Hello folks,
i've updated my HP DL380p Gen8 Server with the news Service Pack for Pro Liant (SPP) 201704. But the System ROM kept on version "P70 07/01/2015". Also the system ROM Bootblock kept his version on 03/05/2013.
So, does SPP include every update for the serves or are there any hardware devices that are skipped?
Hi Geeks,
I have the above server with x 2 Intel Xeon E5 2600 Series processor socket but I want to remove one of the processor so that only one will be licensed by my VMWare esxi key(for 1 cpu).
I have tried removing one processor kit but the machine wont power on again so I fitted it back in and it is working again. Is this workable(Removing a processor kit/socket)?
Thanks
Something happened to a few iLO4 devices (not sure exactly what yet) that caused them to lose all settings (except NIC was still correct, so I could connect remotely) and then on the overview page after login, I see a bunch of unknowns for various details. I have attached a screen shot. The server is no unable to be managed in HP SIM as well via AMS. I believe the fans are also running at full speed now...as if power management is broken.
I have tried updating the firmware and restarting the iLO several times. The only thing I have not done is pull the power on the server to cold boot it. Has anyone else seen this? Will cold-booting fix this? Or is there a less extreme action one can take to fix this. Trying to avoid outage to the server....
Thanks
NK

I fail to understand which ones or higher can I install/compatible for 2-CPUS on my system.
I need help to know what is the best choise and performance to have 2-CPU installed and to replace my 5130.
Thank you and good day!
Hello Everyone
My DL380 Gen9 got rebooted unexpectedly. Upon checking the ILO logs i found a UMCE (Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception - picture attached below). The server is back online but in degraded state. I followed the GEN 9 troubleshooting guide which tells me to replace the processor of my server. Any leads as to what is the problem and how it can be fixed other than the replacement ?
Thanks in advance !
Best,
Zohair

Hello,
I just picked up a Microserver Gen 8 and I'm using it for a home NAS for personal files and media. I wanted to use a 60GB SSD for a boot drive, allowing me to have all 4 drive bays free. However, I am unable to boot from the ODD bay UNLESS I put the SSD into RAID1 from within the ILO suite. Then I am able to boot to the drive like normal.
How would I go about fixing this? People have said it's a pretty bad way of setting it up and in my opinion its a pretty botched way. So how would I go about just allowing normal SSD boot without using RAID and just seeing it as a normal SSD?
One of our ProLiant DL360e Gen8 -Rebot frequently.
We are not able to find the root cause.
HP recomended to upgrade firmware for System ROM Bootblock & System ROM Bootblock.
Redhat also confirmed there is no OS related issue.
Your comments please
Hello,
Greetings!
I want to know the EOL date for HP DL560. because we have purchessed 40 servers (380 & 560) out of that 5 serves are only 560 which got 4yr warranty rest of the serves are for 5yr. checked with procurment team but they are also unable to answer.
So 1 point is team has persposly purchessed for 4yr or HP told that for DL 560 you will get only 4 yr ( till Feb 2017) rest server can get 5ry (Feb18).
Help! I need to install the network adapter driver on Proliant ML10 Gen9 on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials ROK, no driver seems compatible.
I am desperate
Thank you
We have a cluster of ProLiant DL360p Gen8 servers with the Xeon E5-2640 (6-core) processors and are thinking about upgrading the processors. In looking around I noted that there are are other v1 processors with 8-cores that would probably work well in our environment. Specifically, I am thinking about the Xeon E5-2665 or Xeon E5-2670 processors (both v1).
My questions are 1) am I correct in thinking that these would be direct replacements? and 2) would I need to upgrade the 460W power supplies to either the 500W or 750W units as the processors have a slightly higher power consumption (95W vs 115W).
We had thought about upgrading to the v2 processors but those are still a bit pricey and I don't know that we would get that much better performance.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Hi,
I am new to this Please Help me.
We have a HP server (HPE DL380 Gen9 E5-2630v4 1P 16G-India Svr, 2XIntel® Xeon® E5-2630v4 ) with Raid 1 configuration.
We want to install RHEL 7 in it.
Can I insert a rhel 7 iso through ILO virtual disk and install it?
Will I face any driver issues if do so?
Should I download any drivers from Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center before installing it?
What is the recomonded way to install RHEL 7 In HPE DL380 Gen9 E5-2630v4 server?

Hi, I currently had a hp proliant ml350 g6 and has 1 raid 1 with 2 disk of 500 gb the array is 500 gb.
We bought 2 sas of 900 gb we have been replacing the discs first the damaged one and when it is rebuilt we have replaced the second one.
Well now we have the 500 gb array but with 2 900 gb disks tell me that I have unassigned 44%
The controller is a p410i is there possibility to expand and approve the entire size?
I have the memory and HP battery for the controller
Smart array tells me that the battery is exhausted and that it is changed.
I think it has disabled the expansion and migration and acceleration ....
To change it will activate the expansion ???
Hello,
I have 2 of DL360p's that have both been sitting in an aircon server cabinet for about 5 years. One of them started giving the PSOD so I upgraded firmware, ilo and vmware, and sicnce then it's been great.
I just did exactly the same with the other Gen8, even using the same media (I did it from the SPP image -
Service Pack for ProLiant 2017.04.0)
Now just on this server, once it's run through the BIOS settings, as soon as it boots into *either* vmware or for example intelligent provisioning (ie. after the double beep) the fans run to 94% and it is incredibly noisy. So the only change is new firmware. What I've tried changing:
Power settings
Fan settings - set to optimal cooling
Note the fans in the matching server in the same cabinet are at 19% as expected. in iLO all the temperature readings are showing normal as per the other server.
The only other thing to add is that since this upgrade, Bios and iLO complain about non-HP disks, which it didn't before. I can't imagine that has made the difference.......
So it isn't really likely to be something that just broke as I did the upgrade - has this happened to anyone else and what was the fix?
thanks
Hi everyone,
I was recently given a 380g8. It is been a little while since I have dealt with the hardware of a server., so I am hoping you all can answer a few questions for me.
Thanks in advance!
I have a HP EliteDesk 705 G1 desktop that is using 2 x 4GB 1Rx8 PC3-12800U-11-13-A1 sticks for a total of 8GB RAM. My friend told me that he has a few Proliant server memory which might be ok for me to use. Will this work? If so, what specific specs should i look out for in order for the memory to work on the EliteDesk? Is there a specific part # or similar code on memory that will make it work? Thank you.
HI Everyone,
I am new to HPE Community and hope you could help with a quick advise. My group inherited 3 HP Proliant DL 380 G7 servers.
1. HP Proliant DL 380 G7 1x146GB SAS, no ram
2. HP Proliant DL 380 G7 2x600Gb SAS +2x146Gb 18x4GB DIMM
3. HP Proliant DL 380 G7 8x600 Gb 8x8GB DIMM
My question is about the recomended memory & HDD configuration if I would like to get most our of this hardware for analytics cluster for R&D projects that include Apache Spark, Hadoop, Mesos, etc plus I would need spare capacity to deploy own services. Lastly but not least I was wondering if I could install NVidia GTX 1080Ti (x16 ePCI) for Machine Learning.
I plan on using Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS.
for Spark/Hadoop cluster I planned on dedicating at least one or two servers to host data-nodes and workers therefore highest speed memory with at most capacity would be needed probably maximizing the storage size as well for HDFS. Second should host Mesos, cluster node and resource management applications probably on 2 VMs. any spare capacity may host other services like Kafka, NiFi. Kylin
I also need to squise in Solr/ElasticSearch instance, than KNIME, TIBCO Servers with Simba ODBC driver.
Thanks in advance for your time
