I spent 3 days just to make bootable iso to be able to upgrade ilo firmware remotely via kvm. Someone please but please show me correct way.
I am not an expert on bootable file. All I need to make an iso and upgrade ilo remotely via KVM (Not the virtual media within ilo itself. With an external kvm)
I have new Proliant DL360p Gen8 hardware that I wish to deploy as a VM 5.01 host.
We have just been thru a memory upgrade in our blade chassis and have 4 GB 2Rx4 PC3-1600R09-10-E1-P1 RAM spare from this project. The RAM supplied with the server is 4 GB 1Rx4 PC3L-1600R-09-11-C2-P2.
Q1. Is it possible to run this left over RAM in this server to boost available memory for the vital host duties this hardware will run?
Q2. Is it acceptable to mix the 2 different RAM modules or should I replace the current RAM with the earlier version if possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I have two DL140 and I recently upgraded their lo firmware. But one of them does accept the license but does not turn virtual kvm on. Do you have any idea?
I wish to remove the iLO 4 Advance license from my MicroSever Gen8. How can I do it?
Thank you
Hello all, I have been scouring the internet for weeks and have found many posts, but no solutions for the aweful 100% fan speed noise on my DL380 G4. I am pulling my hair out trying to find a way to slow this rocket ship down!
Motherboard - 359251-001 (single core CPU's only)
OS - Server 2008 R2 (set up as a domain controller and DFS file share server)
Memory - Maxed out at 12GB (all slots populated)
CPU - Currently 3.4Ghz Xeon (2x 3.8Ghz Xeons in rout along with a second VRM)
Does anyone have a solution to this once and for all?
Things I have tried :
(All temps reporting very low)
Bios updated - P51 (2007 date)
Updated all management drivers & Software
All 8 fans are populated and green lit - there is no change in fan speed when removing any or all of the redundant fans.
Thoughts :
This machine only has one PSU installed. Could this cause the fans to run at 100%? It appears to only have been sold with one PSU. If anyone can help I would owe you lots of beers.
I got myself a ProLiant ML350 server equipped with an embedded 200i raid controller but I'm pretty disappointed with the onboard SAS/SATA controller's performance.
Since I don't plan to use RAID (it's just a home server sitting in the attic) i connected a single SSD drive (120GB Adata S511) to use it for the operating system but i'm getting horrible speeds in HDTune.
The cache battery is empty so it has no write back cache enabled but would it cause such a major problem? The normal speed of my SSD is around 275MB/s on a normal SATAII controller.
Thank you in advance!
By the way: is there any workaround to enable wb cache even if the battery isn't good anymore? Can I use my SSD drive without the E200i making it a "HP Logic Array"?
Do you have any idea;

Hello,
My ML350 G5,smart Array E200i is configured using a Raid 5 with a hot spare, 4 drives total.
All 4 drives are HP 10K, SAS, 72 Gig. I have a Replacement drive which has a faster speed: HP drive 15K, SAS, 72 Gig.
Will the replacement drive with a faster speed be fine to use without any long term issues? I'm assuming the new 15K drive will pass data through at the speed of 10K. I'm using the on board smart array E200i array.
Thank you for your time!
I have this server running Server 2008 x64 and installed VMWare 10, but when I try to spin up a 64-bit OS in VMWare, it says it cannot do it and the system would need to be in long mode. The Intel Chipset is an E7520 which supposedly is capable of this feature, but I'm not sure how to do this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If it is a real temp. issue. System would not be able to run for couple days, but it halts down dues to high temp. issue.
System log is attached. One fan is missing. But it has been runing so for more than year. I also upgraded all firmwares but still same. Do you suggest playing configs in bios? Only if I unplug power cord it can run for couple of days.
Added a 2nd processor to an ML350 G2 1266mhz.
On boot up the server gave an error saying that we did not have a backup second power pack. I stopped boot up just in case it caused further problems.
Does anyone know whether this error was just for information or whether we do need to purchase a backup power pack?
Thanks for any help offered.
Julie

Hi all,
We have a Proliant DL380 G7 and we use it as a standalone ESXi host.
We have RAID 1+0 setup with 6 x 300Gb drives. The ESXi OS runs on a USB or SD card, so the logical drive is purely used as a VMware datastore.
We recently noticed we had 2 drives showing an orange LED. So wanting to check the RAID config as we didnt think 2 drives could fail. VMware only shows the capacity as 558Gb of usable space, so we are not sure if this volume was properly configured in the first place.
I have attched an image of the RAID config screen. The confusing thing is that the status of all the physical drives is 'OK'. It also states that the logica drive 'needs recovery'.
I have rebooted the server, and skipped the recovery, and the server booted fine, and the datastore is still as it should be. My only worry is that if I run the recovery, it might corrupt the datastore.
Should I replace the drives with an orange LED whilst the server is powered on, even though they are apparently OK??
Am I safe to run the recovery on next boot?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Why I can use SAS2 15k disks with P222 controller on 320 v1, 360, 380 servers, but can`t use them on 320v2 servers?

I am behing a nat using internal ip. (Not sure if it is firewall or port forwarding issue)
When virtual media is active, I am getting;
com.serverengines.rdr.BadlOException: java.net S ocketException: Connection reset
error and next 10 sec. console window is not avaliable. Do you have any idea ? I forwarded these ports to my internal ip;
