HP Proliant ML 370 G6 Power issue

$

I has a server HP Proliant ML370 G6 (PID:487791-371) which has symptom as No power LED or any indicator light on. It has redundant power supply unit of 750W REV:05 (Spare No:511778-001).

Suspect the power supply backplane board faulty (But checked the board, nothing burned)

After i order the power supply backplane board REV:05 (491836-001) and replaced, the server is powered on with no error indicator light on.

After few days, the server cannot powered on as previously.

I take out the power supply backplane board and checked, there is a IC (As attached) is burned.

I'm no sure what is causing the power supply backplane board faulty again.

Anyone, please advise/comment as soon as possible as the server is critical and needed to be up for production.

Thank you and I appriciated your assistance.

Hello,

I'm trying to install VMWare ESX 6.0 U2 on a proliant DL 360 Gen9, but i cannot :-(

During installation i have to select the installation target, but i can't see my HDD (RAID1) on the host.

Please can you help me?

THX in advance.

RAID1 replacing of the failing drive, adding and activating spare drive.

I made a RAID 1 on two disks status of the logical drive is OK.
In the raid, the first disk (mirror group 0) has the status: Predictive Failure, and the second (mirror group 1) the status OK.
I added a third disk as a spare by ACU (hpacucli - Everything carries on a running system) to eliminate damage to the drive when replacing.
Can I turn on rebuilding the data on the disk spare? How do I change the status to "active spare" ?
Spare disk must be formatted before? After the reconstruction "spare drive" can I replace it as a second drive "data disk", instead of the damaged ?

I have a new ML 150 Gen 9 and am installing 2012 Essentials ROK. The installation proceeds to a point and then fails with a "Could not locate file" error. I think related to the HPSSBEM.exe. I am installing from an external USB DVD.

Any help would be appreciated please?

DL160 Gen9 - behavior of RPS in case of fan failure

$

Hi,

we are considering buying some DL160 Gen9's with RPS backplane and dual power supplies. RPS backplane on this model uses single fan and PSU's are fanless.

Does somebody know what happens in case of RPS fan failure? Will server turn off?

All other fans in DL160 Gen9 can be configured as N+1 but this RPS fan worries me.

Thanks.

Hello All, I am using HP Proliants and have a question regarding a server running Windows 2003 Server. It's a ProLiant DL360 G5 with a Raid 1 Mirror (having two HDD of 146GB). One of 146GB drive failed and I want to replace it, but we have 300GB HDD. Can we use this 300GB HDD in the place of failure 146GB HDD. The details of HDD are as below. Failure HDD Details: Make – HP HP Model – DG146BB976 Capacity – 146GB 10K SAS

New Available HDD Details : Make – HP HPE Model – EG0300FCVBF Capacity – 300GB 10K SAS

Unhappy with DL360 Gen9 Provisioning - the URL's it tells me to visit are dead?!

Writing in anger at the moment so please forgive my tone but we just dropped over $40k for two servers and have issues right out of the box.  The link on the documentation that is supposed to register the server to passport redirects me to the consumer site for registering printers and consumer junk like that.  Ok once I figured that out and found the 'create passport' link on my own I headed over to www.hpe.com/go/InsightOnline like I am told to and I get this message:

There are no documents registered for the subject you requested (go/InsightOnline).                    (1)

So 40,000 and you can't be bothered to make sure things are correct before shipping?  Now I have to waste time writing this and looking for the links myself?  I don't have this issue with Lenovo servers.

Shoddy.  Just shoddy.

Server doesn't boot properly

Good morning,

I'm have two servers with the following configuration:

    • HP PROLIANT DL360 G9 E5-2620v3 (2.40GHz)
    • HP DDR4 16GB 2133MHz/PC4-17000P
    • HP HD 600GB SAS 12G 10K SFF 2.5 SC HOT PLUG (x2, RAID 1)

Windows doesn't start automatically, and also in a server, never boots.

I do the following steps.

  1. Set defaults in bios (configured as UEFI).
  2. Create RAID1 (HP Smart Array P440ar, only 1 volume)
  3. Set RAID as default volume.
  4. Restart
  5. Intelligent provisioning
  6. Install Windows.

After Windows install, the server reboot automatically, and in the first server sometimes start windows, sometimes not. In the second server, Windows never boot.

If you need further information please ask, this problem is driving me crazy.

Thank you

Firmware Update for Virtual Connect Modules

Hello !

Need help in upgrading firmware on my Virtual Connect Modules.

Infra : In the VCSU healthcheck results, we get one “primary”, one “backup”, and 2 “subordinate” modules.

Question:

To update firmware, which one should we upgrade first ? Any of the subordinates ? or Backup ?

I'll be either using HP SUM from Windows Machine, or will use VCSU utility for upgrading the firmware.

Attaching the screenshot of VC Modules.

DL180 G6 - server wont start (no bios) after memory install

Hi,

Last night I tried to upgrade a customers server with a Kingston 4gb memory card. On starting the server it would not even get into bios (monitor didnt get signal, fans running at 100). Removed the new card and server boots fine.

I actually had two idenitical cards, one for another server and both cards produced the same fault.

The card is a Kingston "KTH-PL316ES/4g" - the kingston website suggests it is compatible with the DL180 G6.

I installed them to the second white slot nearest the processor (first white slot already occupied)

Any ideas?

Target local iLO with HP PowerShell cmdlets (without using host name or IP address)

$

0

Is there a way to target the local iLO automatically, without specifying an iLO name or IP address, with the HP iLO PowerShell cmdlets?

When I build a new server from an image, the iLO most of the time is not yet configured or on the network.  I want to write a PS script that configures the iLO as part of the sysprep process of building a new Windows server (a run-once script).  So I need to be able to target the "local iLO" in the script since the iLO does not have an IP yet assisgned to it.

Since the "HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility" can do this, I am assuming it is techically possible for the PowerShell cmdlets to do it also; just not sure if HP actually implemented this feature.

Thanks

iLo3 alertmail / hardware failure notifications

Hi all, looking for a simple hardware failure notification solution for our physical HP servers.

iLo4 works on the newer generation servers with the "alertmail" feature.  But not sure that is an option with iLo3 on the older generation (G7) servers.  I don't see the option there.  Might it be in a newer version?

Woud rather not talk about HPSIM.  :)

thank you for any help!

Need help.

I have setup Raid1 with smart array and then booted from vmware 6.0 U2 (March 2016) CD to install vmware,

it can not find a logical driveto install the vmware.

I installed the Controller P440ar.

Thanks!
