Hi, what controller or addon card will allow me on a DL180Gen9 see the disks as JBOD. Meaning no 1-drive/Raid0/per_drive craziness?
I want to run Ceph and specifically I want Ceph to run the disks, not the SmartArray.
thanks

Hello all,
This is a newbie question - I am trying to complete a first install of SRV2012R2 using an ISO on a USB stick - and installing through HPE's own install structure.
I keep getting so far and the installation halts citing that windows cannot find the licence terms. I am using the Microsfot trial ISO - intending to input the license number after installation.
I have no real access to any settings other than the size of the partition on the array.
This is no doubt a small thing I am missing. All help appreciated.

I have a single cpu installed in my ml350 G6 and I want to add another. the server currently only has 2 blue fans and a plastic triangular air guiding part which directs air toward the memory of the first cpu. I found a compatible second cpu. So now I think I only need another heatsink, thermal paste, and possibly one or two other fans. I read online somewhere that hp servers won't boot if you don't install enough fans. I found this upgrade kit online which includes the heatsink, thermal paste, and a single blue fan which will make it 3 fans in total. Will this be enough to make the computer boot up?
At some point my default Splash Screen changed and now I can't seem to get it back. I think I have tried everything with no success. See photo for details. Any help or ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have followed the instructions I found here but with no success. http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=mmr_kc-0107107
Server is running out of space
Right now server is running with 3 hard drvie with Raid2+1
Is it possible to do all the following at once: not to reinstall the system, change Raid to 5+1, and insert the new hard drive to increase the server space.

We have a ML 350 G6 server with a single Xeon E5620 Processor. Looking up the speed rating on pubenchmark.net its rated as 4887. If I add a 2nd processer as they are pretty inexpensive these days, what kind of speed boost can i expect? I assume its not going to really double it or is it?
Thank you!
Hi.
We have two DL580 gen9 with windows server 2012 R2 in a failover cluster. SPP 2016.04.0 is installed, Drivers, firmwares and tools.. We use the HP Insight management agents (SNMP). the version installed is 10.40.0.0
Now to the problem, the service HP Insight Foundation Agents won't start. I get the error message:
"Windows could not start the HP Insight Foundation Agents Service on Local Computer.
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly."
and an error in the application log:

I tried Uninstalling the agents and reinstalling them but no change in behavior. (tried both 10.30.00 and 10.40.00). With the error refering to cpqclus.dll i figured i try removing the Cluster Information from active agents in the HP management Agents settings in the control panel.
After i've done that the service starts as it should.
Some additional info, Microsoft SQL was uninstalled and removed from cluster management and then reinstalled and added to the cluster. After that procedure we started to see this issue with the service.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this issue? Are there any type of persistent cache in the HP agents that i can clear so it reads new info from cluster or something that might enable it start with the cluster information agent anebled?
Best regards

I have replaced a failed RAID 1 disk with a new disk that I have configured at BIOS level so that it displays in HP Storage Manager.
However, the new disk & logical disk does not appear to be rebuilding and I fear i have done something wrong..
can anyone advise please ?
thanks
is it supported to mix memory carriers in DL580G7 I have 2 AS parts 617524-001 and 2 650761-001. I am trying to add memory and want to know if I can use these or if I need to have 4 of the same
At some point my default Splash Screen or it could be called the Post Screen, anyways it changed and now I can't seem to get it back. I think I have tried almost everything with no success. See photo for details. Any help or ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated. It's not urgent to get this fixed but I really want to find out why the Default Post Screen isn't showing anymore.
P.S. I have followed the instructions I found here but with no success. I have tried the BIOS serial console port option Disable and Auto and I still get the same Post Screen. I also have the Logo Power On option Enabled. http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=mmr_kc-0107107
Hello all,
In reading the latest HPE Smart Array P440 Controller QuickSpecs (August 2016, here) I noticed that the HPE Smart Array P440/4G Controller option kit (726821-B21) - with respect to the other possible HPE Smart Array P440/2G Controller option kit (820834-B21) - doesn't include the HPE Smart Storage Battery (727258-B21) which acts as the backup power source necessary to protect the Controller data on its Flash-backed Write Cache).
A note in that QuickSpecs says:
"HPE Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC controller option kit does not include the HPE Smart Storage Battery the backup power source necessary to protect the data on the Flash-backed Write Cache. HPE Smart Storage Battery is an item that has to be purchased separately if this is the first P-series Smart Array controller on your Gen9 server."
My question is about sentencing: that "...is an item that has to be purchased if..." means that the presence of the HPE Smart Storage Battery is mandatory for the (first/single) HPE Smart Array P440/4G Controller option kit (726821-B21) to work or just that it's only highly recommended but not mandatory?
In other terms: Can the HPE Smart Array P440/4G Controller option kit (726821-B21) work without the HPE Smart Storage Battery (727258-B21) installed?
If "Yes, it can" is the answer...can I add the HPE Smart Storage Battery (727258-B21) at later time (provided that this later addition will require an adequate Server maintenance window)?
Thanks!
I have a DL320 G4 it was running fine until power was lost one night. Ever since it will not boot up. Initially i thought PSU was bad and i ordered a new one and i still can not get it to boot or POST. When i plug in the power cord the PSU makes a steady clicking sound. When the main power connector is disconnected from the motherboard it stops. I jumped the green wire to a black wire in the harness and the PSU turns on just fine. When connected to the motherboard i get the clicking sound and some internal LED flashes. There is a row by the 2 Dip switch banks. From the Outside in there is:
LOW - CR2 - CR4 - CR7 - CR10 - CR11 - CR12 - CR13 - CR14
all these lights flash green in succession with the clicking noise.
Hello!
Will it (hp smart array p440ar/2gb fbwc) work on windows 2003 R2 Standard ?
I need some help about power pins of ml 350 g6 motherboard.
I have a atx power supply 750 watts with 24 pins, but this motherboard (ml 350 g6) has 22 pins.
Is there any way to adapt it whitout backplane power ?,
Thanks!
We have some servers being flagged with the following vulnerability: Intel Network Adapter Diagnostic Driver IOCTL Handling Local Denial of Service.
Recomendation: The vendor has released an update to address the issue: https://security-center.intel.com/advisory.aspx?intelid=INTEL-SA-00051&languageid=en-fr. Obviously there are no intel nics on the servers so the fix is not applicable.
I have downloaded and installed latest firmware and drivers and still getting that vulnerability.
Servers are Proliant dl385p Gen8 running Server 2k8 r2. Any ideas/suggestions?
Just replaced all drives, memory, & system board.
When booting, server only boots to POST 30% with long continuous beep. After a minute (or less) beep turns off and screen goes blank, but the server (fans, etc) is still running. Also noticed an amber LED light up near the bois chip on the system board. Search everywhere for beep codes and other troubleshooting, but nothing matches up.
Does anyone know what would cause the continuous beep and/or why it only boots to 30% POST?
Thank you,
how do I add servers in my estate to the hpe portal by serial number
