Intelligent Provisioning stuck on GRUB prompt DL320e Gen8 v2

Hello guys! I was about to reset Windows server 2012 local administrator password. And in order for me to do that, I believe I will have to boot from windows 2012 install disk using "Intelligent Provisioning".  But when I press F10 Intelligent Provissiong I'm only seeing a black sreen with GRUB prompt.

I do remember upgrading to 1.63 when I install Windows 2012. I already tried recovering from 1.63, 1.64B and even 1.61 version with no luck. I'm still stuck with GRUB prompt.

When I go to iLO System Information - Firmware Information, Intelligent Provissioning Firmware version is N/A. also on iLO Selt-Test Result showing: Controller firmware revision 2.10.00 Embedded media manager failed initialization.

OS Ubuntu, in logs no errors.

May 19 - 5 times, May 20 - 0 times, May 21 - 4 times, May 22 - 2 times.

where to look?

Out of Band mangament via SNMP, SNMP on HP Proliant DL360 Gen9

Hi All,

I am newbie and in my learning phase. I am not familiar with MIB/OIDs where I can read more about it.

I am trying to monitor the server health(CPU/Memroy) using SNMP.  I have enabled SNMP port in HP ilo, but still not able to access it. When trying to access it from different linux server where I have installed snmp.

 

$ snmpwalk -mALL -v1 -cpublic my-server-ip system
Timeout: No Response from my-server-ip

 

I was reading some threads, and they mentioned I need to configure SNMP under Admiration->Management tab. Is it necesaary?

The important part here is I want to do it OOB(out of band).

IPMI on HP Proliant DL360 Gen9

Hi, 

I am trying to get sensor data via IPMI, when I am trying to connect to the machine I am getting below error.

$ ipmitool -H my_server_ip -I lanplus -U user -P password sensor list

Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session
Get Device ID command failed
Unable to open SDR for reading

I have enabled the IPMI from iLO4 settings on port 623, frimware version is 2.50

Please help where I am doing wrong, did I miss any configuration. I am a newbie.

USB Keyboard lock ups

On our ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 Server running Windows 7 32bit we have a sporadic issue with USB ports locking up and need to reboot servers to get the keyboard and mouse back. We have confirmed all power management setting for the USB's are disabled in both the Power Settings and Device Management for the USB ports.

HDD cage question

I have been ordering some HPE desktop servers for small projects. I've now noticed some come with hot swap cages that requires HDD trays and others just come with cables and you mount your HDD using screws.

For most projects I dont need the cages and would rather just have the drives help with screws. Is there a way to know how the servers are configured before purchasing. Is there a way to remove the cage and replace it with a cable instead?

Hi HP Team,

I have a server HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 and will update the firmware and drivers. HP tell us that we have to take a BackUp of the server before that teh begin the upgrade. The question is that you have a procedure to take this backup or the paths of the files that we need to save. The server does not have data base only have an aplication and we have the backup of this.

Adding a new SAS HDD to Proliant DL380 Gen9

Dear All,

 

This is very first message of mine in this portal. I hope to find a solution with your support.

I am using HP Proliant DL380 Gen9 in my organization. It is inculded with 500GB drive for OS, and 5 Hard Drives (RAID based) in Hard Drive Bay. All hard drives code is: 653957

I wanted to add another drive to my existing bay. But I will not connect to this drive to my existing RAID structure. So I bought a SAS 781577 and connected with my server. Hard Drive's light is blinking at the beginning and then it turns off. I also can not see my drive in "diskmgmt.msc"

I am afraid of the drive is not correct for my server. Or is there any restrict to connect a new hard drive to existig bay?

Can I install Microsoft ESXi on HP DL360e gen8.

This server is currently running a licensed Windows 2012 Server, but I want to transform it on a virtualization environment.

I want just unplug the windows hard discks and plug 2 new, and if I have any problem installing the ESXi I want to be able to switch back the windows HDs to continue using the old environment.

What I need to known, there is any hardlock?

I making this question, because some times ago I tried to install an UbuntuServer on it, but I was not able to do this because after the installation the ubuntu wasn't able to boot. This forced me to go back to Windows.

unknown base system device windows 2012

Hello to everybody,

 

I have a little problem with a HP Proliant ML350 Gen9 and Windows 2012 Server. The problem consists in many Unknown Devices in device Manager.

  •  +- 60 Base Device
  •  5 Performance Counters
  •  1 System Interrupt Controller

I alrerady installed all updates of Micorsoft and HP, but even so tjhe devices are sttil there.

Any help will be appreciatted.

i need Jobd for 4 sata 6gb SSD

 i never want to use RAID , Jus Pass trough Disk to os ..

OS : ESXI 6.5

kindly if any body tried H240 on g6,g7,g8 hardware Tell me , or if possible , Try h240 on g6,g7,g8 hardware 

i know G7 servers have PCIE 2 , and on 8x interface maximum support 4 GB/s thats enough for me .

Hi everybody,

I have a ProLiant DL380p Gen8 with SmartArray P420i and 8 300 Gb discs with RAID 1+0 configuration. I need to extend my storage without buying new disks so I what to change the raid configuration from RAID 1+0 to RAID 5. In the online documentation https://www.hpe.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04111534.pdf I can see the contoller has the online RAID level migration feature but I have not used it before.

Could someboy help me with the steps I have to follow in order to change the raid configuration?

Hi

I have HP NC522SFP card installed on my prolliant D380 server and i want to do Networking between two servers for SAN. I want to know which cable is supported for this card ? i want to use Direct Attached cable ?

Is it really necessory to use HP brand cable only or other brand is also supported ?

DL380 Gen9 with P440 - SAS drive not detected

Hi everyone,

I tried to install 300GB SAS disk (EG0300JFCKA), but can not be configured.
I referenced "Installing a hot-plug SAS or SATA drive" in HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 Server User Guide.

When I installed the SAS drive, 
"Activity ring" is rotating green on and off, and then "Drive status" is flashng amber one time.
After that, "Activity ring" is rotating green very often and SAS drive is not detected.

In manual, this means "The drive is not configured and predicts the drive will fail".
I want to know the cause and the solution. Does anyone know the way to solve this problem?

anyone can share how to install centos 7 on DL380 Gen9 Server ?
Which one is the correct one , using intellegent provisioning or legacy boot ?

I'm using DVD and USB Key and have no result.
I'm stuck,
