Hi forum,
is it possible to attach an external SAS LTO drive to an DL385 Gp5 with a P400 controller ?
I was thinking of a cable, which I can attach to an internal port and pass it to the outside.

Hi,
I have a new HP ProLiant DL80 Gen9 server installed with VMware ESXi 5.5 U3b HP customized ISO (VMware-ESXi-5.5.0-Update3-3248547-HPE-550.9.4.5.7-Dec2015.iso), using the Intelligent Provisioning, and the Disk performance is very slow at approx 4MB/s write with Latency of 40ms. Can you help us in troubleshooting this issue?
Hi,
does anyone know what ILO alerts on? On Gen 9 servers i see the Alert Email option and i have enabled it but i was wondering if this alerts on failed disk, psu & fans? if i were were to pull a disk would it alert (i cant test as the DC is 200 miles away).
cheers
Hi,
Please help me identify a compatible external SAS tape drive that is compatible with HP Proliant DL 380 G7.
Please suggest the additional PCI SAS card that can go with it.
Best regards,

HI

This is a Test Host so it has one PSU by design. with older g6 / g7 we dont had this issue.
i already rebooted, powerde it off, itsd a frsh isntalled esxi server with latest Firmwares.
Any ideas?
thanks

I have HP Proliant Dl380P G8 Server with 4 SAS 600 GB configured as Raid 5
I istalled new SAS Drive 600 GB on the server i opened ACU and found it as an unassigned Logical Drive created array for this new drive then I deleted the array
Unfortunatelly after deleting the new Logical drive. i found the original array with 4 SAS Drives Deleted as well !!!
I Rebooted my Server, I found the array again Configured as Raid 5 same configuration before it has been deleted, but inside ACU--> View Status and Alert for this logical Drive threre is one Alert. Code Number:786 "Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progress on Logical Drive 2 (1.6 TB, RAID 5). If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O is performed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve."
I Rebboted my server but there is No Operating System found ??
Is there any way to recover my System again ?
is it Possible after the Background parity initialization compeletes the all data recovered
Please Help me as soon as Possible

Could anyone till me what is HP Online Chat Support For Servers ?
Hello,
One of the disks was amber blinking so we decided to change it. It seems (after reading some posts here and there) that the correct way of doing this is simply remove the faulty disk live, wait for 30 seconds, then plugin another disk and everything should go fine. I didn't know how to do a disk replacement, and apparently I screwed up. I hope there is some chance to get my OS back to boot. So what I did instead is grab an HP SmartStart CD, reboot the server on CD, and change the disk. The SmartStart assistant was showing RAID problems (like RAID is broken). I didn't get any screenshosts nor logs, so sorry for very vague information but basically it was saying that the 1. the disk was kaput and 2. the RAID was kaput. Then I called a colleague and out of despair we have tried many things, without even understanding what we were doing. For example, we switched all four disks to the right (they were on the left, we kept them in order though), then we moved them back to the left, then we changed the replacement disk with another replacement disk, since the error on the RAID was still there we put on the old faulty disk in the hope that the RAID would get fixed. Eventually the RAID got fixed and the logical volume, but I remember at one time when we rebooted the server we hit F2 and we agreed to lose some data (the message was saying that hitting F2 may cause some data loss), in the hope to get the RAID rebuilt, even with some data loss. So when the RAID got finally rebuilt and all 4 disks were green and there was no error or warning in the SmartStart assistant (the CD software), the server finally booted, but it is stuck at grub level (we have debian linux on it, only one OS, and only one LV in one RAID 5 array of 4 disks, without any spare).
What I am seeing right now is :
GRUB loading.
Welcome to GRUB !
error : unknown filesystem.
entering rescue mode
grub rescue > _
Any idea if this is recoverable ?
Please mention how to give you the necessary information you might need, assume I don't know how to give it to you. This is the first time I am doing this.
Thanks for any help !
Hi! We have DL380 Gen9 server and only one installed standalone HDD (witout any RAID). It's seems like HDD is going to die. Could you help me - how can we clone all information from the HDD to another new HDD and make 100% identical disk to make old Windows OS, Services and Programms running on the new HDD? Thanks!
Got a problem where I need to format all 6 of the ML350 G5 hard disks which can be set in a Raid 0. 1+0 or 5 config.
I've tried doing this though Linux by using GParted but it throws up errors.
I've also tried using KillDisk but each hard disk takes 5 hours for just 1 pass.
I've also tried using the Windows 2008 Server CD and I have failed.
I could really use the help because I am trying to keep a job which could lead to a work placement for a computer hardware related apprentiship.
I have lots of desktop experience but relatively little server experience.
Hello Community
I want to ask you for purchasing new HP server for my organization. My choise for now is http://www8.hp.com/emea_middle_east/en/products/proliant-servers/product-detail.html?oid=7146997#!tab=specs . The primary targer of server will be, for host OS i think to use Centos 6.7 or 7 and run kvm virtualization with guest OS - Windows Server 2003 R2(because server dont support directly Windows Server 2003). In Guest OS i will deploy only MS SQL 2000(32 bit version and max 4GB RAM Usable) with arround 50 workstation clients daily. Server has CPU e5-2620v3, 16GB ddr4 RAM, 4x300GB Sata disks and storage controller p440ar. Raid level will be 1+0. So my questions are:
1.This server a good choice Is for database?;
2. KVM virtualization(enough hardware resource for host(centos 7) and guest OS(server 2003 R2)? to work optimal together without problems?
Please your recommendations
Hi there,
I have two companies which I sold a ML310e Gen8 with B120i RAID-controller each. These companies now have merged and want to reduce these two servers to one single server.
Company A has 2 WD RED 3 TB as RAID-1 for OS and data,
Company B has 2 WD RE4 1 TB for OS as RAID-1 and two WD RED 3 TB for data as RAID-1
Since the server of company B has hot-swap drives I want to put the two OS and data drives from company A into the server of company B:
New Company: 2 WD RED 3 TB OS and data of former company A and 2 WD RED 3 TB data from former company B
When I remove the old 1 TB WD RE4 drives and put in the two WD RD 3 TB drives the RAID controller complains about harddrives not in the right place and the ACU shows 4 unassigned drives and no logical volumes.
So my question is how can I boot the second server from the RAID-1 of the first?
Thanks for your help,

All I can find is information about the trial period, or about version 2. I need the license for version 1. Thanks.
Good Afternoon,
We are trying to update all out HP ProLiant kit and have succesfully patched our ESXi Hosts and ILO.
When we come to patch our Windows Server Estate we are recieving the below error.
"Failed to retrieve share path(ADMIN$) details from remote node:10.**.**.**"
I have tried using Domain Admin and Local Admin details to no avail. I can browse to the ADMIN$ path in Windows Explorer and don't believe the below ports are blocked.

Hi,
Does anyone know how to get IRC working with Chrome or FF?
Thanks
FYI we have recently purchased 2 DL380 Gen 9 servers (Performance). The integrated Intelligent Provisioning is pretty useless on both servers: neither the BIOS update nor the correct versions of the integrated NICs were detected and we had to prepare a bootable USB key with hp SPP 2015.10.0 in order to update the relevant components. the BIOS firmware wasn't even detected by the IP and the 2 firmwares of the nics reported incorrect firmware revisions. What's happening with Intelligent Provisioning? Not much apparently.
