Good morning, I have a problem with a PROLIANT DL180 GEN 9, it was working normally, but since Friday it turns off on its own, and is flashing 3x in a row with the following leds:

Healh - orange

Network - green

power - orange

UID - blue.

The machine gives video, but arrives at 23% and turns off.

Pressing UID for 5 seconds, I managed to take a picture of the Health summary

Hello,

we have a couple of DL385 Gen10 PLus Server with HPC Profile and Max Cooling enabled. There are two Server with unusual power distribution across the internal PSUs. Is this normal?

For Example:

HW PSU 0/2 CRIT - Chassis 0/Bay 2, State: "ok", Usage: 500 Watts (warn/crit at 80/90)(!!)

Server with "normal" distrubution
OK HW PSU 0/1 OK - Chassis 0/Bay 1, State: "ok", Usage: 245 Watts
OK HW PSU 0/2 OK - Chassis 0/Bay 2, State: "ok", Usage: 243 Watts

Is this a normal behavior or should i open a Call?

64 GB RAM in HP DL380 G5

Hallo zusammen,

Hello, everyone,

I treated myself to an HP Proline DL380 G5.
Now I am in the process of upgrading it a little bit. The goal is to make it an ESXi 6.5 server. Before now who says that it does not work, because the processor is not compatible with the VM version, it is said that it works with a CPU upgrade.
But that is not my problem. I have 32 GB RAM (8 x 4 GB) in the server and would like to upgrade to 64 GB RAM.
I have already bought the RAM. This is the product: HP P/N:398709-071
According to the list, this is compatible with the DL382 G5.
Unfortunately the server does not boot after installation of this. It starts and does not beep. It remains in start mode, in which all fans run at full load. Do I still have to change an option in the bios? Do you have a good tip for me?

ML350 Gen 9 Issues with Additional Drive Cage/RAID

We have a customer site with ML350 Gen9 with all 8 SFF bays being used, so we have purchased a new  1 X HP Smart Array P440/4G , 1 X ML350 Gen 9 SFF Cage, and 2 x 872481-B21 1.8th SAS 10k Drives, every time we go into the Smart Array it says 'There are no configurable physical drives attache to the current Smart RAID/HBA Controller' We thought it could be the SAS cable so we have tried both part numbers 780991-001 & 774615-001 with no Joy. The Drives have power as they light up on power on to the server. Running out of ideas.

Hello!

Ive recently purchased a Hp Proliant Dl380 Gen10 Installed a 2nd Processor. Installed VMware esxi got it all going. I went to configure the RAID setup and its not recognizing the 10K Hp SAS drives I have installed.

What ive checked so far.

- UEFI enabled in BIOS

- SMART Array Enabled

- Drive board and cables secured

When i go into the Smart Array under Disk management im getting a warning 267 " There are no configurable physical drives attached to the current controller" . All the status lights on the drives are amber  "indicating failure".

Is there anything else I can do to resolve this issue.

Thanks for any feedback

Can we use M2 2280 nvme onboard for OS install, and whole disks array in raid mode for data store?

Hello Everyone

I have two HPE DL20 gen10 and planned to install the M2 2280 nvme ssd for OS install
the 6 SAS drives on one raid5 logical volume with HP H240 storage controller raid card  will be used for data storage only.
So the question is: Can we just normal install OS onto M2 SSD then going to disk management on windows server create a parition and use it ? and how the samsung 970 evo 500G nvme card compatibe ? i know there will be some issue with 3rd party part since the mis-report temp will cause of fan over 70%. But that not the end of the world since we just out the server in lab

I'm new to HPE product and not expert on this subject, just buy and deploy for internal development, lab test  use only.

Thanks everyone

Can't update BIOS or iLO on DL380p G8

I have a DL380p G8 that is exhibiting signs of NAND corruption ("AHS Data is unavailable due to a file system issue" in iLO). I would like to try to fix it, but the iLO firmware is all the way back at version 1.22! I tried updating everything using the final Gen 8.1 SPP, but both the iLO firmware update and the BIOS update failed.

I tried separately updating the iLO firmware through the web interface. Every version I tried resulted in the dreaded "Checking HP Secure Digital Signature" message and the flash process being stuck at 1% until I physically pulled the power cables from the server. This even happened with the next version available in the history, 1.30.

I also tried separately updating the BIOS using a ROMpaq USB key, and that failed with an unknown error.

I've reset iLO to defaults, used the Erase utility from Intelligent Provisioning, and even set switch #6 on the motherboard, all with no change in the results.

Is there anything else I should try? Is this motherboard just hosed?

can't boot Windows OS after RAID mirror crash

My OS (Windows 2012R2) mirror crashed when I tried to change a disk marked as failed.

I repaired it and get to the Windows Automatic Repair / Boot in Safe mode but it won't actually boot Windows.

I have two other RAID disks which have all my VMs on them which are fine. I don't want to loose them.

-  Can I make the OS partition bootable again? I found a check box in the array configuratin tool but it does not change the situation.

- Or perhaps I should just re-instrall Windows, Hyper-V and import the machines. WHen I try to do this through intelligent provisioning I get a really scary message "Warning Pressing continue will install the OS and reset all drives..." I only want to reset the OS drive. Does this really mean it will reset all the Arrays and logical disks or just the NTFS 136.69 GB partition shown?warning.jpg

DL20 Gen 10 - Which HW options are required to add M.2 NVMe Boot Capability

$

Hi,

My system =  Proliant DL20 Gen10 (P17078-B21)

Question:

1. Which HPE hardware options must I purchase to add M.2 NVMe Boot capability to my Proliant DL20 Gen10 system?

From the DL20 Gen 10 Quick Specs I understand the HPE Universal SATA 6G AIC HHHL M.2 SSD Enablement Kit (878783-B21) as well as a compatible HPE SSD drive such as the HPE 240GB SATA MU M.2 2280 DS SSD (875488-B21) are required.

Are any additional HPE hardware options required to enable the use of the M.2 NVMe SSD(s) for operating system (in this case Windows Sever 2019) boot on the DL20 Gen 10?

Thanks

PCIE SLOT3 on DL360e Gen8

Hi,

I've bought a dl360e G8 and tried to use the PCIE SLOT3. For the test I used a cheap Network Card and Windows 10, but the OS and the bios is not seeing the card. The Server has on both sockets a E5-2420 (Generation 1). I also searched for a riser or something, but there is nothing online to find about this slot, except the information, that it is a riser connector.

HP Smart array P440ar replacement, has lost drives

$

Hi,

I recently had a P440ar fail in a DL380 Gen9 server and i have replaced it and it has been recognized by the system, I booted into the OS but the local storage array wasn't visible in ESXi. I rebooted into the HPSSA and now see the drives have all been disabled when i go into the HPSSA utility with a warning that the drive contain Smart Array  or Smart HBA configuration data and has been disabled in order to protect the configuration data. Please run the "Clear Configuration data" command on the drive to re-enable it.

I see the P440ar controller has been set to HBA mode? Could this possibly be the reason the drives have been disabled? If i set the controller to "Enalbe Smart Array Mode" and reboot the server, will this bring back the drives without losing the data on them?

I tried to look at some other DL380 we have using the iLO to see wha the P440ar controller is set too, but can't find any info.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Michael.

is hdd P/N: 872475-B21 compatible with ProLiant ML350p Gen8

Hello,

i have ProLiant ML350p Gen8 - P/N: 669132-425 with raid 1 , two hdd drives  HP model- EG0300FBVFL (HP P/N: 641552-001).

One of the drives failed and the closest avaible drive i found is  P/N: 872475-B21.

Is this "HPE 300GB SAS 10K SFF SC DS HDD , P/N: 872475-B21 " compatible with my server ?

I found info that 12G drives can work with 6G speed. Is there anyone who used such scenario?

BR,
