conrep on Broadwell-EP

Hi,

using conrep I can dump the current BIOS config. However, there is no list of available values for each setting, e.g.

<Section name="QPI_Snoop_Configuration" helptext="Note: &quot;Standard&quot; is the same &quot;Home Snoop&quot;. This option allows for the configurations of different snoop modes that impact the QPI interconnect. Changing this option may improve performance in certain workloads.">Cluster_on_Die</Section>

How do I find out what setting to use for Home Snoop (Default, obviously) , Early Snoop, Home Snoop+DIR+OSB, etc.

Is there a list of all settings and their possible values?

Thanks!

WS460c Gen8 or Gen9 with 630FLB and FC capability?

I have a WS460c Gen8 server running Windows 7 Professional.  I have a 630FLB that is supposed to carry both LAN and SAN.  Is this server supposed to support FC on the LOM if configured correctly in VC Manager.  I have 2 NICs, and 2 FC connections, I also have the SAN connections built as well.  I have a BL460c Gen9 server in this same chassis that I can see logged into the SAN, so Im not sure what the problem could be.  When I get into the WS460c BIOS, I can see the 630FLB, but when I go to bootable devices, the only thing I see is the local Storage Controller.  Am I missing something?  I have also been on the Cisco Switch and did a "show flogi database", which shows me some WWPN's, but none from the WS's (3 installed in chassis).  Disregarding the OS that is installed (because that may be another issue), I should see from the BIOS of this card the ability to see something.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

DL380p G8 cpu support

I need to know what processors this server will support at BIOS level P70, which is the latest one on the support page.

If the E5 v3 family is supported, I need to know that, too.

TIA for replies

What ports does the iLO PowerShell module cmdlets require

Does anyone know what ports need to be opened on a firewall to allow the HP PowerShell module cmdlets to connect to and manage an iLO?  I am used to dealing with a Windows OS to detemine the ports needed - but the iLO is whole different beast.

Hello,
On the server was installed cpu intel E2160 pentium dual-core.

Installed cpu intel xeon 3060. When loading the BIOS writes "Unsupported processor", press F1 and continues to boot. Loading esxi 6.0 up and working.

Updated Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade for HP ProLiant DL120 G5 Servers (For USB Key-Media) to version 2010.10.25 (A)(13 Dec 2010).

Updated Firmware Upgrade for HP ProLiant DL120 G5/DL180 G5/ML150 G5/ML110 G5/ML115 G5 Lights-Out 100 Remote Management (For USB Key-Media) to version 3.20 Rev. B.

The question is, why the message "Unsupported processor" continues to appear at startup?

Installing Windows Server 2012 on an ML110 G5 with RAID?

$

Hi --

Has anyone been able to / is it possible to install Windows Server 2012 (in my case, Essential) on a Proliant ML110 G5 server with the on-board RAID chip enabled?

I've been going around in circles and cannot seem to get this to work.

Using the latest "HP Embedded G5 SATA RAID controller" driver I could find (for Windows 2008 R2, cp024648) doesn't work. When I run the Windows installer and it shows me the list of drives to install to, the RAID1 logical volume that was confirmed upon BIOS boot doesn't show up, but its two component hard drives do. Loading the Windows 2008 R2 driver mentioned above doesn't change this. The driver is loaded without error, but then I'm taken right back to the list with the two hard drives.

I actually installed Windows Server 2008 on the machine (to RAID), verified that Windows only saw the SYSRAID1 logical disk as its only hard drive, then upgraded the machine to Windows Server 2012. When that was over, I was left with two physical drives -- one in use, one empty -- despite the machine, on boot, still claiming that there was a defined RAID1 LD.

I've pored through posts high and low, and haven't found anything useful. One post from one of these HP Forums did sound promising, but it linked to drivers on an HP FTP site that apparently has had all those directories removed.  I've also come across references to an Adaptec driver (not from HP) that would do the job, but I can't find it.

Is this a hopeless cause, or is there a way to do this?

Thanks

HPE Smart Array P440/4G Controller: is Offline Firwmare update possible?

$

I have a HPE ProLiant DL180 Gen9 equipped with HPE Smart Array P440/4G plus HPE Smart Storage Battery.

I've a problem in trying to update the acutal factory Firmware (V3.00_B0) of the HPE Smart Array P440/4G before any OS install...so in what I think is known as "Offline mode".

System ROM Firmware can be updated in "Offline mode".

Is that possible also for Smart Array Firmware?

I tried with a HPE SPP 2016.04.0 Customized ISO tailored for my HPE DL180 Gen9 with:

  • Service Pack for ProLiant 2016.04.0
  • Hot Fix Supplement Bundle for SPP 2016.04.0 2016.04.1

with Base Packages and Driver, Firmware, Software (Critical, Optional and Recommended) for Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 related to Array Controllers, Hard Drives, NICs, System ROMs and iLO devices...about 900Mb...but I wasn't lucky.

I saw that SPP contains the 3.56 and 4.02 Firmwares but those are for updating the Smart Array Firmware from inside the OS (Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 in this case)...not for the "Offline mode" as when you run SPP!

I expected that HPE SPP "Offline mode" has been able to update my Array Controller Firwmare without the pre-requisite of having an OS installed (I didn't configured anything on the Smart Array yet, disks are inserted and recongnized, OS in not installed yet)...but once deployed, it found - with my surprise - that my DL180 Gen9 was considered yet updated (which isn't the truth...since I manually updated the System BIOS from 1.50 to 2.20 then).

The point is that HPE Smart Array User Guide advices to upgrade the Smart Array Firmware prior any usage of it...so I tried the F9 way at boot (it permits to update System ROM, NIC Firmware and Smart Array Firmware) providing - I hope - the necessary firmware.bin.fw file (extracted from the hp-firmware-smartarray-ea3138d8e8-4.02-2.1.x86_64.rpm RPM file) to let the HPE Smart Array P440 Firmware update procedure but the system reported that that file provided wasn't recognized.

Probably I was wrong with the Firmware file but...will I be forced to create a SPP on USB key instead of the SSP DVD and add that Firmware file to the USB key to let the SSP starts the Firmware update or the F9 way is feasible (providing that the Firmware file is correct)?

SmartArray, disks and migrations

Hi to all,

i'm new to HP and SmartArray controllers.

I have some (maybe stupid) questions:

1) can I use my favorite disks vendor with SmartArray or only certified drives labelled "HP" are supported? I have a bounch of Seagate SAS disks that I would like to use.

2) In SmartArray data sheed I've read that disks could be moved across all SmartArray controllers with no data loss as RAID configuration is compatibile for the whole family. Is this backward compatibile? In example, can I move a RAID-6 disks created with a SmartArray p440 to a p840 and viceversa, from p840 to a p440? In this also true for older generation controller like a very old Smart Array P400?

I'm asking this because we don't change servers/controllers very often, so, in case of a big mess, would be easier for us to move all disks from a failed server to a temporary server that could have a different controller (always smartarray) waiting for the replacement part for the broken server. In same corner cases, the temporary server could have a controller older than the original one.

3) Are SmartArray controller supported on all Proliant Server, obviously if the host interface is supported, or are there any constraint, like SmartArray P400 not supported on newer generation and viceversa, SmartArray P840 not supported on a very old DL380G5 ? Having, in house, a single SmartArray controller available for replacement sharing multiple servers, would greatly decrease the maintenance costs.

4) is Debian supported? We only use Debian or XenServer in our environment. Will I be able to do firmware updates from debian ?

ML350G - Configure RAID with SATA Disks connected on the motherboard

HI,

I have a ML350G6, with a RAID controller P440, with 2 RAID configured (SAS HDD 2.5"), and it works fine.

I addzd 3 HDD SATA 3.5" directly connected on the sata port on the motherboard.

They are seen in the the check at the boot of the server, abd are seen in vSphere (which is installed on the server).

My problem is that I don't see where I can configure a RAID in the BIOS for the HDD connected on the motherboard.

In ORCA, I don't see my HDD, I only the HDD and logical drives of the RAID controller P440.

So, how can I configure or enable the RAID for the HDD connected directly on ther motherboard ?

Thanks for your help.

And excuse my English....I'm french :-)

Our db server has a logical raid 1 drive. One of the drives failed. I have tried four different replacement drives and they all fail. Its giving me a drive mix 0x25 error for the reason it failed. they are both sata 500gb drives.

Its an HP dl380 g6, I am using smart array config. Two of the drives I tried were same everything (firmware, brand, speed, type, etc.). still failed. the other three were different brands

Any advice here would be much appreciated.

求教,HP DL380 G5 raid5 扩容操作

产品名称: HP DL380 G5
操作系统: Microsoft Windows Server 2003
