ProLiant ML350: unexpected freeze and reboot

Hi all,

I'm having trouble with a HP Proliant ML350 G5 just formatted and unexpected reboot.

 

The configuration is the default with only two new 1TB disks bought from HP seven monthes ago and added in a secondary RAID 1 configuration for the data in addition to a RAID1 of two 256GB HD for the OS.

 

I've noticed the reboot in this occasions:

 

1. Moving a big ISO file from the NAS to the server in the secondary RAID1

2. Windows Update synchronization

3. Windows Update installation

 

Moreover sometimes the system freeze completely.

 

I've tested the system with software like SuperPI, Prime 95, HeavyLoad for hours monitoring the temperatures and no reboots has never occured.

 

In the iLO 2 Log I see "Server reset" / "Server power restored" or "Server power removed" / "Server power restored" entries.

 

In the IML section the last log is from five monthes ago (I attach a screen shot of the logs).

 

What could be the cause of this reboot and freeze?

 

What are the tools I can use to test the whole system to obtain a definitely response?

I intend to use HP servers,

which server model/type support with SAS FRU 3.5'' HDD 6Gb SAS?

because i have more HDD 2TB SAS FRU not used in the office and i want to use it for new server.

if you dont mind, please give me some info, what model/type HP server i can use for this HDD?

SBS2001 on DL380P Gen 8 HP intelligent provisioning Required driver cant be installed

SBS2011 DL380P GEN 8

Using  HP Intelligent Provisioning
Gets to step 2  in Windows install
then stops with Windows

 

 Installation can not continue because a required driver could not be installed

We have updated Intelligent Provisioning to the latest version for server

 

Ran it up using  the ISO on a USB stick, on a CD and via external CD


Intelligent Provisioning  found the ISO  on the stick as a source, ran the install and failed.

Proliant DL360e Gen8

Dear all,

 

a customer is reporting the Proliant DL360e Gen8 installed at the office, is experiencing high fan speed rotation, without a specific reason (CPU utilization is low, and room's temperature under control). Probably the fan reported is the PSU one.

Because the server room is not usually guarded, they can not say how many times does the event occur an a day.

So, accessing to iLO or other places, is possible to get a Log of temperature or fan rotation speed?

H241 with Netapp E-2700

Hello,

 

we have got a HP H241 HBA in a DL360 Gen9 connected through HD SAS to a Netapp E-2700.

On the Netapp E-2700 we created several volumes and the H241 only sees the first one "LUN 0".

If we change another volume to LUN 0, the H241 sees only that one.

 

So whatever we try to do, the H241 always only sees LUN 0 and none of the other volumes.

 

Could someone please help us with this issue?

Newest firmware applied on both devices.

Replace DL380 RAID 5 drive with a drive from another DL380 RAID 5 server

I have a failing drive that needs to replaced. I have 2 DL380's with a RAID 5 configuration. Both have the same hard drive model numbers. Both servers were in use and have an OS installed.

 

Can I pull a drive from the DL380 I am not using and swap it with the failing drive in the DL380 I am using?

How to replace failed drive in RAID 50 array in HP DL380 G7

Hello,
I have a HP DL380 G7 with 8 drives of 300 BG. A RAID 50 is configure on it and one drive has failed. I want to replace that drive. I tried to do that by removing the bad one and just adding the new and put on the server. But the server doesn't load the OS at all. And when I do a rollback, the server can start normaly, while led of the disk in blinking to the red. 

 

Please, could someone help me?

Hp proliant DL480G5 power issue

I have two servers HP proliant DL580G5 , one of them shuts down suddenly after

- almost one hour for the first time .

- 5 minutes for the other times .

 

the Event log say this :

hpqilo2 , power supply 2 has failed

- The UPS is now on maintainance and the server runs directly on the power of a local power generator

Any thing I can check or maintain to fix this ?

DL120G5 Easy cd set up Smart Start?

We have a DL120G5 server that needs to be upgraded to at least to Windows 2008R2 to get the Exec back up to work for our Exchange server 2010.  We don't have cd or iso for this server all the smart start we have downloaded comes back with

"Unsupported Model - installation not available".  Is it possible someone can provide me with the correct version of either smart start or easy cd setup for DL120G5 server. Or provide some sort of way I can get Windows server 2008R2 on there.

HP Smart Array P440ar in HBA mode

Hello,

 

I have an issue with HP proliant 360 Gen9 with HP Smart Array P440ar in HBA mode.

Server has 8 X 900 GB sas drives installed. Server works in BIOS legacy mode.

 

I'am trying to install centos 7. Centos7 installation only detects 1 HDD, other 7 are missig (same with centos 6.5).

HP Smart Storage Administrator (HPSSA) shows all 8 drives.  

 

What do I need to do in order to resolve this issue?

in the windows system log was found below message ,have any idea?  i think may install ssd issue?

on controlle(bus2,device0,function0) i/o failed for 28. i/o being retried via raid path for lun(0,1,1)

we have upgrade P420i controller firmware .and hpcisss3 drivers.

HP ML310e ProLiant v2 Gen8 + Универсальное аудио устройство USB

К серверу HP ML310e ProLiant v2 Gen8подключил аудио устройство USB - работает программа сигнализации объектов, встроенного аудио на материнке нет. Универсальное аудио устройство USB - из USB наушников, наушники отрезаны и перепаяно на настольные динамики.

Всякий раз после "Завершения работы" или "Перезагрузки" сервера значёк "Динамики" на панели задач перечёркнут красным крестиком и звук не работает, хотя в "Диспетчере устройств" в пункте "Звуковые и аудио... устройства" - "Аудио устройство USB" - "Состояние устройства" пишет что "Устройство работает нормально".

Чтобы звук заработал нада каждый раз заходить в "Диспетчер устройств" нажимать "Удалить устройство" потом "Обновить конфигурацию оборудования".

Но простому дежурному персоналу это сделать очень тяжело, они вызывают "компьютерщика" в 3 часа ночи...

Как решить эту проблему, кроме как купить PCI звуковую карту? а может и она так будет работать?

HP ProLiant SE servers

Hi all,

 

there are quite a number of 2nd hand HP ProLiant SE servers available at resellers. Given the prices and and specs I currently feel they are the most interesting offer for my needs.

 

I am slightly concerned however that the HP support side does not mentioned that product at all. Searching the forum I realize they are "custom build" (even though maybe at a very large scale) servers for specific datacentre clients.

 

Also I read that they are "similar" / "same" as DL servers.

 

Will DL drivers (Windows Server 2008) work on those?

Is there a chance to register with HP to get support? - Whereas that to me would not really mean anything more than getting access to the correct drivers for Windows Server versions.

B320i controller: Side effects of enabling physical drive write cache state

I have an HP ProLiant DL360e (G8) with B320i controller. I want to enable physical drive write cache state.   It seems easy to do this from the HP Smart Storage Administrator | Modify Controller Settings.  My two questions are about the side effects.
1)  Does this force a rebuild of the drive array?  Cannot live with this!
2)  Does it require a reboot?

ILO V2 using CLI to mount and boot from HTTP ISO

I am trying to mount and boot from a Red Hat ISO that I have put on a web server.  Because I am working remotely in a secured environment I do no have web interface access to the ILO only command line.  So  here is what I have:

So, when I do a "reset hard" the system goes through a bootup, but it boots to the already installed OS on the hard drive, not from the ISO that I'm trying to use to install a new OS.

 

Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?  Please excuse the obscured IPs, but again, it's a secure environment and I'm not supposed to let those get out.  They do match.

Convert existing 2-disk Raid 1 to 4-disk Raid 1+0 in ONLINE mode

Hello,

I have a Proliant DL380p Gen8, currently with 2 disks configured as a Raid 1. I run the HP-supplied-image of Vmware 5.5U1 on the server. I just purchased 2 more SAS drives of the same size as the existing disks (4TB each). I have a P420i controller with firmware 5.42. I would like to:

1. Convert the existing 4TB Raid1 logical drive to an 8TB Raid 1+0 logical drive without losing my existing data. Can this be done?
2. As this will take some time to do, I would like to do with the virtuals machines still running. This means using hpssacli on the ESXi 5.5U1 host. Can some give me the exact sequence of hpssacli commands for this procedure?
3. Expand the VMFS5 datastore. This part is a VMware question, not an SSA question, but I mentioned it in case anyone has insight to this step as well.
