DL360p direct connect to 3PAR 7200?

I'm in an interesting situation of inheriting a contract for IT engineering from a previous contractor that was fired. As a result I have a bunch of hardware that was ordered by the last guy that I have little to no understanding of what their intention was for it.

I have several sets of 4xDL360P servers and an accompanying 3PAR 7200 SAN.  I THINK the intention was to directly connect the dual HBAs on the DL360Ps to the 3PAR (no fiber switch, none was ordered).  While looking up the concept of direct connect, or flat SAN, to a 3PAR StoreServe 7000 series I keep seeing references to it being done with a c7000 blade system.  We have some other enclaves setup like that.  I can't find any reference in documentation of rack mount servers being directly connected to a 3PAR.

Does anyone know if you can directly connect a bunch of rack mount DL360s to a 3PAR 7000 series?  The HBAs work out to directly connect.  There are 4x fiber ports on each storage processor and 2 SPs (8 total).  Each serer has 2 HBAs.  In theory I could wire the first server HBA to the first SP and the second HBA to the second SP and it would work out perfectly.  I however have no way of knowing if this is a supported configuration.

Has anyone done this?  Does anyone know of any documentation describing this config?

Oh and the servers will be VMware ESXi hosts.

I can't install the titled software because :

"Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed."

Yet, the very first screen says: 

"The software is not installed on this system, but is supported for installation."

Any ideas ?

We have servers hp proliant 380 g7, which has an arrangement in Raid 1 and Raid 5, recently a server was damaged, did not fire more and we did not have opportunity to back up the information that contained, so we chose to change it for a server that we have In stock, so we generate in the new server raid 1 and raid 5 again and place the hard disks of the previous server in the same position on the new server, when starting with the new server if windows startup normally as in the previous one Server but to our surprise raid 5 does not recognize it and asks me to format it which we did not do and it appears partitioned (on the previous server if we had it partitioned) but without assigning a volume and without the contained information

My question is is there any procedure for me to recognize raid 5 or if we delete the information with what we did?

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a DL160 G9 Server

I have two DL160 G9 servers that we are trying to install Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.  I do not see any direct support for this on any of the HP webpages.  I am wondering:

A. Is this possible?

B. If so, what is the nearest Windows Server version that would be equivalent to the Win 10 we have?  (Server 2012R2 ? or Server 2016 or another.

C. Driver set for the Proliant peripherals.

We already have Win 7 Pro 64-bit installed on these, which I was told was equivalent to one of the earlier Windows Server editions.

Hardware Malfunction, NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Hi, 

I have a DL320 G5p running on Windows 2003 recently have a hardware malfunction error. I have done a physical check and no amber light were to be found. Is there any other way to detect if it's really a hardware issue besides accessing it through the ilo? 

Windows logs have been collected from the event viewer as well, but nothing significant was found. 

Please advise, thank you!

Servidor HP Proliant 380 g7

Tenemos servidores hp proliant 380 g7, el cual tiene un arreglo en Raid 1 y Raid 5, recientemente se daño un servidor, no encendió mas y no tuvimos oportunidad de respaldar la información que contenía, por lo cual optamos por cambiarlo por un servidor que tenemos en stock, por lo que generamos en el servidor nuevo el raid 1 y raid 5 nuevamente y colocamos los discos duros del anterior servidor en la misma posición en el servidor nuevo, al arrancar con el nuevo servidor si inicio windows server normalmente como en el anterior servidor pero a nuestra sorpresa el raid 5 no me lo reconoce y me pide formatearlo lo cual no lo hicimos y me aparece particionado(en el servidor anterior a si lo teníamos particionado ) pero sin asignarle un volumen y sin la información contenida

 

Mi pregunta es existe algun procedimiento para que me reconosca el raid 5 o si con lo que hicimos borramos la información?

Adding hard drives to ML350e server

Hi everyone, 

I have an ML350e Gen 8 server (p/n 686771-S01) in which I added a P420 controller at purchase (p/n 631670-B021). The first drive cage is filled to capacity with 6 LFF drives.

I need to add hard drives to this server to increase storage space.

From what I found online, I would need to add a second P420 controller. I also need an additional LFF drive cage  with the hot plug backplane, but I just can't find the part number for this item.

Can anyone help?

Workstation wx8600 system board for ProLiant ML150G3???

Hello folks

Hope someone can help - I've been running an old ProLiant ML150G3 as a home server and media server.

I wan't to upgrade by replacing the system board with a Workstation wx8600 480024-001 system board (for ML150 G3 P/N 410426-001)

Can anyone think of a reason not to?

display problem of p212 card

Hi , I have a card is p212/256MB

I connect it both internal and external. but the display of list physical drives confused me .

I have 6 drive connected internal, and 1 drive connected external.

Upgrading existing drives by hot swapping

Hi everyone, 

say I have a RAID array made up entirely of identical 2TB drives and I want to upgrade these drives to 3TB ones. Can I simply remove 1 drive, wait 1 minute and slide in a new 3TB drive, wait for the rebuild, and do the same procedure 1 drive at a time until they are all replaced?

My concern is that I would not be replacing the hard drive with an identical part number....

Hi everyone,

i have a prolinat dl380 g7 , hp bios p67 05/05/2011, raid 5,

i install esxi 6.0 on this server and all ok, after install, i onnect to serve rwith vclint, and then i try to install win 2012 s.e. r2, but during istall the server not disc to install win server...have any idea..to help,..?.

Hi

we have 25 HP Proliand DL380 G5 and 5 HP Proliant DL380 G6 all working and running W2K-12-R2

now i want to buy and LTO-7 stand alone drive but im not sure about the compatibility between our servers and the planned new LTO7 drive . what are the other hardware requirement that i need to buy to connect the drive SAS cables cards etc ?

TPM Module for Gen8 Servers

From what I read is that TPM 2.0 Module from HPE is only supported on Gen9 or later servers. Is this correct?

So if I have Gen8 servers then I need to use TPM 1.2, but that encryption is using SHA1 so it basically isn't secure. I'm trying to verify that I can't put a 2.0 module in a Gen8 server. If I'm only left with a 1.2 module then I don't think it is worth using the module.

Hi to All

I have a question to ask

One of my clients is running ProLiant ML350 Gen9 server with an embedded P440ar Raid Controller connected to 1 Drive Cage with 8 x SFF drives. They are adding another Cage Drive with another 8 Drives but was supplied with External P440 Raid Controller should they be supplied with a SAS Extender Card to connect to the Cage Drive. I can only find documetation refer to the extender card. According to our presales team It is an support configuration and that I can install the External P440 card and connect it directly to Drive Cage 2 port 1 and 2. However I have tried it but the server sees the P440 but dont see any drives connected to it. I cant find any documentation about this.

HP Proilan ml318 gen 8 cannot expand logical drive after upgrading HDD

The ACU does not have the option of Expanding the logical drive but can create another logical drive with the free space. I read that I need a battery backed write cache. I need to know what kind or if there is any specification for this particular part? The Array is Dynamic Smart Array B120i RAID.

ML350 Gen6 - power on failure

I have a Proliant ML350 Gen6 server that was having problems with randomly shutting off. I could power it back on and it would stay afloat for a day or an hour and then shut back off.

I tested the power supplies in a similiar model and found those to be in working order. I then read that this problem was caused by a failing system board. I have since replaced the system board, but the problem remains. I can hear the system begin to power on but then it dies, tries again one or two more times, then dies for good. I was never able to see anything in the logs warning of a component failure or an impending drive failure, etc. Server has been working fine without any issue for the past 8 months.

Am I at a point where the Power Supply Backplane might have failed? I'm not sure where else to look.

system won't shut down properly

we have a new ProLiant ML350 Gen9 loaded with Win2008 r2 sp1 server . after finish test run the server ( which is OK) the system wont shut down properly .. if we force shutdown  the system  it will display error message " fatal error ". then display blue screen before totally  shutdown.

я пытаюсь установить win7 на мой  HPE ProLiant ML10 Gen9, на в процессе установки win7 не может определить клавиатуру и мышь.

как я могу отключить xhci ? не могу найти этго в BIOS.
