I'm using HP DL360p Gen8 for HFT trading (part number 646902-421)
I care about latency, I want to by-pass network stack (UDP at least, probably TCP too).
So I have to upgrade network card.
I want to buy three things:
- a network card (Mellanox or Solarflare)
- two transivers to connect to 1 Gb Ethernet network.
- RHEL self support (as cheap as possible)
What exact part numbers should I buy to be sure they are compatible with my server?
Dear All,
Sorry in advance if its not the right forum.
I have a DL380G4 Server and HBA Card Part number A8003A.
I want to be sure that this card can fit in the above mentioned server or not? and in future where can I get the compatibility list like this.
Thanks and regards,
Yasir.

Hi All,
We have a problem which has sporadically reoccured over the past year.
Issue:
All fans "reported" to have being removed from the motherboard/disconnected. This is when it is racked and plugged in - so not possible that any fans have been removed from the system at all.

I have looked around and can't find any possible cause for this issue. I don't want to take the server offline and check internally at present as its a busy server, but was hoping someone may be able to kindly shed some light on the problem / recommend and troubleshooting steps.
I believe we are on the latest firmware for the server as there was an indication it could be firmware related, so this shouldn't be the issue.
If anyone could provide advice that would be great,
Tom
I want to connect HP 570SFP+ to 1000Base-T, but in the spec I can't find support for the 1000Base-T.
A the same time corresponding Solarflare network card http://www.solarflare.com/Content/userfiles/documents/Solarflare_Onload_SFN6122F_10GbE_Adapter_Brief.pdf SUPPORTS 1000Base-T
If HP 570SFP+ supports 1000Base-T?
Which exact 1000BASE-T SFP module to buy to be sure it will work?
Greetings,
We have a Proliant DL380 G6 running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. The Smart Array is configured using RAID 5.
I want to replace the 4 main disks (900GB Total RAID 5) with 3, larger SSD drives (1.5TB RAID 5).
So based on what I read, the RAID info is contained on the controller, but also on the disks as well.
Why wasn't the controller able to just pick up the 3SSD-RAID5 I had moved from their original locations into the 4SPIN-RAID5 bays? I thought the controller would just detect a new disk configuration... re-read the disk info... and re-configure its settings accordingly??
I suspect that maybe, I did too many things at once. Maybe once the 3SSD-RAID5 was done being cloned, I should have turned off the computer... remove the 3SSD-RAID5 from the bays. Let the controller first detect that. Then, remove the 4SPIN-RAID5 and let the controller detect that. Finally, place the 3SSD-RAID5 back into the first 3 bays.
Don't know. Seems to me that as long as you move the whole RAID block at once (while the computer is Off, of course)... the controller should pick up the changes just as you can move around single disks on a regular PC. You may need to make boot order changes, but your data is just going to be fine. The parallel seemed obvious to me... but I guess it wasn't.
Now, my next plan is to do:
Is there a more efficient way to do this?
Thanks... and sorry for my long message...
Hi,
I have an HP ML35 350 G6 with Smart Array P410i.
It had 4 active drives and 1 spare 279Gb each making 838 G logical drive. I have added another drive and added it to the raid so there are 5 x 279 Gb drives in the raid. It has synced but logical drive still showing only 838 Gb size when it should be 1116Gb.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hello
I have a DL360p Gen8 server, 8 SFF. I found a 10 SFF hard drive cage, 692479-001 through the spare parts list.
From quickspecs I have the following information:
NOTE: The 10 SFF drive cage requires cache with the P420i order to function
properly. 24 DIMM slots for RDIMM, UDIMM and HDIMM SmartMemory installation
NOTE: A cache module is required for the P420i when used with the 10 SFF drive
cage.
As I see it I can buy this spare part and replace it with the old drive cage and optical drive.
Can anyone enlighten me if I have gotten this all wrong?
The server has P420i/1GB FBWC storage controller.
Have a good day and thank you for reading my topic.
Hello
Trying to install ESXi 5.0U3 on DL320e G8 v2.
The installer either hangs at "Loading module usb-storage . . .", OR the keyboard stops responding when you're supposed to press Enter to start the installation.
Not sure what to do.
Tried with the latest HP custom ESXI image (september 2014). Tried with one from October 2013. Tried with various boot options. Tried resetting system settings. Latest firmware/BIOS installed.
ESXi 5.1U2/5.5U2 works perfectly but I need 5.0.
Thanks
I have a garden variety of Proliant servers, all running a recent incarnation of Red Hat enterprise Linux (read as mostly versions of 5 and 6). The number of servers is in hundreds and I need to make sure all power supplies are in good condition before the data center building power maintenance starts.
I am looking for a way to get the power supply status of all these servers, either logging into ILO remotely and running whatever comand (which I don't know) and log the output to a report file, or execute something from the Linux OS to inquire the status of power supplies. I have the privileged ILO account names and passwords to all servers if necessary.
Is this possible ?
I have a DL380 G4 server with two P600 HBA's. The riser card is PCI-x. One HBA for internal drives, one for external drives. I was wondering if I could connect the p600 to a LTO-5 MSL 2024 library using the SAS external connector. I would need the cable AE468A which converts SFF 8470 to SFF 8088.
I'm seeing hints this will work at the www.insite.com web site for the part number AI468A Tech Specs tab.
But nothing definitive. Does anyone know if this works?
Hi Folks,
a customer in another country has a DL380p-Gen8 which has a 4-port Ethernet controller, the Broadcom 331FLR.
According to the "Device Manager", the ports have the following properties:
Adapter PCI-Bus Device Function ------- ------- ------ -------- (blank) 3 0 2 #2 3 0 0 #3 3 0 3 #4 3 0 1
I need to tell someone exactly which port on the back to stick a cable into. How can I correlate the controller to a particular physical slot, looking at the system from the rear, and how can I correlate the adapter numbers to the physical ports on the card?
thanks,
Rob

Hi All,
I have a DL380 G6 running server 2012r2, this is running just fine, however.
When the backup runs via BackupAssist to my external USB drive, I always get these errors returned.
"An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR89 during a paging operation."
These occur a few times for the first 5 mins from backup start and never occur again, I have no startede having a more serious message.
"The IO operation at logical block address 0x40028 for Disk 3 (PDO name: \Device\00000178) was retried."
This has happened a couple of times. Both errors have occurred on all the USB drives used.
I'm inclined to think it may be a USB driver issue, but am unsure on which driver to use as windows update says it's current.
Any ideas would be great.
Many Thanks
Richard
I am trying to perform "Offline" SPP deployment through HPSIM.
According from the documents in HPSIM, this upgrade type boots the system into Embedded Smart Start, and updates can be applied without an operating system being installed on the target system.
When we use 2014.02.0(B), it worked.
However this time we selected 2014.09.0, then we cannot select "Offline" method.
Is there any differences between the two SPPs?
Hello
I have 2 quick questions about our server needing a small hardware upgrade.
My company would like to improve our proliant ML350p G8 CPU performance by adding another Xeon 2403.
I saw that we needed to add a FAN to the first slot.
I would like to know where I can find the fan to buy?
(it's not the proliant G8 V2 that is currently on the website it's the previous, but IDK if it will be compatible).
My second question is about the processor.
Can I simply buy a Boxed Xeon 2403 ?
(will it have the heatsink or should I buy an heatsink from HP too?)
Regards,
C.
Hello.
I have a Proliant ML110G6 motherboard with bios meant for server.
Is there a bios firmware so I can use this motherboard in a desktop function.

Hey guys..
Does anyone have a pin out diagram of this port ?
I'd like to pull power from it and convert to PCIE power for graphics cards..
Is that possible on this server? Will it refuse to post during power-up ?
