and I don't want to lose functionalities.
Is anybody able to help me safely in this respect?
Thank you very much in advance!
Mauro
Using the HPE Smart Storage Administrator, i created a RAID1 array (2x Toshiba 1TB + 1 spare) as Logical Drive volume and I tagged it as bootable (Dynamic Smart Array -> Set bootable logical Drive/Volume -> Logical Drive 1: Primary Boot Logical Drive/Volume).
After that I installed our Windows 2008 R2 Standard license using HPE Intelligent Provisioning:
Select Operating System:
. OS Family: Microsoft Windows
. Install method: Customized
. Source Media: DVD
_ Provide Operating System Information
. Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, Standard Edition
. OS LAnguage: English
. OS Keyboard: Italiano
. Computer Name: xxxxxx
. Administrator Password: <yyyyy>
At the end of process the server reboot, then starts (i believe) Windows PE then appears the background of Windows 2008 Server and finally a Window telling:
"Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Varify the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation. Error code: 0xC0000005"
I spent hours but with no luck.

Hello,
can anyone please give some more information about availability of latest Proliant Gen10 servers with AMD´s 32 core Epyc CPUs and Intel´s Skylake-SP 28 core CPUs? When will we be able to order those?

Hi
In the ILO GUI, if I compare ILO firmware levels of a set of machines (by viewing iLO Federation->Group Firmware Update), I see that the "Flash Status" is "Idle" in some cases and "Completed" in others. The systems are all behaving themselves but it would be nice to understand the reason for the difference.
Any ideas, please?
hi there.
I run an old DL380P Gen8 server at home and 2 bays are filled with seagate hard drives. Ilo report the system as "degraded" because of not authenticated drives.
I was wondering if there is a way to bypass the authentification step of the hard drive. I want to monitor this server by prtg, specially the HD health but don't want to receive constant alerts only because drives are not authetificated. It's an home purpose server and i can't spend such money for "real" HP drives.
thanks for any help
what is the metal attachment around my pci ports? does it serve a purpose and can it be removed?
Hello all,
I bought an hp ml350p generation 8 serverwith 2 cpu processors to using it in my home.
As the server is designed for farm server location use it makes a very loud noise as a jet turbine noise. You certainly know what I am talking about.
As it is not possible for me to use it in such condition of noise. I bought some quiet fans from noctua http://noctua.at/fr/nf-a14-pwm/specification (up to 1500 rpm and about 80 CFM). I was encouraged by these thread where it was working on generation 6 : https://greghunter1968.wordpress.com/2016/05/15/quiet-ml350-g6-it-is-possible/
Unfortunately, after replacing the old fans with noctua fans, although the fans were spinning the bios was detecting a fan failure at boot and restart after that :
fan 1 ailure detected
fan 2 failure detected
fan 3 failure detected
fan 4 failure detected
Fan Solution Not Sufficient
Do you have any idea what could be the problem ? Is there any possiblitity to disable fans error in bios ?
Here is the specs of the old fan : https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/delta-electronics/PFR0912XHE-SP00/603-1707-ND/3078695
and for FAQ about Noctua fans : http://noctua.at/en/support/faq/general-faqs/category/Fans
Many thanks
Hi
I have the ML350 Gen6 standard edition (the one with 3 * 2 GB of ram) that was off for 2 months. I tried to put it back online but all the DIMM led turned red (the two location) even if I only have one processor (the default). In the documentation HP say that is because the RAM is not compatible, (I have not touched the RAM). I tried to reset the configuration by removing the battery, replacing the RAM, switching the switch … but nothing changed.
What is wrong and how to correct it?
Sorry for my englsih.
Hello guys!
Will i be able to install new GPUs on this server? Also what I am planning on installing is a
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Mini, ZT-P10700G-10M, 8GB GDDR5
Thank you for those who will be able to help me with this.
I bought a refurbished DL380 G5 with two SSD as boot drives in a RAID. I tried to fill the other six slots with 1TB HGST mechanical drives, but the Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise OS doesn't recognize these drives.
At startup, (I first tried only one drive) the added drive's green LED flckers once or twice and then the server boots normally, but the added drive is not recognized in Server Manager's Storage window, even rescanning and refreshing the drives.
I moved the drive to all the slots, but no change.
I checked the BIOS settings but couldn't find anything that looked suspicious.
Any ideas or comments?
