AHS isnt working on Windows Server 2016 for ML350 Gen9

Hi All,

Ran into an issue trying to use AHS log for Windows 2016.  We have an ML350 Gen9 with iLO4, and am attempting to run the AHS locally.  I have the latest controller driver and channel interface driver installed for Win2016.  Also extracted the CLI and inside that folder ran the exe (or was it msi) file, and now we see the AHSdownload with the arrow. 

However when running the AHS download, nothing happens.  There is no log file that's generated.  When i right click and run as Admin, i get the error WARN: Bad Date Format: 001399, Error: command failed.

Any ideas on what could possibly be causing this?  Thank you.

Hi, is there any way to configure the inbuilt array on a HP DL380 G9 as standalone drives?

Reason is I am trying to do some data recovery from the faiiled array, all software I have found requires this.

ProLiant ML350 G9 with excessive fan noise during normal server operation

I have a ProLiant ML350 Gen9 which the fans come on regularly making a lot of noise. There are no failed fans (four fans installed) and the temperature is below the threshold levels.

There are two Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2609 v3 @ 1.90GHz installed

The Firmware versions are as follows:
HP Smart Array P440ar Controller    7.00
System ROM P92 v1.40 (05/06/2015)
Redundant System ROM P92 v1.40 (05/06/2015)
Power Management Controller Firmware    1.0.9
Power Management Controller FW Bootloader    1.0
System Programmable Logic Device Version 0x13
SAS Programmable Logic Device Version 0x3
Server Platform Services (SPS) Firmware 3.0.6.267.1
iLO 2.70 5/07/2019

The server started making the noise in August and I have attempted to track down the cause both on the server and online in your forums without much success thus far.

Trying to install Kingston SSD Drive on Proliant DL360p Gen 8 with no avail

Hi All

I wonder if you can help

I am tryingn to make a Kingston SSD as boot drive for a Proliant DL360p Gen 8

However the disk is not being phisycally detected and I cannot find a way on how to enable it

Any suggestion would be great

Smart Array B140i vs P440 performances on RAID5 of HDD (not SSD)

Hello,

I have ML150 Gen9 with integrated Smart Array b140i Software RAID Controller, with 5 x 1TB SATA HP Disks in a RAID5 array. Server is running ESXi 6.7.

R/W performances are poor, especially W on small files (tested from several virtual machines on several OS, and from CentOS installed on external disk running out of ESXi). It is clearly the bottleneck with several VMs running databases and "heavy" apps.

After reading several topics on this forum, I'm close to move to a P440 controller, but:

- Most topics are from users having SSDs, in this case gain is obvious. I'm having HDDs.

- When I bought the server, my reseller told that I didn't really need a P440, B140i would be enough.

I'm then confused on the gain I could expect with a P440 controller.

Some figures from VMs:

- W rate on large file is about 20-30MB/s when stabilized

- W rate on small files is below 1MB/s

- R rate on large file is about 100 MB/s when stabilized

- R rate on small files is below 10MB/s

Would you recommend to move to P440 controller without hesitation? Or should I consider that gain will not be significant? Didn't manage to find relevant figures.

Next solution would be P440+SSD, but cost is not the same.....

Bom dia, Estou com um servidor HP ProLiant ML110 Gen9 que liga e depois de uns 5 minutos desliga e so vai liga no dia seguinte,  ja fiz varias pesquisas consultei alguns colegas que trabalham na área e niguem sabe me dizer o que ta acontecendo. Por isso vim aqui pedir sugestões? O pior Não me mostra o que ta causando o desligamento, nem no ilo.

DL380e Gen8 - system board 8 memory error - question.

Hi HP community,

I have a little problem with one of HP 380 servers. I can see "System board 8 memory" sensor in error state when I run sensor state command in esxcli. What is an interesting thing that in actual ILO web interface I can see all memory modules green and happy.  Is "System board 8 memory" actual RAM memory module or is this something else? I can see memory modules listed all together above this sensor and they are named: Memory Device 1 04-P1 DIMM 1-6, Memory Device 2 05-P2 DIMM 1-6 and so on up to Memory Device 8 11-P2 Mem Zone. All sensors for those are ok.  I can't find any information online about it and support from HP ran out so I can't open an official case.  Can anyone tell me if this is something to really worry about or is it just some abandoned sensor that has nothing to do with actual RAM modules? Server is DL380e Gen 8 and esxi version is 6.0.0, 3620759.  Thank you for help.

nvme EX900 1TB AND KIT 878783-B21 DL360

Hi, I need a fast hard drive but the information is not critical. So I had thought about placing an EX900 with the M2 KIT.
I would only have that disk so that it would be bootable, do you know if the EX900 could be compatible with the KIT M2 "pn: 878783-B21"? or is it only compatible with the 875492-B21?
Thank you so much.

PD: If it is not recommended, for price I would place 3 240gb disks in raid 0.

DL360 G5, Unable to open RBSU

I'm reconfiguring a newly acquired DL360 G5 but I cannot access the RBSU; hitting F9 on the keyboard gives me a beep from the on board sounder, but doesn't open the RBSU. I've tried the ROM recovery process but it's made no difference. Using a PS/2 keyboard rather than USB.

I've also tried hitting F10, F12, etc., but apart from a beep, nothing happens (other than holding the 'reboot in' countdown timer if it's displayed.

What should I be trying next?

Hi,

We have some DL380 GEN10 servers with P408i-a SR controller and the cache status is "not  configured":

HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 in Slot 0 (Embedded)
Controller Status: OK
Cache Status: Not Configured
Battery/Capacitor Status: OK

In the Controller Manager the option to modify cache settings is not available

In the Diagnose the array accelerator is disabled and:

status=0x00010000

Battery count = 1

Battery status = 0x0001

Disable Flag = 0x01

Hi , i am new to hpe server .
i have an HPE ML350 Gen10 (3106 1P 16G 4LFF) with default Raid controller i think is (SA100i).
i want to install Vmware on this server and i want to configure Raid 10 .
i up grade RAM to 64MB and i buy additional 4LFF hot plug drive backplane cage kit and 4 SSD hard drive .

My question is , Can i install Vmaware on this server ?

Proliant DL585 G2 Firmware and BIOS

Hello friends,
I have two identical proliant servers (DL585 G2) in a test environment and I want to try to set both of them to the same firmware and bios version but I can't find any updates for the backup version...

One has an backup version from 04/30/2010, the other 05/02/2011

Both have the HP BIOS at A07 05/02/2011 and Bootblock at 09/13/2006

In addition, I noticed that the server with the newer backup version, controls the fan different (specifically more softer), can it be related?

If possible please send me some links to the latest updates available (for ILO 2 too please)

RIBCL script to read / modify ILO parametres

Hello

I want to retrieve some information from the ILO, after which I will like to modify them.
through an ssh connection on the chassis, i want to get : 

Server name
date / time of the ILO
Timzone (located in sntp configuration)

I use the RIBCL script below :

the result of the GET_NETWORK_SETTINGS command returns me a large amount of information, whereas I need only timzone information, is there a way to get only this parameter  ?

the second point, I still can not find the command  RIBCL or parameter to read the date / time BIOS for all devices Bays on chassis  (servers)

As part of a health & safety review, the organisation I work for has insisted on any 'contractor' attending site that may need to work on equipment at site needs to be 'SafeContractor' approved. I'm trying to find out if HPE ( UK ) is SafeContractor acreddited so that for any service calls for our on-site servers / switches / access points / wireless bridges, the on-site engineer arriving has the right credentials.

I've done a search of the SafeContractor database & can only find an entry for Hewlett-Packard CDS Limited. This appears to be a subsidary of HP, but didn't know if the acredditation covered all of HP ?

Anyone know of a compliance contact at HP to ask regarding SafeContractor ?

Uploading a private CA (root/intermediate) certificate to iLO?

Hi all,

We have already uploaded signed certificate from private CA.
We are having our iLO scanned for security vulnerabilities by Qualys.
Our iLO is on a network segregated from the production network by ACLs.

We granted Qualys access to scan iLO in order to keep compliant with PCI-DSS and FIPS requirements.
Qualys is reporting the certificate is not trusted.

Our browsers trust our private CA, but PCI requirements won't allow Qualys to trust our private CA.
Our only solution is to upload our CA bundle to the iLO

As per TLS spec, server certificates can include the CA bundle in the same file in the following format:
server certificate, then intermediate CA, then root CA.

So there would be 3 BEGIN CERTIFICATE lines and 3 END CERTIFICATE lines.

I did successfully integrate the 3 certificates into one file in the above format.
Will iLO accept certificates in this format? If not, how can we upload the root CA and intermediate certificates to our iLO?

Upgrading PSP version

I have some Proliant DL385p Gen8 servers that are running a very old PSP version of 2014.09. I read in one of the older readmes that you shouldn't install a newer PSP if it isn't within 12 months of the version you are running. Is this still the case, i.e if I want to move to the latest PostProduction Gen8.1 do I need to incrementally install PSPs from 2015, 2016, 2017 first before I can install the PostProduction pack released in 2018, or can I simply jump to it. (These are deployed servers running Windows Server 2012, they are not "new" builds)
