Use Set-HPiLOIPv6NetworkSetting without restarting the iLO

I need to change the SNTP settings on an iLO with PowerShell.  To do this, I first need to use Set-HPiLOIPv6Networking to disable SNTP from IPv6.  Then I need to use Set-HPiLONetworking to configure the SNTP settings (because the iPv6 cmdlet does not include SNTP settings - only to disable it).

The problem is both of these cmdlets automatically restart the iLO after running.  So after disabling IPv6 SNTP, it restarts the iLO before you can run the IPv4 cmdlets to set SNTP - and this makes scripting the whole process a pain.

Is there a way to supress the restart of the iLO in the IPv6 cmdlet?  I looked throught the help for it and I dont see anything, but maybe I am missing something.

Thanks

ILO session idle timeout

Hello,

We have several HP Servers and ILO 4.x versions.

I need to know is it possible to create an auto timeout a user session if that user is shutdown the session not by logging off.

This would prevent other user login error . Let's say in 15 minutes if that session is idle , it should be reset.

Thank you.

how to analyze adurep ORT

HP DL180G6  用hpacucli收集日志,解压zip包后很多内容都是16进制的,无法阅读。  网上查了一下,早期有提供adu reader用于解析,但是现在都找不到了。 不知道有没有其他方法。

正常解析完应该像这样:

http://community.hpe.com/hpeb/attachments/hpeb/itrc-195/13216/1/137909.htm

 Translated Version

HP DL180G6 collect logs with hpacucli, many elements are in hexadecimal, unreadable after extracting zip package. Online search a bit, there is provided adu reader for early resolution, but now can not find. I do not know there are other ways.

After parsing the normal should look like this:

P440ar, HBA mode problems

$

I inherited some DL360 systems which had P440ar Smart Array controller to which the OS drive and 7 data drives were attached.

My workload was a Software-based storage one (Ceph) so I really wanted the data disks to be JBOD.

I first configured the P440ar into HBA mode and I saw all the disks, and things basically worked but this was definitely not functionally stable when running Ceph benchmarks. (Note: I didn't encounter any
other disk-related problems, for instance when running Google stressapptest with disk based threads).

When I then configured the P440ar into 8 arrays of 1 disk each, with RAID 0 mode on each array, it worked fine, with no functional problems running Ceph benchmarks.

Why would HBA mode have problems? When I configure HBA mode on the P440ar, do I still have to do some setup on the embedded array controller on the system motherboard?

Logical Volume Error on VMWare Host

$

Hello everyone,

I've just started to recieve an error message in Veeam One and Vcentre saying that a Volume has failed in one of our Host servers.

I did not build this network nor do I have any documentation to assist, so I'm demystifying things as I go.

I've done some research and they all suggest a disk has failed in the set and must be replaced, so I've got some replacments lined up ready to be delivered, but first I wanted to confirm the disks are actually faulty or whether it's the raid card or somehting else that will rectify itself after a reboot.

This a VMWare host running vsphere and when viewing the hardware status tab for this host it says:

Logical Volume 1 on HPSA1: RAID 5: 1117GB: DISK 1,2,3,4,5: FAILED, out of 268 sensors.

Now despite that message the 5 disks that make up this array are all reported as working fine and have green lights next to them in the same hardware window, so can anyone advise me as to how I can best determine where the problem lies and how to resovle it?

Just to say the server is running and so far (touch wood) no virtual servers running on there have been majorly affected (things seem a little slow to me is all), but as it's not running Windows on the server do I need to boot from the SmartStart CD and run some diagnostics on the disks and go from there?

This is a production system and this host has several file-sharing servers and our Exchange email server running on it, so I'm going to see if I can move some of those to another storage location, but I don't have the capacity to have them actually run on another host (I've maxed out all CPU and RAM resources across all Hosts to get the best performance) so I'm just trying to avoid losing the vmware image files in case I lose all data on the volume.

So the plan is move the critical server images to another location but leave them assigned to this Host, then power down the host and reboot to run the disk diagnostics from CD and see what happens -anyone think there's a better way?

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

Need help with DL180 G6 - VRD_PWRGOOD_FAIL

$

Hello.

I had a personal server go down this morning.  While trying to bring it back online via the ILO, it's reporting the following errors in the Event Log.

Generic 09/17/2015 18:24:23 FAIL_TO_PWR_ON State Asserted Assertion
Generic 09/17/2015 18:24:23 VRD_PWRGOOD_FAIL State Asserted Assertion

I see that the State is 'Asserted' for the Module/Board named VRD_PWRGOOD_FAIL, but I'm not finding any references as to which component this relates to so that I can track down a replacement part.

I have reseated the obvious, power-supplies (both appear to be working when power cords are attached), memory, drives, cards, etc.  The system will start to power on when the power switch is pressed or the Virtual Power is toggled, but then shuts down approx 5-10 seconds later.

Can someone please provide me more insight about the 'VRD_PWRGOOD_FAIL' module/sensor and what component this relates to so that I can swap it and get this baby back alive?

Thanks,

-Chris

BL460c Gen9 / Win 2012 R2 / VC 4.30 - Wrong Mac Address

$

Hi All,

Since some times I've a problem with our new BL460c Gen9 ...

Configuration :
BL460c Gen9
SPP 2016.04
Virtual Connect 4.30
Windows 2012 R2

Problem :
With a fresh install of Windows 2012R2, installed SPP2016.04 firmware and driver ... Mac Adress seen by the Operating System are wrong and different from the virtual connect side ...

By Example, in my virtual connect profile I should have 00-17-A4-77-34-XX (where XX is variant as I've several Nic configured), but in my Operating System I show only my "Embedded FlexibleLOM with Mac 70-10-6F-78-BD-XX" ....

As you can imagine, it doesn't work as when I restart my server Operating System is not able to link it to hardware ... For the moment the only solution found is to reinstall the operating system and use a old SPP ...

Already tried without success :

* Update driver from SPP 2016.04

* Update firmware (Windows + Boot) from SPP 2016.04

* Full Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 Patch

* Delete and refresh Network card on Operating System

* Delete and recreate Virtual Connect Profile

Is there anybody in the same case, or anybody with a solution ?
Best regards

Olivier

Gen8 v Gen9 BIOS - CLI AWOL? Serial upload/download of config no longer possible?

$

Hullo. I have received a Gen9 DL380, and as part of the normal build I inject/extract all the BIOS settings into it via its iLo serial port.

This was done in Gen8 by pushing SET CONFIG statements into the BIOS CLI mode, and you could retrieve the full BIOS resulting config with one command.

As far as I can see, the Gen9 BIOS has no CLI mode anymore?? (At the moment I'm missing the iLo serial port itself and using iLo ssh as it went AWOL from the first order, so there's a chance it only exist when that's installed?)

Have I something obvious? Can serial no longer be used to setup a HP server? (Massively time-consuming manual meatbag menu mazing with a is really not a practical alternative)

Adding microcode for CPU support on a ML350 Gen9

Has anyone updated/added Intel microcode to their ML350 Gen9?

I have two ML350 Gen9 systems that I am trying to upgrade the processors. One system is running as a dual processor system and the other is currently without functioning processors. I get the dreaded 275- Unsupported Processor Detected error.

After some digging (while on hold with HPE support) I see that adding the Intel microcode for my processor's stepping would support these processors. I am looking to update the microcode on my systems to support my 4 processor's stepping and remove the 275 error.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

How to power on blade without a profile

HI all,

We have had a lot of issues with HP Oneview and profile errors.  As we have to troubleshoot bios, apply service packs etc, we need to have the server powered on....however the blade will not boot because it is "not configured for virtual connect"

I can't even boot to reset the RSBU settings on the blade because of this restriction.  How can i get around it?

Performance with Embedded Array Controller

$

I inherited some DL360 systems which had P440ar Smart Array controller to which the OS drive and 7 data drives were attached.  I wanted to experiment with the embedded controller instead so I moved the drives there.  (the P440ar was still in the system just nothing connected).

When I measured dd performance using reads with iflag=direct, performance was as I expected, in fact was similar to using the P440ar in HBA mode.  However, when I tried dd writes with oflag=direct, performance was terrible (less than 10 MB/s).

Is there some configuration issue I am missing?
