Hello Guys,
Hello Guys,
Recently I found one of the 8 fans in the server got defective and replaced it with a new one. After everything is wired up correctly, I pressed the boot button, and expect it will boot as usual.
However, after I pressed the button, the fans spins up to maximum as usual, but the whole server shut down again after 1 second and the health light flashing red rapidly.
I have checked I didn't mix up inlet and outlet wire , and i didn't find any problem in the Light-Out
Could anyone here help me figure out what happened?
I have a ML350 G6 that had a drive in a mirror set go bad.. Replaced the drive with an HP spare and it said it was rebuilding.. I checked back later that day and it said 776 (Ready for Recovery) Logical Drive 2 (931.5 GB, RAID 1) is queued for rebuilding.
I researched and found others with same issue and suggestions to upgrade firmware.. So I upgraded the firmware to 1.86.. Had same results as above..
ACU was also complaining about the battery so I replaced that with a new one, also same results as above..
Below is the ACU diag report as I'm unsure what to do at this point.. I cannot get this to rebuild..
Any help is apprecaited. Thanks
We have 2 identical DL380 Gen9 servers running as a pair of 2012 RDS servers.
Each with...
128GB RAM
2 x Xeon E5-2650v3 @ 2.30GHz
RAID 1 - 2 x SAS 15K 450GB
iLO configured
They are rack mounted, one on top of the other in an air-conditioned server room.
These were installed and commissioned July 2016.
We are experiencing an odd problem when they are required to restart, however it doesn't happen all the time but too often to ignore.
If one is restarted, the POST will put the internal FANs into high speed mode. This triggers the neighbouring DL380 to run its own fans at high speed too!
Not only does this happen, the DL380 that is restarting will not complete its POST. It will report errors such as…
"329-Power Management Controller FW error" and "312_HPE Smart Storage Battery 1 Failure" Contact HPE support.
This also happens Vice Versa.
Yesterday evening both servers were restarted at the same time, following the Quick System diags (no errors found) via the iLO remote management interface and they both failed to start properly. They both stopped at 52% POST, both iLO ports replied to pings but were not accessible to manage.
The only way to overcome this problem was to remove all AC power cables (Redundant PSU present) and restart the servers individually. They started, no errors reported during POST and no errors reported in the IM Log.
Both Servers have been updated using the HP SUM April 2016 DVD in August but the problem still happens.
On a couple of occasions before the latest HP SUM update, the fans on both servers would run at high speed during normal operation for unknown reasons. After an hour or so, they both quietened down again.
How can one DL380 influence the other? are they psychic or are they communicating via the iLO somehow and how do I resolve this??
Just to throw something else in the mix, one of them had a Red Screen of Death RSOD yesterday during normal operation - x64 Exception Type 0E - Page-Fault Exception.
I will raise a support ticket with HPE but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Graham
Im looking for which HP DL servers or controllers support the 8Tb SAS ST8000NM0075 drives.
Buongiorno a tutti,

I have HP ProLiant DL360 server with RAID 5 (HP Smart Array E200 Controller).
OS - Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
I want to set up alerts from RAID to e-mail. Is it possible to do it using hardware capabilities only?
If not, would you be so kind to tell me how to do it using software, smartmontools for example.
Hello Experts,
I am middle of a project and my application supports only Solaris 10 update 11 where as my server is a new generation HP DL380 Gen9 E5-2620v3. Kindly support us by suggesting any tweak or patch to accomodate the Solaris 10 for this particular project.

Dear Team,
Greeting!!!!
I am trying to install the Solaris 10 in HP Del380 Gen9 Server and my server serial no is :- CZ3628EMPX.
I am stucking after the boot the server from the Solaris 10 DVD and its not proceeding further.
kindly let me know any alternate how i can install the Solaris 10 in HP Del 380 Gen9.
There are 2 DL580G7 normal operation after the restart, now the 2 machines are not power, connect the power line, press the switch button will hear sound alarm, "Ding Ding" machine diagnostic panel all memory alarm display, no display output machine. Observe the display code on the machine IO board as "40". May I ask what's going on here? How to solve? Thank!
Hello.
I've a raid controller which is HP Smart Array P410.
also I've four SATA3 HDDs(1TB * 2ea, 2TB * 2ea) which are all HGST.
I want to organize raid-10. Fig 1 is my plan.
Fig 1. My plan
I've selected four disks for raid-10 (Fig 2).
Fig 2. Select four disks and raid-10 option.
However, only 1863.0GB is available(Fig 3). I anticipate about 3TB disk size. How can I solve the this problem?
Fig 3. Raid-10 disk capacity problem.
I'm alreay updated p410 raid controller firmware. (v3.0 -> v6.64) however, It still shows 1.8 TB disk size that consist of raid-10.

Hello, I will appreciate every advice on this issue.
I have ML350 Gen9 server, I'm using hponcfg.exe utility for ILO port automatic configuration.
I successfully logon ILO management with active Administrator user and password. When I'm trying to modify Administrator user with hponcfg.exe I get error message : User Login name was not found.
<RIBCL VERSION="2.0">
<LOGIN USER_LOGIN="Administrator" PASSWORD="validpassword">
<USER_INFO MODE="write">
<MOD_USER USER_LOGIN="ILO_admin">
<PASSWORD value="newpassword"/>
</MOD_USER>
</USER_INFO>
/RIBCL>
I successfully logon using user: Administrator password: validpassword
Why does the script fail with error message "User Login name was not found" ?
Thank you in advance.
My DL580 Gen8 is only detecting 3 processors, it says the 4 is not installed? Would this be a driver issue? I clearly purchased a server with 4 processors?
Hi,
i have a brand new ML110 Gen9 without any HDD and installed VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-Update2-3620759-HPE-600.9.5.0.48-Apr2016 onto an internal SD-Card (tried it with an usb-stick too). The Problem is, that the fan wont go lower than 38-40%. If i go into the SSA (storage config) menu to configure HDDs the fan speed drops to 13%, but in esxi not. Is this a known problem, as i have the feeling that its not a hardware but software problem.
FirmwareInfo: I updated the server with the 2016.04 ServicePack and updated ilo to 2.44
thx in advance
Mike
I have two HP ProLiant DL360e (G8) with B320i controller (512MB with battery). If i install Windows 2008R2 or Hyper-V everything working fine (normal hdd speed and iops). But when i install ESXi server (5.0, 5.1, 5.5, 6.0) the speed is very slow (only 70 iops) and any manipulation with ACU (enable Cash or disable and other) don't do anything.
Are there any considerations?
Hello all,
I have a question about the entitlement a Customer/Reseller should have to ensure to be able to download BIOS updates AFTER the 1st year of support's end.
If the Active Warranty of an HPE ProLiant DL180 Gen9 will end after its 1st Year of purchase, then which base support agreement covering that HP Proliant server model must be chosen to continue to access BIOS Downloads AFTER that date?
Is there a basic Care Pack to choose? if so, which code/name it has (Foundation Care/Proactive Care, what else?)?
I mean: I will not need the 24x7, Call or NBD...just the possibility to continue to Download BIOS/Firwmwares and released SPP (Service Pack for ProLiants) AFTER 1st Year of purchase.
Is there a document that explains all the possible options in a clear and simple way?
Thanks!
Good day to all,
If I have a Proliant DL180Gen9 that I have applied at purchase time the carepack:
U7AT3E / HPE 3 year Foundation Care 24x7 DL180 Gen9 Service
and at the same time i purchased in the same PO the following disks:
782669-B21 / HP 6TB 6G SAS 7.2K rpm LFF (3.5-inch) Midline 1yr Warranty Hard Drive
And hipotetically one (or several) disks fail at month 24.
1- Will my Proliant 3/3/3 warranty covers the disks?
2- Or is the Foundation Care that covers the disks?
3- Or (see below) Im out of warranty because the disks claim 1yr warranty?
From the HP SAS Hard drives document:
SAS Enterprise hard drives have a 3 year limited warranty regardless of the warranty period for the system in which they are installed.
SAS Midline hard drives have a 1 year limited warranty regardless of the warranty period for the system in which they are installed.
4. Or because of this, then I do have protection and the disks can be replaced?
Service and Support
NOTE: HPE SATA and SAS Hard drives are covered under the HPE Care Pack/ Service Contract applied to the HPE ProLiant Server. No separate HPE Care Packs need to be purchased.
This question is because I want to build a scale-out configuration with large (bigger than 2TB) drives and ENT drives go up to 1.8TB but Midline have 2TB, 4TB and 6TB drives.
Thanks for your advice. My local HP Supplier bailed out on this question and a HP LATAM representative I spoke to was only able to roboticly-read the warranty lines on PDF files and suggested I go with ENT drives for the 3yr warranty avoiding my "I dont need 1.8TB drives" comments.
Thanks for your comments.
I have 2 DL380 G7 servers running Citrix XenServer 6.0.2 what is the highest version of SMH that i can run with this version it looks like 7.3.3. but that is what i get on the website but the release notes for 7.3.3 say XenServer 6.2.0
