I am unable to find a way to manage the raid controller on a DL380 Gen9 running Windows Server 2019 Core. The HP Service Pack (2020/03) installs the Smart Storage Administrator but ssaclient.exe won't launch and since they got rid of the HPE System Management Homepage, I can no longer use that to access it either.
What is the recommendation?

DL380 HBA + LTO 1760 tape questions
I bought a DL380 G7 for use as an owncloud server. All is working. I decided to add LTO-4 tape to it and picked up an HP 1760 that is on the way. From what I can tell, it has the power broken out of the SAS SSF connector. I wanted tape instead of disk as one backup medium since I've had bad luck with external disk storage. I must have 10TBs or more of WD internal or external disks that are bad. I keep two copies of my data, now there will be three with the tape.
Couple of questions on this config.
1) I added an HBA, part number 614988-b21 as it was listed as being supported in the G7. I have a P410I, IIRC. Could I/should I have purchased an H240? the H240 wasn't listed as being suppored in the G7 but my doc might have been old.
2) I don't know much about SAS drives and the HBA architecture, but it looks like the HBA has a small connector with an external version not unlike the sata/esata format. I needed a cable to run from that connector on the HBA I bought so I picked one that had the small SAS on one end and the other it had the standard (I assume) SAS HD connector on the other but with power broken out. this leads me to the question, do the tape and SAS SFF HDDs have the same connector (setting aside the power being broken out)? I thinkt there are two small SAS connedtors as well.
3) One other question while I'm here, the server is loud when I plug in a SATA HBA. It isn't HP. The fans runs up to abut 50% and stay there. I dont' know if the new SAS HBA will do the same thing, but could I attach my two external archive ESATA drives to the HP SAS HBA (614988-B21) somehow? I thought I read you could support sata with the SAS HBA with the right cabling but at a reduced throughput. The SATA drives are for staging while the data is being written to tape. At least that's the plan.
By the way, I don;t know if you considered it, but someone suggested I throw my data backups in a briefcase and pitch it in the car trunk. Not a bad idea. thought I would pass it along.

Using DL385 Gen10 with GPU NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000

We need VMs with vGPU for AutoCAD, Solidworks, 3D Studio. We are going do it with VMware vSphere 6.7 U3.

There are cople questions about that. Help me please.

- Is it possible to use 2 GPU in one DL385 Gen10? What additional parts are needed?
- Is it correct System memory restriction < 128 TB although Maximum capacity (LRDIMM) 4.0 TB? Can we use RTX 8000 with 384 GB?

how to prevent boot from sd card
Hi
i have a dl380 g7 and i want to be able to use the sc slot as a normal card reader. when the windows is booted up and i insert the card, everything works perfectly, but after reboot the system recognizes the sdcard as drive c and tries to boot it and since there is no os, it wonk boot.
is there anyway to bypass the sdcard in boot?
ps. its my first server, i appreciate the simplicity of answers in advance.

(Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600E-09-10-E1) Nun habe ich mir einige neue Ram Riegel besorgt. Genau 16 GB (4x4GB). (4GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R-9-10-E1.1333 ECC) x2 vom Hersteller Nanya und (4GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R-9-11-J0) x2. Nun habe ich das Problem das der Ram nicht erkannt wird bzw. der Server nicht bootet(schwarzes Bild). Vom verkäufer habe ich allerdings auch noch einige 2GB riegel bekommen. (Nanya 2GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600R-9-10-B0.1333 ECC) x2 und (Kingston KTH-PL313/2G). Diese laufen als 6GB kombi super sind aber beteutend zu wenig Speicher. Ich habe dann versucht zusätlich zu den 3 Ram Riegeln noch den (Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600E-09-10-E1) zu verbauen, leider belomme ich dann das ziemlich lästige ram piepsen. Wie kann ich nun min. 12GB oder 16GB in meinem Server nutzen ohne Fehler?

[SOLVED] Intelligent provisioning stuck at HP logo
Hi,
I'm trying to install Windows Server 2019 (1809) Datacenter on a brand new server, but when it reboots after going through the IP settings it shows a gray bar in the bottom saying "Loading files . . ." (like when starting a windows installation) and then it just hangs at "Hewlett Packard Enterprise" logo.
Windows is an ISO stored on a USB key formatted with exFAT. I can select it fine doing the IP setup. Then i can see it copying data in the "job viewer" and finally it says that it needs to reboot to continue the installation. And this is where it then gets stuck at the HP logo.
I have already configured the OS drive and data drive in the Smart array configurator.
Here are the specs:

ML350-G6 & Blade series - Windows 10X not providing/installing/updating assorted drivers ... USB2, e

MS update malfunctioned and took-out my Z400 (April 20 - see MS Forum), so I fired-up a spare ML350G6 (easier to move/set-up than the DL380G6's).
I noticed the USB driver first did not work for drives (HDD/SSD/USB-stick), then only as USB one (1) - at ultra slow speed (less than 8Mb/minute - standard doc/text/image transfer rate to main onboard drives - although the ML350G6 is supposed to be USB2.
1. Came to HP support, followed instruction to try Win update/then update via Device Manager ... which ended in win update/Device manager saying they had no compatible drivers/nothing installed (error messages #28 & 31) - then sending me back to the manufacturers (HP) for drivers.
Rather frustrating, and going in circles tends to cause dizziness. Have HP go a URL (their's) for the USB/USB2 drivers to suit ML350G6/Blade series/DL380G6 servers?
2. Exactly the same thing happened for the USB Syopsys Controller (code 31); IPMI interface (code 28), several other devices, and the standard (microsoft) vga adapter driver (on this thing, as I recall the onboard is ATI).
Pointers to where the drivers for these components might be found - at HP - would be appreciated, because they are not at Microsoft./MS Update ... and seemingly not likely to be.
I believe the components in question probably serve some good or function - elsewise HP would not have them on the system/motherboard.
... On the way in I noticed a listing of with HP units are compatible with the increasingly schizophrenic offerings from MS (ie. Windows 10x, and the next assault on our sanity (Windows No-X?). I am inclined to say - based on function/performance ...
ML350G6/Blade series are not cross compatible with Windows 10x ... if you try higher functionality (anything over what an old 486DX100 could do).
Any help or useful pointers would be appreciated (as always). Yes to the Linux guys - but I do not have time just now to shift everything to redHOT or Umbantu; while trying to "Roll Back" (Server 2014) killed the Z800.
I use the Assorted Candies emergency procedure (keep packets in the stationary cupboard). Everytime MS product stuff something (monthly thing), I make a fresh coffee, then open a packet of candies ... much a few and try to imagine I'm off somewhere fishing, or sunbathing, etc.

I have a hp DL380 G6 server, I want to boot it from an external DVD drive(using USB port). But I dont know how to set it. I read HP ROM-Based Setup Utility User Guide Page 20/221.
For USB Control Tab, there are 4 options:
USB Enabled,
USB Disabled,
Legacy USB Disabled,
External USB Ports Disabled
I dont know which one will enable USB port external DVR Drive?

thanks in advance everyone for the help, i saw this on another post very old one and it was supposed to be resolved any idea about thsi one? server went down last night and everything points to bad battery causing it to shut down, thing thats so disturbing is all of these servers are in a CEPH Cluster and we are not even in need of the Raid for anything. Anyway this completely shutdown the server and it had to be manually brought back online

hp microserver proliant gen8 power led amber light
Hello,
I purchased a refurbished proliant microserver gen 8 (2x8 gb ram, 4x1 To hdd) and the server won't start. When pluging power supply, power led turns amber (standby) but the server won't start (I tried to hold the button for 10 sec or hammering the button with my finger multiple times, you know the deal...). When plugging Health LED blinks amber for an instant and then nothing. Nic led is flashing green. I tried with a different power supply, switch rams and HDD (4 to 0) without success. Any idea on how to deal with my problem ? Thank you in advance

How does SUM install a firmware package that was removed from a SPP image?
SUM won't install a manually added firmware package to Service Pack for ProLiant ISO.
SPP 2020.03.0 ISO was copied to USB using HPE USB Key Utility and a more recent System ROM flash package U30_2.34_04_08_2020.fwpkg was copied to the "packages" directory. U30_2.32_03_09_2020.fwpkg was removed.
When SUM 8.5.0(A) is finished running the System BIOS shows it was updated from version 2.14 to version 2.32, not version 2.34.
It's not a show stopper because I can update the firmware from System Utilities using the binary file but I'm trying to understand how a removed firmware package still happened to be installed.

ProLiant Gen10 Plus CPU Swap Troubleshooting.
I picked up a ProLiant Gen10 Plus with the Intel Pentium G5420 with a view to swapping that CPU for an Intel XEON E-2246G. This was one of the configurations discussed here https://www.servethehome.com/hpe-proliant-microserver-gen10-plus-ultimate-customization-guide/2/
I removed the Pentium and replaced it with the XEON, cleaned the thermal paste residue from the heat sink and applied Arctic Silver 5 to the 2246G. When I attempt to power on the system the system health and network light show green but the system will not boot.
After a little bit the fan kicks on high and that’s about it. I’m at a loss for how to troubleshoot this.
If I pull the XEON and replace it with the Pentium I get the very same result — the system health and network lights are solid green, the system will not boot and after a bit the fan kicks on high.
