HP Smart Array P840 disk Non authenticated after replace disk

Hello,

I have a problem with my HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server. After update firmware P840 one

Warning: Device carrier authentication failed. This is not an authentic HPE carrier. I/O operations to the device will not be affected, but the Smart Array controller will not control the LEDs to this device. 

Option ROM POST Information: 1709-Slot 0 Drive Array - One or more drives could not be authenticated as genuine drives. Smart Array will not control the LEDs to these drives.

 

I tried to replace disk slots, downgrade firmware but problem still exists. Problem exist since I removed these disk from slot and move it again.

Server has SAS Expander, and Smart Array Controller P840

Proliant embedded 4-port NIC: redundancy best practice

Hello all,

I'm in search of expert advice regarding the usage of the port in the DL series embedded 4-Port NIC when bonding is used.
I would like to know if the 4 port are serviced by on single chip, 2 chips or 4 chips.

I case the ports are services by 2 chips then the question would be how these are groupped.

I'm trying to maximize the redundancy configuration by making sure I use separate chips for each of the bonding slaves.

iLO Amplifier Pack, why is VMWare Tools not installed?

I just downloaded, installed, and configured iLO Amplifier Pack version 1.30 which is the newest. We want to use the Amplifer Pack to add our HPE servers into Infosight. This downloads as an OVA file that can be pulled into ESXi. I pulled it into ESXi 6.7 Update 1 and when completed it said that this VM did not have VMWare Tools installed.

VMWare's best practice is to have VMWare Tools installed on all VMs. I have loaded quite a few pre-made VMs into VMWare via OVA files. Typically the makers of the appliance (OVA) file install VMWare Tools before packaging up the VM. It appears there is no way for the end user to install VMWare Tools because you cannot get to the unix/linux command line for this product. Why doen't HPE have VMWare Tools already installed?

ML350 G6 Server 2012 R2

Hello,

I have installed Win 2012 R2 server on ML350 G6 and the supported HP service pack. Everyting loaded fine and the server runs great. However, when I try to install windows updates they run forever and never finish. Basically the server is checking for updates but no updates are nevr presented to me. Even if I try to install updates (KBs) manually I see it "spinning", checking for installed updates but it also never finishes. I reinstalled the system clean twice but same rersult. Any thoughts what this could be?

PCI riser for a G8 DL360?

PCI... it's ancient, not PCI-E.

Well Ideally I'd love a 16x PCI-E on one side of the riser and an old school PCI slot on the other.

Does this or anything like it even exist?

Proliant DL20 gen9 4 sff Hot Plug bays with non Hot Plug?

We have a brand new "HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 Server". It came with 4 sff hot-plug bays but none HDs. And the user guide doesn't say we can plug any non-hot-plug HD. Is it possible?
In case it is not possible, what HP products can be pluged in this unit?

Proliant DL380 G9 remote video issue

Hi All.

I have a basket case DL380 G9 that seems to like shutting down and locking up the video on remote console sessions that sit idle for 8-12 hours. Console is displaying video resolution in the bottom left hand corner as usual, however, OS splash screen is gone and users cannot bring it back. Space bar, enter key, ANY key, nothing. This has been ongoing for the past week, and I am out of options. System board and 2 of 2 SAN cards have been replaced, firmware updated and down graded (2.61 to 2.55), and a clean install of Server 2012 r2 has been performed. Is it another bad board?

HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 HPE Smart Array Cache Module Status - Failed

Even after replacing with NEW Cache Module, after 1-2 weeks i am still getting HPE Smart Array Cache Module Status - Failed. 

i have replaced with a original HP cache module but still showing the message.

ProLiant DL360p Gen8 Blue screen after patching windows

Hi,

i faced Blue screen DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION many time to our "ProLiant DL360p Gen8" server after patching the last Windows Server 2016 and the BIOS firmware to ( System ROM P71 05/21/2018), since then it doesn't function normally.

the server doesn't function normally after that, and it effects our cluster. Any advice?

How to install a ubuntu server 16 on hpe proliant dl360 gen10 with intteligent provisioning

When i try to install  ISO ubuntu server (ubuntu-16.04.5-server-amd64.iso) from inteligent provisioning, the server does nothing. I try to install too from CDROM install software with no results.

Migrate band size RAID 5

Hello, good afternoon.

I wanted to ask you what could be the best optimization and efficiency for an 8×6 TB RAID5 array.

Currently I have this band size, and now I'm going to dedicate this RAID to download through P2P, so it will have an intense work of reading, but less than 80/20 writing.

I've been looking, and there are people who say to lower the band size to KiB, but I would like to know your opinion in order to optimize the RAID as much as possible.

HP DL360 Receiving SNMP events from slave servers

I have a group of servers and I am trying to forward SNMP events from these "slave" servers to my HPE DL360. This is my first time doing this and I have done some research but need a few leads. I imagine there is a way I can login to the iLO and view SNMP events when they occur from the group of slave servers. How do I configure my HP DL360 via iLO to accept these SNMP events?

HP IP Console Switch G2 - unable to access it via ssh

Hello,

I have a HP IP console switch G2 with 16 console ports.

We had an incident and we had to reboot the HP console switch and I think its routing details got resetted.

I cannot ping it from an IP in a different subnet.

I have configured on the console 10.0.50.5/24. I can ping it from 10.0.50.7 but not from 10.0.53.5 for example.

I'm trying to connect through ssh to it using user&pass that we were using for https access and they are not working. The console switch is in a remote location so I cannot access is physically to make modification on it through console port.

If there's an easy option to repair this I could involve our 3pp who hosts our devices there.

What would be the easiest way to fix this?

Unable to access iLO 5 GUI

Hello,

I have two brand new DL380 Gen10 servers which I powered on for the first time today.  Unfortunately with both boxes, I was unable to access iLO via any web browser.  Firefox, Chrome and IE all report various security errors, which seemed to be related to SSL and mismatched cipher.

In IE I turned off TLS but was still not able to access.

I was able to access iLo via telnet and confirmed it is iLo 5 v1.3 (31 May 2018).

I ensured my anti-virus was off, firewall was off and anything else that I felt could be intereferring.  I have stripped all security from IE but I still cannot access the web interface on any browser.

This is the first time I have encountered this problem.  I have been using iLO 4 for several years on other servers and while I get the certificate error, I am able to ignore this and login.  Now with iLO 5 I am totally stumped.  I have logged a call with HP, but they have not been particularly helpful.  They suggest upgrade the firmware but have not been clear how this is achieved via CLI and I am not convinced it will resolve the problem.

Anyone any ideas??

Periodically an error occurs and the operating system does not boot. What could be the reason?

Periodically, it works and works fairly stable.

The first two messages in the screenshot are informational and occur constantly.

Always a mistake on this disk. Initially, RAID 10 was set up of 4 such disks. But it was programmatically disabled for disk operation separately.

PCI Riser in HPE Dl60 Gen9

HI,


We have installed a PCI Riser kit into an HPE Proliant DL60 Gen9 server with 2 processors. The system does not  see the riser card, or the HBA installed into the riser slot form the BIOS. Can anyone advise if there is something that needs to be enabled, or set up? Any tips on how to diagnose the issue would be appreciated.

How to upgrade iLO- and Server-Firmware for HP ML350 Gen9?

Hi there!

I need to upgrade the iLO- and Server-Firmware on my ML350 Gen9 Server. Now i saw that there is an option in the iLO GUI (Web app on another client in the network):


...the current version of the iLO firmware is v2.30, Aug 19 2015.

1. Where can i get the firmware files? (-> There is no warranty anymore!!)

2. Is there another way to upgrade the firmware? (Boot CD/DVD or application for Linux/Windows or something like that?)
