Raid Controller Issue - P212
HI,
Having HP ML 110 G6 server, issue with a raid controller card P212 with 4 HDD's all it was working fine and suddenly stopped initilizing in the startup and stopped booting and the card chip is getting too much heat please suggest me what would be the cause. Earlier during the boot all the Leds were blinking green colour now only one orange light glows.
whether the hard disk connected to the raid controller can it be connected to onboard sata connectors will it work?
My view is that raid controller card is faulty, checked connecting to other working system and there in the device manager card is shown
Not authenticated
Hello,
I have installed SSD Kingston on DL360 G9.
This drive is not authenticated, i can understand...
I would like that the led amber on front of the server don't blink ...
Is it possible to disable this alarm?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Issues configuring array with Smart Array P840 Controller
Hello,
I am trying to configure a RAID 1 in a DL380 Gen 9 with a Smart Array P840 Controller but I am facing some issues. I hope anyone can help me. Here more details about my server:
[see dl380_1.png with device inventory]
[see dl380_2.png with firmware versions]
As you can see, I have all firmwares/ROM/iLO up to date. I used Service Pack for ProLiant 2018.03.0 for that before writing here. I don't think is a hardware problem since I can see/use HDDs from any OS and I have the same issue in 3 different servers.
When I go to HPE Smart Storage Administrator to configure the P840 controller, 0 physical drives are shown. I get a warning that says:
Warning 267: There are no configurable physical drives attached to the current controller. If this controller is being used as a host controller for tape devices only, please disregard this warning. If this controller is being used as a host controller for an external controller, the physical drives attached to the external controller will only be visible selecting the external controller. If the controller is not being used as a host controller, one of the gollowing could cause the problem: There are no supported drives attached to the controller. A data cable has a bad connection. Two or more drives have duplicate SCSI IDs. Power to the external drives is off. The OS controller driver is missing.
If I enable the HP Dynamic Smart Array RAID support in SATA options in the BIOS, I see the physical devices as unassigned drives in this controller in the HPE SSA, but I do want to use the P840 controller instead of the embedded controller.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Iyan
PCI planar boot issue
In process of fixing RAID issue, I ended enabling PCI planar from BIOS. Now server returns CPU (light is on) error on light path diagnostics. I have no display. Server turns on and gets off after few seconds.
Is there any way to turn on by resetting BIOS setting or any other ways?
SSD hard drivers are not detected by RAID Controller.
Hi. I have a Proliant ML350eGEN8. I bought two SSD drivers (Intel S4500 240 GB). The drives are not recognized (RAID controller or operating system). What can I do for further troubleshot? Are there any known issues with ssd/sata drives with this server ? Thank you.

Also hp-health service won't start because of that so hpasmcli command is also not working.
Is there a way to resolve this problem.
DL 380 Gen 10 unable to see drives during OS installation
Will a P840 controller work in DL360 Gen9 Slot 3?
I have a DL360 with a P840 controller in slot 1 controlling 4 SAS drives. I want to add the:
"4-SAS x 6-NVMe enablement kit"
which comes with a bridge card that must go in slot 1.
Will the P840 controller work in slot 3?
Will I need a full-height option kit for slot 3?
Will the SAS cable that comes with the above-mentioned enablement kit reach to the P840 in slot 3?
thanks!

DL380 Gen9 - Do they have weak mainboard soldering?
We had two DL380 Gen9 with a mainboard power failure. Red LED on the front panel was on and IML log told me about the error. Server could be turned on but shut itself off after a couple of seconds.
We investigated the mainboards closer and we found that some solder joints on the DC-converter components, right behind the fans, looked a bit strange.
It seemed that the inductors (see attached picture) were partially broken off.
So I took the soldering iron and re-soldered all those inductors..... and guess what, both boards are working again without any problem.
My problem analysis is as follows. The relatively heavy parts are located directly behind the fans where mechanical vibrations are strongest. They are not secured by glue or silicon elastic compound and are held in place only by their solder joints. In my eyes this is a time bomb that must break sooner or later.
I wonder if others experienced a high number of power failures on those Gen9 servers? DL360 have the same boards.....
Different Server BIOS
I'm updating all of my servers to SPP2018.03.0. In the meantime, I've found a DL360p Gen 8 server that uses a P71 BIOS. I go to the DL360p Gen 8 page to get the updates and all the BIOS there is P70. Does anyone know where I can find the P71 BIOS? I've looked just about everywhere I can think of.
Ok, now how what do I do to update ESXi hosts.
I have been mounting the SPP ISO to my virtual machine and running "launch_sum" batch file. I add nodes/hosts I need to update and push them out and reboot the hosts and done. Now with the latest SPP, on iLO 5 Gen 10 servers I get -
"Warning: Intergrated Smart Update was not running on the OS. If components are selceted to install via an iLO install set that require installation in the OS then they will not run unless iSUT or Smart Update Manager are run."
What do I need to do, what changed? Is HP going to make me reboot each ESXi host off the ISO in order to update, since we have not purchased OneView.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Javier

Will the new DS drives work in Gen8 servers?
As far as I understand they are not testet in Gen8 servers, but do they work in real life?
Of course the DS part won't work.

HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 - Restart Issue
Hi,
Restarted a HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server and getting stuck now on the POST screen...
Checked hardware connection, server rebooted multiple time and still getting stuck on the same screen.
All LED are green and iLO diagnosis doesn't show any warning signs. there was once a failed storage disk message that disappeared when I rebooted the server...
Any help will be appriciated !
Drivers for B120i for RHEL 7.5
Hello.
I don't think the driver for the B120i controller has been released for the new RHEL 7.5 ? This prevents me from upgrading from 7.4 to 7.5
It took very long to get a driver for 7.4: https://community.hpe.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-ML-DL-SL/Drivers-for-B120i-for-RHEL-7-4/td-p/6972868

Status code 5008 Microproliant Gen8
Hello,
I have a Microproliant Gen8 that at boot time it remains at 70% Progress and shows status code 5008.
I can access via iLO, but can't perform any update.
I've tried removing memory, resetting NVRAM via switch 6, power off, etc. with no results. BTW, the server, when I disconnect the power, and connect it again, it boots up without pressing the power button. I think that for this reason the NVRAM is not cleared correctly. The same happens if I power off the button.
Does anybody what else could I do to revive it?
Regards,
Alex.
EMail Alerts On DL360 G9 For SAS Controller
Hi,
Hope you can help.
I am looking for a way to enable some form of email alert for our raid array in the event of a drive failure.
The server is running Windows 2016 STD Server and I have installed the latest SPP.
I thought it would be an option in the ILO4 setup web page but it says SMTP Email is not licensed.
Is there a way to enable some form of email alert without having to purchase a ILO4 Licencse.
Many thanks for your time.
Kind Regards
Riser Card for DL60 Gen9
Hello everybody,
I bought an HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 366T Adapter p/n 811546-B21 as a network expansion for a DL60 Gen9.
Unfortunately the Primary PCIe riser board connector was alreay used for a Smart Array controller, so I need to buy a riser board to be installed in the Secondary PCIe riser slot and then insert the Ethernet adapted in this board.
I would like to know the correct p/n of a riser board that could fit.
Thanks in advance,
Francesco

HP P420 and FBWC modules
Hi,
I purchased a PH Smart Array P420 Controller with a 512mb FBWC module but i'm having a few problems with it. Firstly if i boot with the FBWC module i get the p420 post screen that says initializing, it sits there for ages then just goes to a black screen.
I found that if i remove the module it boots ok into windows. when i use the HP Array configuration utility it says that the p420 has been disabled because the cache module is not installed.
So firstly is the FBWC required or is there a way to run without it? secondly i found this site that seems to list thet FBWC parts
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03226233
It looks like the 512MB module i was sent only works with the P222 controller. Is this correct? Is the issue because i need at least the 1Gb FBWC module?
