ILO Session timeout not working since uplifting to 2.50

Since uplifting DL380P Gen8 ILO 4 from 2.30 to 2.50 August 2016. The user session does not expire after 15 minutes whilst using the web interface. But, the remote console session does expire.

I have left this logged in all day on multiple servers and the sessions just do not expire. If I perform this on a ILO 4 at 2.30 then both session do expire before being uplifted.

Is there a reason for this? or a fix?

Thank you in advance

Helo,

I am new here and my english is not too good so sorry for it. And I am not an expert so sorry for my stupid questions too.

I have a dl380p gen8 server and it is running for 4 mounths without any problems but yesturday the fans started run on max speed. I didn't do anything with it, i mean i didn't install any other hard drives or pci card or anything so i don't know the reason for the fan problem.

I made a lot of diagnostic and test (with ilo and Intelligent Provisoning) but all of the results are ok. I have no idea what cause the max fan speed so can somebody help me or do somebody has an idea howe to solve it?

Smart Array P420i conficts with iLO4

Hi:

I have a ProLiant DL360p Gen8 server comes with Smart Array P420i (without cache). I need to install 4 sata hard disks as JBOD to it recently. unfortunately I found the card can only create two raid0 disk(seems limited by card cache), so I change the card to HBA mode with Offline HP Smart Storage Administrator.

then I install RHEL 7.4 to these disks and notice the disk write speed is very slow, about 5-8 MB sequential write . I changed many parameters but nothing useful. then I reset iLO4 and found the disk speed suddenly back to normal (about 50-80 MB sqeuential write). the normal speed would remain 5-10 mintutes. then it will slow down again.

sometimes I reboot the server will also get the normal speed.  but no more than 10 mintutes it will slow down again.

by checking the bios I understaned that iLO4 and Smart Array P420i are sharing the same IRQ. I don't know what goes wrong when using P420i at HBA mode. disable iLO4 may cure the problem, but the server is at remote branch so I need iLO4 if something wrong happened.

I have tried several firmware and drivers with parameters. nothing useful:

Bios: firmware 2012, 07/01/2015, 01/22/2018

iLO4: firmware version tried 1.51,  2.30, 2.50, 2.55

P420i: firmware version tried 8.00, 8.32

hpsa (the driver): tried rhel 7.4 native version and latest hp version. tried hpsa paramter "hpsa_simple_mode" and "reply_queues".

also tried to blacklist iLO related linux modules:  hpilo, hpwdt

thanks a lot for help! hope there is a way to make the disk to  run at normal speed.

what happened to hp-health in mcp repo

Hi,

I have noticed that the newest MCP (Mgmt Component Pack) for ProLiant servers running CentOS is lacking some familiar codes that we've been using for some time - most notably hp-health.  I also see that some codes appeared to be renamed and/or changed.

I am also interested in hpwdt and hpdiags as well - are those that still available under a different code or are they part of the server HW now ?

Is there anything like a whitepaper describing these changes  ?

Thx

Proliant DL380 G7 extended drive cage options

Hi All,

I need to expand my storage, I already have the Drive Cage Kit 496074-001/507690-001 ready to replace the optical drive with.

I'm not sure if the existing HP Smart Array p410i can support the additional SAS drives (I suspect that it can't, from what I understand each internal port sup[poirts 4 sas drives).

Am I able to install another Smart Array p410 controller and at the same time use the existing p410i or do I need to disable the p410i and use 468406-B21?

Kind Regards

Hello,

I have a Proliant DL380 with the last SPP installed being 2017.07.02.  I need to install the latest SPP to this server.  I have found "Service Pack for Proliant (SPP) Version 2018.03.0" which states that it has been tested on Gen9 and Gen10 servers.  The page also has a link to "Service Pack for Proliant (SPP) Version Gen8.1".

I'm a bit confused which I should be installing.  I think it should be the latter but could someone confirm please?

Hope this makes some sort of sense!!

Many thanks

Stuart

HP ML310eGen8 noisy fan on the optimal cooling setting

$

Hi there,

we have a HP ML310eGen8 E3-1220v2 NHP GR Svr/TV Server with the SN: CZ130600G0 here. The Server is set to the lowest cooling option optimal cooling. The fan 2 in the front periodically speeds up to 100% and down again, which is very noisy. This happens almost every minute. I read that this noise problem is old and common known, which can appear on some machines of this type. A solution could be, I read that here, could be to update the BIOS and/ or the  storage controller firmware.

Where can I find a guide on how to do that? Where can I see the bios and the storage controllers firmware version? If possible without a reboot?  Also I'm not sure if this server has a storage controller. I'm not sure but I think the server has 4 HDDs installed. If possible I would like to reduce reboots to a minimum.

HP ProLiant DL360 Gen10 with SLES11 SP4 : hp-health fail to start: check_ilo2: BMC Returned Error

Hi All, Dear Community,

I rarely use forums, but finally I hit the problem I cannot find solution to, and after spending a few days with troubleshooting I thought to ask for help here. Hopefully someone went through a similar issue and will be able to share the knowledge.

After successful installation of SLES11 SP4 on HP DL360 Gen10, I was trying to install hp-health and hp-snmp-agents. Unfortunately hp-health service hangs up indefinitely during the startup.

The errors in /var/log/messages

hpasmlited[10046]: check_ilo2: BMC Returned Error: ccode 0x0, Req. Len: 15, Resp. Len: 21
hpasmlited[10046]: The Integrated Lights-Out Management Processor is not responding!

System details:
HP ProLiant DL360 Gen10
OS: SLES11 SP4
Kernel: 3.0.101-107-default
Kernel modules:
lsmod | grep hp
hpwdt 14212 0
hpilo 17496 0
ILO5: version 1.20 (also tested with 1.15 with same result)
HP packages:
hp-health-10.70-1846.3.sles11
hp-snmp-agents-10.70-2962.5.sles11
(also tested with older versions with the same result)

The ILO5 looks healthy and is responsive. I just cannot access it from OS side. What else should I check? IPMI libraries are there:

/lib/modules/3.0.101-107-default/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/

Has anyone came across same problem?

I would appreciate some hints, hence currently it is not possible to monitor the server with HPE OIDs.

Many thanks,
Greg
