Replacement drives detected or previously failed drives now appear to be operational. What to do?

Hi,

I have a DL380 Gen8 server which is connected to an enclosure. To a power loss event, server shut down and after boot I'm receiving this error message:

Replacement drives detected or previously failed drives now appear to be operational.

Logical drives disabled due to possible data loss.

Select F1 to continue with logical drives disabled.

Select F2 to accept data loss and to re0enable logical drives.

I haven't changed any disk and all disks appears to be healty and led is green. is there any possible data loss? what can I do before re-enabing logical drives??

ML 350 G6 Processor socket cover?!

Hello,

I have inherited a ML350 G6, but it has issues. It was put together with parts from a couple other ML 350's. The tech added a 2nd processor, but failed to install a 3rd or 4th fan, so it will not boot (due to "fan solution not sufficient"). Before I source a 3rd fan, I would like to pull the 2nd processor out and get it running to see if the other components are working, or if this thing is just junk. 

 

My question is, what was covering the 2nd processor socket, before the processor was installed? Can I run it with out this cover in place. It looks like a plastic cover from what I can see by googling. Will the server boot up if this is not installed?

HP Smart Array P410 firmware request

Hello,

I'm trying to find HP Firmware version 3.66 for ESXI for my HP P410 Smart Array.  Specifically, Online ROM Flash Component for ESXI - Smart Array P212, P410, P410i, P411, P711m, P712m, and P812 Firmware - Storage Controller 3.66 " package

I have found the windows version, but can't find the esxi version.  The website doesn't show legacy versions.

Can you point me in the right direction?

Can someod give me list of check ne need to do before ccompltely deinstalling server. Like sme i have mentioned below:-

-> Check if any service is runnning on the server.

-> Check if any data is there on the server.

-> Check if server is in cluster.

-> If part of cluster make sure to transfer the services to some other server to make sure other clients do not get impacted.

-> Check if server is part of domain.

If by anychance somebody think that above points need alterations can post thier views and we have discussion on this.

Eagerly waiting for views of others.

HP DL785 G6 Won't POST

Not sure if anyone can help me with such an old server. I bought it from eBay a few months ago but for one reason or another I didn't power it on until the other day. Now I cannot get it to boot most of the time. 

At first I was getting an error on the SID showing amber lights against all DIMM slots in CPU Cell 1 so I took it out, reseated all the memory and tried again. This did not work. I then swapped the CPU Cell with slot 8 (the Bott CPU) and the the error lights moved. So I thought the issue must be with that cell., put the old one back and the errors stayed. I then swapped the other cells around (I have four) and I would vary from no POST, to errors, to only seeing one or 2 CPU cells. 

At the moment bays 1-2 & 7-8 are populated and all lights are green. But no POST or display. No beeps or anything else.

Proliant DL380P G8

Hello...No server section so posted it here.  I have a couple DL380p G8 boards that cause the Insight Diagnostic Panel to light up completely. The boards test and run perfectly and the panel works fine with other boards. Is there a known cause for this? ThnxDL380P.jpg

HP Proliant ML350P G8: creating another RAID

Hi,

The company I work for has an HP ProLiant ML350P G8 server, currently with a RAID 1 setup with two disks.

We wanted to increase our storage and purchased 4 new HDs (WD RE, code WD1003FBYZ, which are the same model of the 2 already present).  I've turned off the server, inserted the 4 new disks and booted into the ACU. In the top left menu there was an error: no controller found!

That seemed very strange. I then proceeded to turn off the server, remove all the new disks and booted again into the ACU.  This time the controller appeared on the list, showing the older 2 disks in raid 1:

So I've inserted one of the new disks. I noticed that the led on the caddy blinked green for a split second and then turned orange. I tried refreshing the controller detection and the disk detection but the new disks didn't appear at all. Another strange things is that some seconds after the fans went to full speed.

Could you help me sort this out please?

G7 N36L red button

When i start the server, the Button is red. Offcourse one things it is the mainbaord, but is it somehow possible to troubleshoot this? Tried clearing the bios(hope i did that right) but that gave me only a different kind of red(more pink) colored button.


replaced the memory,r emoved averything, but still red.

ml30 gen9 uefi integrated System test page fault

Hi,

I have a new ML30 gen9 with a single 4gb dimm and a single 1TB drive.

Before installing the os I gone with the Intelligent Provisioning diagnostic and the UEFI integrated System tests to be sure that every component was OK.

The IP Diagnostic was reporting a RAM issue so I opened a case with HPE and after an update of IP and bios, the IL reports no errors (this was an issue with older IL version already reported as bulletin), but...

...when I try the UEFI integrated System Test (that test all components in a single run) that crash reporting a page fault with memory dump (simply red characters on black background), but If I test, always with the UEFI diagnostic, every single components (memory, disk, CPU, board) it reports all is OK.

Is there someone with similar issue with the UEFI integrated diagnostic??

ML150 OS INSTALLATION

Hi everyone!

I have here a unit of ML150 Gen9 Server with (2) 500Gb SATA Drives

However I am having a hard time searching for a reliable documentation on how to install the Windows Server 2012 (evaluation), from the very start for this is the first time for me to configure one.

I will be using a Bootable UEFI Flash Drive made based on this link... https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c05088046

I understand that the OS burned inside this Bootable Drive will be automatically loaded once I get in the Intelligent Provisioning, however;

1. Disregarding the update for the drivers (skipping it), Do I have to first configure the RAID Arrays in the HPE Smart Storage Administrator part?

2. Do I have to disable UEFI settings and enable only the LEGACY BIOS Mode?

Because everytime I proceed with the installation in LEGACY/UEFI Mode, the screen always says "the configured partition of 0 mb is less than the minimum size of 49152 MB" 

and then the installation hangs .

I would appreciate also if you can post me here a link or something that has instructions on how I can install windows on this server via Intelligent Provisioning, locally as in a single server being installed with an OS, no PXEs.

HPSSACLI Adding a spare drive

I have just changed existing 128GB SSD drives in a raid 1 configuration with 240GB SSD drives. I am trying to add a spare drive which is identical to the 240GB drives.

When adding the drive with the command:ctrl slot=0 array A add spares=3I:1:3

I get the error:One or more drives could not be added as spares because either they are in a bad state or are too small for the targeted array. Check the status of the drives and make sure that the size of each spare specified is greater than or equal to the smallest physical drive on the array. If any existing spares are in predictive failure, they must be removed before attempting to add new spares.

The output of ctrl slot=0 pd all show status

physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, 240.0 GB): OK
physicaldrive 2I:1:2 (port 2I:box 1:bay 2, 240.0 GB): OK
physicaldrive 3I:1:3 (port 3I:box 1:bay 3, 240.0 GB): OK

I'm stuck here not sure how to remove the error.

Custom SPP Spectre/Meltdown

I am looking to build a custom SPP based on the 2017.10.1 baseline but to include the new ** CRITICAL ** System ROM Flash Binary - HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9/DL360 Gen9 (P89) but a Hot Fix Supplemental Bundle has not been added.  We are using HPE OneView 3.1 so it will only accept SPP's that are built within SUM correctly but then will not boot properly, why I do not know.  So we have reverted back to offical release SPP's or those created with the custom HPE builder.  Is there a way to add a ROM to the online builder or do we simply have to wait for HPE to release a new bundle to the custom site.  Thanks

DL380G7 no port found

Dear HP,

We use a DL380G7, and in the device manager of windows 7 64 pro, there is no port information.

 

We followed HP ProLiant Servers - Serial Port Is Not Working and Serial Devices Are Not Working Properly and did the change accordingly (iLO Serial CLI Status to disabled, BIOS Serial Console Port to Disabled, rebooted several times to verify the change was indeed made), but still cannot find ports.

What should we do to test if anything was wrong? What is the serial port’s corresponding hardware? And do we need to download any driver for that?

I have a server dl380 Gen 9 whose the latest version of update is p70 1/7/2015. I tried to update two versions spp gen 8.1 and spp 0/4/2017 on such a server but after restarting server  came back to the version p70, again. Do you have a suggestion for overcoming this problem ?

Unable to enter BIOS

Hello guys,
I have problem to enter to BIOS on HP server DL360 G7. It is 1U rackmount server and doesn't have PS2 ports. During the boot up phase when invates to press F9=Setup & F11=Boot Menu, my USB keyboard doesn't work until the Windows OS start. How can I get to BIOS? I have same G7 server but 2U version with PS2 ports and it works with ps2 keyboard(usb not). I also reset the CMOS with switch 6 and it doesn't help.
