VCRM invalid or not reachable from all VCA's

I am having an issue with the Version Control Repository Manager version 7.3. None of my Version Control Agents are able to communicate with it. When attempting to go through the VCA settings to save the new VCRM I get the message "The specified repository, servername.domainname.com, is invalid or not reachable."

 

This seems to have started happening after upgrading HP SIM and VCRM from 7.2 to 7.3 but I can't pinpoint the exact point in time that everything broke. Point is it used to work this way in the past and stopped.

 

HP SIM 7.3 and VCRM 7.3 are installed on the same 2008 R2 server. All the server agents can talk to HP SIM just fine. I am using username/password authentication for the VCA and I have verified the account has admin rights to the VCRM server OS.  I have tried using certificate authentication as well with the same resulting error message about the VCRM being invalid or unreachable.

 

To troubleshoot I even built a brand new server from scratch, installed HP SIM 7.3 and VCRM 7.3 (from scratch), and have the same issue.

 

What can I do to troubleshoot this?

HP Proliant DL380 G5 server Data recovery - died

Hi 

 

I hope you can help, I have a DL380 G5 with three HDD setup on Raid 5. I am unable to bootup the OS as i think there is a motherboard failure. 

 

What is the best way to recovery the data from this server.

 

I have tried to use the HP SmartStart CD but again the server just shutsdown half way.

Can not login with default username and password (from sticker) in iLO4

Hello

Can not login with default username and password (from sticker) in iLO4. Just retype everything from sticker - but system return - Login failed :(

 

same thing happens on second server

both servers - new

 

how to fix it ? If i will change password to Administrator directly from @Integrated lights-out server@ 

Will it solve my issue ?

ILO4 Firmware 1.32 and Windows OS Install Errors

Hopefully this helps save someone some grief out there...

 

We just got a brand new batch of Gen8s running ILO4 (mix of DL385p and BL465c).  All came with ILO4 Firmware 1.32.  When trying to load Windows 2012 R2 on the servers via Virtual Media, we kept getting the following generic "Load Driver" error message during Windows Setup:

 

"A media driver your computer needs is missing.  This could be a DVD, USB or Hard disk driver.  If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now."

 

We tried various things to troubleshoot, including using a new ISO imsage, loading various drivers, and even loading previous version of the OS (Windows 2012 and Windows 2008 R2).  They all exhibited the same behavior. 

 

After checking a few Gen8s we already had installed and up and running, we noticed they were running ILO4 Firmware 1.30.  Rolling back the firmware on the new servers to 1.30 gave us desired behavior and the system worked as expected.  All our systems are now functioning properly.

 

Like I said, hopefully this helps someone out there.  We spent quite a bit of time trying to track it down.

ProLiant DL785 G5 Firmware Update

Hi all,

 

I am an intern at a local Integrated data and telecommunications company and am new to the server side of IT. I know some basic knowledge still being in college, but my knowledge is limited. 

 

My employer has two Hyper-V servers that he is trying to make redundant and to distribute the load across each server. However, he needs to update the firmware on them so he has me testing the Smart Update Firmware update for an HP Proliant DL785 G5 with the AMD Opteron 2.3GHZ Quad CPU, running a fresh install of Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise x64. 

 

However, when I put the disc in and get into the initial setup, the disc will take me through the automatic update and then say it's booting, boots off the DVD, gets to the second loading screen, and then gives me the following:

 

Warning!!! Unable to mount the file system

Dropping to a shell.  Good luck!

/bin/ash: can't access tty:  job control turned off

 

What is this error and what does it mean? I have read some other posts stating that the disc might be corrupt, but I have reburned the image on more than one disc and both failed, along with putting this image on a USB and attempting to boot from it and it still fails. Also, I have read that it's possible that the disc doesn't recognize some of the hardware in the machine. 

 

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Problem with hard disk

I have Hp proliant DL380 G5, I found one of the hard disks with red light, then it turned off. The problem that now the (D:) does not appear anymore, with all my data in it. I turned off the server and switched the bad one with one of the goods. It also didn't worked. Then i switched again the two disks without shutting the server down, and then I lost the second disk!! I don't know what to do and I want to know if my disks are damaged or not, and especially if I can recuperate data in it. Thanks in advance.

Update drive firmware outside Proliant?

I've adopted a retired, HP-branded 3.5" SAS Drive (DF300A4950, Hitachi made) for desktop use. I know this is a long shot, but... is there a way to update the drive's firmware from its present revision (HPD3) to current (HPD7) outside of a ProLiant environment?

 

I've already tried Micro-Magic's SCSI Mechanic without success. No damage, it just didn't work.

ILO access - ML110, SBS2011, dual nics

I'm trying to get access to the iLO port on a server (remotely) but can't get access to it unless I enable the adapter within Windows.

 

I don't want to enable this as the other nic is already set up to be used for the SBS server and I don't want the server to have 2 nics enabled in a single nic config (without isa) for obvious reasons.

 

Anyone know how to configure iLO so that I can use the iLO as a dedicated NIC for iLO access only but not have it enabled in Windows? 

 

The only way I can get access to iLO is if I set it as a shared port and then enable it within Windows.

Hp proliant G5 disk don't work

Hello,

I have a server HP Proliant DL380 G5. One of disks start showing a red light, then it didn't work any more. Automatically, the "D:" does not appear anymore. I tried to switch it with other disks, so I shut down the server and switched it. The bad disk still didn't work . Then I moved switched back the two disks into their original places but without shutting down the server, and then I lost the second disk two. However, when I move the disks and insert them again, it shows a quick flash with green. I want to know if anyone have an idea about the problem, what that these lights means, red and flash green, and if my disks are corrupted or not and if I can backup data on those disks.

Entry Level Server question for a class I'm part of

Have a ML310e that has Win08 R2 installed on a single drive (NOT in the LFF cage - NOT in an array - but plugged into the spare sata connector on the board.  Orignally we had the embeded smart array controller was disabled.  Now that our drives and trays are in we enabled the smart array controller again but my question is - with that enabled does the OS "HAVE" to boot from the smart array?  I know ideally it should - but we're going through a number of possible scenarios for differnt build types.  Thanks - SS

Hi all,

I need to team 2 NICs in a HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8 . The old network utility isn't available and I can find nothing that stands out in the available software downloads. Has anyone got any information on this. Operating system is Windows 2008 Server R2 [X64].

I need a GPU for an DL380p Gen8 Server running Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V to support RemoteFX.

 

there is an Windows Server 2012 VM running as Terminal-Server for our Sales team to show Demos with advanced Graphics...

Also there are Windows8 and Windows7 VMs ...

 

So wich GPUs are supported for this scenario, I could not find much informations till now...

Hello,

Our company is planning to buy 2 sets of HP proliant DL 580 G5 server and 2 sets of MSA60 storage. Our plan is to use it as an exchange server(both) and to consilidate two box with the MSA 60.

Questions:
1. Will it be possible to do the hardware consolidation in both servers with the MSA 60 attached to the server(for redundancy)?
2. If it's possible, how?

Stop: 0x000007b When Migrating from DL360G4 to G5

Hi, I hope someone can help me.

My customer has several DL360G4p's that they are wishing to migrate to DL360G5's when ever I attempt a migration im left with a BSOD on boot, the full stop error is.

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF741B84C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

This error is an inacessible boot device probably due to the different RAID controllers.

The process I followed for the migration was to use NTbackup to backup the following directories.

c:\windows\*.*
C:\program files\*.*
c:\Documents and settings\**

System State.

A little trick i use to migrate between hardware platforms using different raid controllers is to rename the target raid driver sys file to that of the source server. In this case, I renamed the driver for the G5 (HPCISSS2.SYS) to the driver used by the source (CPQCISSM.SYS). This process has always worked in the past but between these platforms this process also fails.

I have also attempted to migrate using Acronis Universal restore, this software alows you to load drivers for the target server during the restore but this also fails.

Any assistance you could offer would be great.

Hi,

I have a DL380 G5 with a single 2.4Ghz CPU. Now I want to add a other CPU. Is it possible to add a second, faster CPU 3Ghz?

First CPU 2.4 Ghz, Second 3.0Ghz, I do have the second cpu power regulator board.

DL360 G4 and MSA60

We have an DL360 G4 running Windows 2008 R2 and would like to attach a used MSA60 to it.  I've been told by one tech that the MSA60 will not work on the G4 and by another that it will.

 

Can anyone confirm for me if it will work or not and tell me which controller I can use to make the connection?  I'm told that the P600 would normally be used to attach an external SAS device to the G4 but that it won't work with the MSA60.  So, I'm hoping for a definitive answer from some HP gurus!  Thanks!

GOST Certificate of conformity POSS US.ME06.B07958 was issued on the base of NEMKO AS Certificate NO46447.

GOST Certificate of conformity POSS US.ME06.B07958 is describing the HP Proliant Server DL 120 Series.

 

My questions:

 

[1] Original NEMKO AS Certificate NO46447 issued date: 02/19/2008

 

Why HP GOST Certificate declares that NEMKO AS Certificate NO46447 issued date is 01/24/2008?

 

 

[2] GOST Certificate of conformity POSS US.ME06.B07958 describes HP Proliant Server DL 120 Series .

Original NEMKO AS Certificate NO46447 describes HP Server “HSTNS-3170”

 

Is it factual, that HP Proliant Server DL 120 Series are equal to single HP Server “HSTNS-3170”?

Compaq ml570 how to enter bios?

Probably a dumb question, but I cannot figure out how to enter the bios of this severs.

When the machine posts I would expect it to display hit f12 or hit the delete key etc.. to enter the bios. What am I missing? I’ve tried the smart start cd but did not see an option to edit the bios.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HP DL380 Gen8 RAM configuration advice

Hi at all. A simple question.

I'm in the process of buying a esxi cluster made of two identical hosts. There are two resellers in competition. The configuration is identical in both quotations except for RAM configuration, same capacity (32GB each host). Each host has two CPUs and 24 DIMM sockets in total.

First reseller put in the quotation servers completely empty and all the stuff that I needed. So he quoted RAM DIMMS of 8GB each.

Second reseller quoted two hosts already with a ready-to-go configuration. Each host has already 16GB of RAM installed made of 4GB DIMM modules each. The rest of DIMMs are 8GB modules.

Now, I've read HP stuff that recommends to install dimms across RAM channels in a balanced manner. Reseller #2 obviously says that there is no problem by installing its configuration. Reseller #1 says that they never suggest RAM configuration like that one.

What would you choice basing on you experience?
