Hi All,

I have a problem right here. I tried to install Windows Server 2019 using UEFI boot mode, but it's showed me a notification "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation."

What I want to ask is, should I install an original Windows Server 2019 within the license? Should UEFI boot mode is boot an original OS?

Please help me

Thanks

Hiya,

Im looking to see if the cpu in this server can be upgraded, I don't need HPe to support it (its out of warranty anyways). Socket is 1151, currently its running a E3-1225v5. I was hoping to I could drop a E-21xx in there, six-core.

Is there any info on this or maybe someone has experience?

Thanks!

878783-B21 + E208i-A SR on DL380 Gen10

Hi to all

I need configure 2 nodes DL380Gen10 P24844-B21 with 24Hdd and 824i-P as Virtual San.

I need also install vMware on boot disck using 878783-B21 UNIVERSAL SATA HH M.2 KIT . The problem is that this controller don't permit boot in mirroring with vMware.

Can I solve this problem mounting a 208i-a SR as indipendent controller and connectoing Universal Sata on this one?

Thanks

Smart Storage Battery

I have a Proliant DL360 Gen9, last week I had a failed message on the Smart Storage Battery Status, it read Degraded. Search online and came to the conclusion that the Smart Storage Battery needs replacement. I order a new one, and installed it. But the error message still display Degraded, and now the status under Storage says Degraded/Cache Module Status, so now I have 2 errors. Current firmware version for the Smart Storage Battery: V1.1

DL380 Gen 10 M2 Card Connectivity

$

I just received 4 new Proliant DL380 Gen 10 Servers (VSAN ready nodes) to run VSAN for Horizon environment, but I have questions about the 2 M2 cards connectivity.  Ours came attached to the Smart Array S100i SR Gen 10, which is not supported under ESXi for RAID 1.  We will only be using the cards for booting to ESXi and for logs.  Could the M2 cards be connected to the  Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen 10 Storage Controller or SAS bus extender?

The M2 Drive part # is P19888-b21 on Purchase Order.  ILO shows model VR000240GXBBL  I don't see the drive in the front of the server, ILO shows their location at Port 6 | Bay 13 and Port 6 | Bay 14.  Where is that?  In the ILO it shows up connected to the Lewisburg SATA AHCI Controller.

Is there a cable I need to connect the drives to P816i-a SR Gen 10 controller or would existing cabling work?

Hi, we have HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server with one box and P408i-a. We also bought the HPE ML350 Gen10 8SFF Hot Plug Drive Backplane Cage Kit. On the controller, two ports are occupied from the first box, how to connect the second? And yet, no where in the documentation did I find there should have been a cable in the kit? There was only a power cable.
Thank you in advance!

HP-AMS & HP-HELATH - will there be a release for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS?

Hi,

I am pleased to see that the MCP repository now has Ubuntu 20.04 (focal) in the support list.

My question would be if we will see the HP-AMS also getting a release for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS as well?

I ams using hp-ams (2.8.3), hp-health (10.80) and hponcfg (5.5.0.0.-1) on a gen8 server, and when I navigate to the ILO4 --> System Information --> Software field, the Installed Software is stuck in "Loading..." state, and after a minute or so, the ILO4 webgui drops an error:

The Disk is offline because of policy set by an Administrator + HP DL360 Gen 10 + OS Win 2016

I am seeing Non OS disk going offline after a reboot ( Intermittently ) on all 16 New Physical servers I am working on .  Disk is a local drive/Raid Volume .  There is no SAN storage on these devices.

Verified SAN policy is set to "Online All" but the drive would still go offline sometimes  randomly after a reboot

DISKPART> san

SAN Policy : Online All

Trying to get BIOS details saved to a file as I usually do for Gen9 so I can then run a compare and load my settings but in case of Gen10 conrep is having some issue with getting the details. After identifying DL3 platform it throws

ERROR: Unable to load chif module 'cpqci.dll' - Make sure the iLO Channel Interface driver is installed. : The specified module could not
be found
Conrep return code: 0 or 255

It's conrep 4.5.0.0 , iLO 5 2.15 Apr 18 2020, System ROM U30 v2.34. Any idea?

iLO 3 lost connection

Hi,

Usually we get around by ourselves fine, but this time we need to ask help to solve this issue.

We have around 300 Proliant Servers ML110 / ML310 / ML30 (G7, G8, G9 and G10).

We use these iLO3 / 4 / 5 all in shared Network setup, no problem.

I have this specific server for some reason when SLES12 shutdowns the eth0 82574L, I loose connection to iLO also.
Can't see BIOS anything, not even access on SSH or HTTPS, until the server finishes booting OS back up again.

It's the only G7 that has this issue, all our G7 iLO3 are on firmware 1.92.

I tried reset it, disable shared and reconfigure again, nothing seems to fix this issue.

All other G7 have no issues, aside of one server I can't make it to PXE Boot after gaining IP, it's clearly this specific server, but that's another topic I guess.

Thanks for your help

Hello,

i have a proliant DL380 gen9 with 4x hard disks 1.2TB each in a RAID 0, 1 of these hard disks has failed multiple times and disabled, however we were lucky to enable it without any data loss from storage administration utility.

we are planning to replace the corrupted hard disk and insert 2 more hard disks and migrate raid 0 to raid 5 without any data loss , can you please direct me to the procedure to do this?

thanks in advance.

ProLiant DL385p Gen8 Wont POST

Hi All,

I am having an issue with a well out of warranty ProLiant DL385p Gen8, After a storm took out power the server seems to not want to come back online. When it is booted up it looks like it starts its POST and after about 10 seconds will power down with the Over Temp LED on.

After reading a few Forums I saw others having this issue with the suggestion to clear the NVRAM and CMOS. I followed the doccumentation online and flipped maintanance switches 1,5 and 6 into the on postion but instead of presenting the message that the system was being configured to default the server would not boot and had 1 long beep. I tried stripping down the server to just 1 CPU and 1 DIMM as other posts had recommended but it still would not boot. When the maintanance switch was reverted to off the system went back to its original issue of not POSTing and being in a boot loop.

As a side note iLO is working I could not see any idication of why the temp warning was coming on I did notice the event IML listing the "Critical Temperature Threshold Exceeded" events with incorrect dates ie.(01/01/1970).

At this point I am not sure what to do other then maybe look to replace the board looking for any suggestions.

Hi there,  when i start my server i get a raid low battery message, so i let the server run for a few hours in order to charge the battery. However the message is still there and i cant start the server.

My battery is https://imgur.com/M2xbhip , and i cant get a hold of a new one (i bought one second hand and that one wont work too), can i buy and use a battery that has different numbers (HP spares part and HP Part Numbers) on it? Or do they need to be exactly the same as this one on the photo.

How do I roll back to the previous firmware version

Hello
I have a somewhat similar problem.
I tried to update the firmware version of my DL380 G10 server, the SPP was supposed to be latest version, but I made the mistake of updating and downgrading all the options by selecting “force” as well for options that didn’t need updating.
Please how do I roll back to the previous firmware version so that I can attempt a new update of only the options that needed updating ?

Thanks!

Is there any downside to having way more PSU capacity than I need?

I'm running an ML350 G6 server. It has redundant 750W PSUs. According to the power meter readings from ILO2 it has only used 193W maximum in the last 24 hours.... I've seen it get as high as 226W, but nowhere near 750W.

The server currently is running the following hardware:

  • (2) Xeon 5675 processors (12 cores, 24 threads)
  • 72GB of ECC RAM
  • (1) 1TB SSD
  • (8) 300GB 2.5" SSDs in a RAID6 array (1.6TB of storage)

I may add another drive cage for 8 more drives in the future, but I think that's probably as much hardware as I'll ever add to this server.

I could replace the two 750W PSUs with two 460W PSUs if there was a reason to do so (more efficient, cooler, or something else beneficial). It would only cost around $30 so it's not a big deal, but I won't do it if there is no reason to.
