Matrox G200eH Video Controller Driver for Windows Server 2012 X64

Where can I find the driver for the Matrox G200eH video controller (Windows Server 2012 X64)?

And does this driver also work for Windows Server 2012 R2 X64?

If not, does anybody know when such a driver will be provided?

I found this page, but there is no download link.

And the driver for Windows Server 2008 X64 is not accepted by Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials X64.

CN1100E 10GB Slow Uploads

Been experiencing issue with slow transmits on G7 DL servers using CN1100E 10GB CNA cards.  We are running Win2k8 R2, using the latest drivers and firmware on the cards and the latest SPP on the server.

When copying a file from the server (transmit), the copy job runs at ~60MB/s, but copying to the server (receive) it runs at 200+MB/s.  We have Gen 8 servers with different model cards that work without issue.  Anyone have any ideas or have seen this, we have a ticket open with HP support.

DL380 G5 Enable Port 85 debug

Hello Everyone,

My server (DL380 G5) is unable to display and pass POST : no VGA display and fan spinning at maximum.

I've read a lot of threads on this forum and the troubleshooting guides, tried to boot with minimal RAM and no disk, ...without success.

About the port 84/85/iLo, it starts displaying things on iLo boot (after plugging the power cable). It then stays with led 7 and 8 bliking at different frequencies.
But when I start the server, these two leds shut down and stay black. Does it means it cannot find the error?

Also, in the Troubleshooting Guide, there is this sentence :

IMPORTANT: Be sure the port 84/85 switch is set to display port 85 codes.

What does it means? Is there a switch to flip somewhere? Because I haven't seen anything in the guides I've read.

Any idea?

Alex

Few presales questions about Proliant microserver M54L

$

These are small wonderings, nothing really important. So if you guys have more pressing questions here on the forum, answer those first. I am in no hurry and I will find out answers to these questions in time on my own, too. Consider this post as the lowest priority you have. I'm not a company either, just a home user who likes to play around with computers.

I am building a home network. For lulz. I thought I get one of them HP Proliant microserver G7 M54L 2GB 250GBHDD ones why not. Saw it really cheap so let's do it. The purpose is a file server. Plenty of media via Samba, and xbmc and MySQL to keep track of the media. That's about it. Using WOL to start it, SSH to access it and in some rare occasion VNC. I built a media center from Raspberry Pi in my bedroom and want to access the server from there. So I don't need to turn on the computer in the bedroom. RPi is much more quiet. And I can use it with a remote so no need for keyboard or mouse.

Network is done and RPi too, now just need a server. Well, need and need. I want a server. Need. No, want. No, I must have one. I already configured an old desktop for this, but I'm afraid its motherboard is on its last lap. It's very young, almost brand new... well, 7 year old computer. So I'm gonna let that old thing die with dignity and get a proper server instead. But couple of questions about this server:

1. This is a server, but it has a small processor and lots of desktop hardware. I keep my desktops turned off at night, but wanted to have this in the furthest corner and turned on at all times. This server can do that? As in, Proliant DL and ML series can be on 24/7 as servers should, desktops should be turned off every now and then. Where does this fall into? Can be on all the time, or should be turned off sometimes?

2. It has 1/0/0 warranty, so one year Parts Only. I had Proliant certificates about 10-years ago, when I was working with G1, G2 and the new G3 servers. G3 was just coming. But I'm afraid they have expired since. I have been building computers and networks pretty much my entire life (ok, since the early 90's) and this is now the first computer ever I am not buying as parts, but as pre-built. If something breaks down, even if it is the motherboard or processor, will I get the part under warranty and can change it myself, or is that going to void the warranty if I do it myself? (Hopefully it will not come to that. Not even planning on upgrading the memory, 2GB is enough for a simple file server. Only thing I am going to add on my own is to add an extra HDD for all the media.) I would build a system like this myself, but I found this server so cheap I don't find parts that cheap. So, is it going to cause any issues that I want to exchange any and all parts myself, should a hardware issue arise?

3. Planning on installing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I could only find RedHat drivers from the website. Would need Debian based drivers. Anyone knows if Ubuntu 12.04 LTS works on its own or do I need to search some drivers? I mainly need the network card for the gigabit network. I care not if the video has limitations or anything. Once it's set up I plan not to go anywhere near it physically. Ubuntu probably works out of the box anyways. Just thought I might ask if anyone has any experience already.

4. Are there any remote applications from HP for this particular server? Probably won't need them, but perhaps could check them out if they exist. You know, for science.

5. My location is in Germany, but I don't speak German. Does anyone know if I can get support in English from German support? If the situation in question 2 arises, that is. I doubt I need any support on any other case than if I have already determined it is a hardware issue and need to order a replacement part. And hopefully it will never come to that.

Video accelerator for DL580 G7

Hello, we have a farm of DL580 G7's that we use in our VMWare View environment. I am looking for a video accelerator for this box to improve performance for 3D rendering. I am looking at the NVidia GRID K2 dual GPU but  I am having difficulty finding anything about compatibility with this series of servers. It looks like it is only available for the SL series. Is this true?

If this card is not available what do you suggest I use?

Installing two PCIe cards in DL160 Gen8; shouldn't this work?

Hi,

EDIT: Short story even shorter: is it possible to install a P420 RAID controller to expansion slot 2 on a DL160 Gen8 server if a 530SFP+ is installed in expansion slot 1 and the FlexibleLOM slot is also populated.

Long story short:

Is it possible to install both

  • a 530SFP+ 10G card in the rear 16x PCIe slot (HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 530SFP+ Adapter)
  • and a Smart Array P420 internal RAID adapter in the internal 8x PCIe slot (HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC 6Gb 2-ports Int SAS Controller)

in a DL160 Gen8 without using the FlexibleLOM slot (which is already in other use).

Both cards are/can be low profile and half length (right...) so don't see a reason why not in the Quickspec but if someone actually knows, I'd really appreciate an opinion!

Thanks in advance.

Windows Server 2008 R2 - ML350G4 / DL380G4

Hello,

I am planning to install Windows Server 2008 R2 on:

(1) ML350 G4

(2) DL380 G4

For both models, HP supports only Windows Server x64 (and not R2 version) in its website.

Could you confirm if the R2 version is indeed allowed?

I will need SmartStart v8.30 for the ML and v8.50 for the DL model, right ?

Thank you in advance

Ioannis

ml350e windows server 2012 r2 - p420 - Cant see disks

Having an issue with my ML350e, installed a p420 controller which has picked up all the disks and was able to configure a RAID 5 array within the ACU and 2 disks within a RAID1. I then tried to install server 2012R2 which when prompted with the choose a disk screen find that i cannot see the disks. I think that the driver for the P420 is not being seen within the installer. Have tried flashing BIOS to latest version have also tried the windows 2012 r2 supplementary pack from a memory stick with the "p420 driver". When searching the memory stick and finding the driver we clicked yes and it informs us that "no new device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and click OK". Has anyone seen this need help!!.

NC360T and DL380G4

$

Hi all,

Saturday I thought to add a NC360T to a DL380G4 but I had some difficulties. The slot was much longer than the connector on the NIC, the force needed to insert the NIc into the slot was quite high and I was afraid to bend and break something so I gave up.

Can anybody of you confirm that I can install such NIC in the server?

From this post, found after having tried to insert such card in the server,

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-Netservers/Supported-NIC-cards-for-the-DL380-G4/td-p/702250#.UtVm2vTuLfs

I came up with this document

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/productbulletin.html#spectype=worldwide&type=html&docid=12028

Where the ni NC360T is mentioned

Just to give you an idea, the riser board is the following

http://www.ebay.fr/itm/HP-359248-001-Proliant-DL380-G4-PCI-X-Riser-Card-Plus-Assembly-Cage-/400498947970

Is the NC360T supposed to fin in there?

Otherwise which NIC should I buy?

I need it because one of the sockets doesn't retain the acble's plug any more.

Thanks,

Alex

CentOS 6.5 and dL380 G5 boot problem

$

I am attempting to install Cent OS 6.5 on a dl380 G5, and after installation and reboot, it simply won't load the OS. It hangs at the booting screen where it says "Attempting to boot from CD, Attempting to boot from C:/"

I am theorizing that it is a P400 Disk array issue and that CentOS can't see the drives because of the raid controller, but it can see all logical drives just fine during OS installation, so i'm skeptical.

I have all 8 drives full, and two logical drives (1 for OS, and 1 for storage). This is an older server, that used to run WIN server 2008, though I blew out the RAID and rebuilt it all before I attempted installation of Cent OS.

I have tried to do a "rescue" but after snooping around I didn't see anything that jumped out at me, but I could have overlooked it.

Has anyone ever run into this on a G5 before, and if so, what did you do to overcome it?

Alter temperature warning threshold on Proliant servers (gen 8)

Hi!

Is it possible to change temperature warning threshold on a ProLiant DL360p Gen8? Where? What utility?

I have read in two threads that it is not possible, but they were quite old, and this might have changed...

ILO Virtual Drive and UDF DVD

Hi,

I want to install a Proliant server with a DVDROM through the ILO Virtual Drives.

I 'mount' my ISO image file in the ILO Integrated remote Console (Version 1.2.3.1405).

I'm able to BOOT on this virtual DVD (WinPe is loaded and executed).

But when the system try to access the DVD to install the Windows image, there is an error 'Source not found'.

If I use a console, I can browse the Virtual DVD ... and there is only one README.TXT file containing :

"This disc contains a UDF file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 UDF file system specification".

For sure, if I burn my DVD, there is no issue, it's working.

Seems there is some problem with the ILO Virtual Drive and WinPe.

Can you help me to solve this critical problem ?

Thanks,

P222 Low Profile Backplate

Hi,

I recently took on a DL320e v2 performance.  This comes with a P222 in the 16x 3.0 PCI-Express Slot which is full-height.  I wish to replace this with a PCIe SSD and move the P222 to the 8x Slot (the P222 is 8x).  This slot though is low-profile.

I already have the SAS cable required for the distance.

Where can I get a P222 Low Profile Bracket from?

I am prepared to swap my full-heigh bracket via post if need be.

Thanks,

Al

Hi,

Hardware type: ProLiant DL380 G7

We are using ILO command to reset the boot order of a DL 380 G7 machine to boot it from Network. It gets reset. But when it goes through boot.. Boot order again get reset to default just before the Boot device selection screen and force to boot machine from the Hard Disk.
Exact message on the screen is as below.

"The Standard Boot Order (IPL) has been reset to the system default. Please run the ROM Based Setup Utility to change the default boot order."

(Attached screenshot for reference.)

How we can stop this resetting to default action. Is there any option in BIOS.

HP DL585 Server with Wndows 7

Goodmornig to all.

We're considering to buy different units of HP DL585 Server to build a Render Farm in order to render our 3D Images and Animations faster than ever.

Surfing the web we saw that the best price/power is this kind of solution: HP DL585 Server, with 4 QuadCore (16 cores), equipped with 32GB of RAM.

The only problem we're trying to solve is that 3D software (3DS MAX & VRAY) we usually use are compatible only with Windows 7 or, at least, Windows XP 64bit.

Does anyone know if this to type of OS can be installed on an HP DL585 Server?

Surfing the web we found out this video on you tube:

Thanks in advance to whoever will reply

Which versions of PCI express do the DL360 g5 have? is it 1.0 or 1.1? I am trying to get a PCI express 2.0 Raid Card for an external closure, wondering if it will work.
