560 10Gb FlexibleLOM zeigt falsche Anzahl an Controllern und Firmware

$

Hallo Zusammen,

LG

Proliant DL320e - Drive is failing

Hi all,

I started to work in a new company two days ago and in one of the server rooms I saw that health led blinking in red on one of the proliant servers DL320e. After the system restart POST message appeared with info that drives in bay 3 & 4 are failing. These are non-hot-plug drives. I didnt had time to figure out if these drive are in raid or not.

Does this mean that I should replace them as soon as posibble?

There are no leds on their carriers.

Guide: Windows 2016 Creating a Bootable OS when image size is greater then 4.7 Gb

Hi Everyone,

I ran into this issue and could not find clear documentation on what to do, here is the solution I evetually found,

To create a UEFI Boot USB with a image that is too large for the required FAT32 Format.

1. Grab the ISO
2.Mount the ISO
3.Create a new folder, place all data from iso into it.
4. Find the Install.wim
5. Run this command chaging the paths as needed

Dism /Split-Image /ImageFile:C:\Users\--your user here--\Desktop\install.wim /SWMFile:C:\Users\--your user here--\Desktop\install.swm /FileSize:3800

6. Take the new SWM files and place them wherever you found the Install.wim.
7. Format USB with Disk Part to use FAT32 format
8. Place all files from created folder directly onto USB.

The USB should now boot from UEFI mode.

Hope this help whoever needs it!

Hi all

I have 7 hard disks installed on my new HP

ML350 GEN9 E5-2620v4

300 GB for each, I made two of them as Mirrored

and then I made the rest of them as raid 6

and now I'm having this message:

Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progress on Logical Drive 2. If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O is performed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve

what does it mean??

Windows 2012 Disk online errors after expand array and logical unit

I have two HP ProLiant servers with smart Array P420i. In both I have expanded an array and a logical drive. In the first the disc corresponding to the logical unit is basic and I was able to extend the volume without problem. In the second the logical drive corresponds to a dynamic disk and the Disk Manager has a warning triangle, is active, but with errors. ACU Diagnostics do not present any errors. Reactivating doesn't work. In diskpart the command online returns me "Disk is alredy online". I can't extend the volume until I fix this error.

need to get SATA power from inside DL360 G5

We recently installed a USB 3.1 PCIe expansion card in a Proliant DL360 Gen 5 server.  Now I've learned that it will not operate correctly until we attach a SATA power connector to the card.

Without cutting any wires, are there any power connectors inside this box that can be split and/or converted to a SATA power connector?

How much power can I expect to pull from the internal USB connector?

As a last resort, if I am forced to splice into some existing wires, we would be best point of connection?

when i update my servers in the hp update software Smart Update Manager (i think)  sometimes the updates fail and sometimes they dont. but if i make a group, it will almost allways fails.  any tips hints on the best way to have a good chance not to fail?  like "wait 10 minutes after everything is connected"  or something like that.  i dont have all the information on servers or even the software thats doing the updates  but my guess is its what everyone is doing. with hp proliant blade servers.  some hints before i ever have to do this again would be nice.    seems to be there is like 3 or 4 updates per server per update. and im talking around 24 or so servers.

HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 with Oracle Linux 6.9 UEK4 Kernel

 Hello Dear Sirs,

Did someone install Oracle Linux 6.9 on HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 with Xeon E5 v4 CPUs and used new default supplied UEK4 kernel based on 4.1 mainline?  There is issue similar to Bug ID 22389972 described on Oracle Release Notes. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37670_01/E69348/html/section_ist_zgx_jp.html

Server boots, but there is black screen. Settings various vga=791, vga=788, vga=794 parameters or nomodeset does not resolve the issue.

 RedHat compatible kernel works flawlessly.

Is Proliant G9 DL380 were tested with UEK4?

 Thank You in advance.

Hi,

I have an ML350 G6 server.  Everything works fine with just 1 CPU installed.  When I install the second CPU, the system will not post. Please note that this system was working fine with both CPU's installed and then just stopped.

I have another system that is still working fine. I swapped all the parts around and have come to the conclusion that the motherboard is not working with the second CPU.  Is there something that needs to be done in the BIOS or has the board failed.  I also have 2 other motherboards doing the same thing.

thanks

Drives could not be authenticated as genuine hp drives

Hello,

I've been in the process of updating the firmware and drivers for a number of ProLiant servers that we're running ESXi 6.0.0 U3 on and I'm running into a bit of a frustrating problem that I haven't found a solution to anywhere on the net. After I use the HP SPP (Specifically the 2017.04.0 version, the last to support the G8 series) to update these servers and apply the appropriate VMware drivers through the vCenter update manager I'm receiving the following error during POST:

One or more attached drives could not be authenticated as a genuine HP drive. Smart Array will not control the LEDs to these drives.

The drives in question are Samsung 840 Pro 256GB 2.5" SSDs installed using genuine HP drive sleds. I have a SmartArray P420i in these machines as well.

Prior to these updates these drives were having no issues with the SmartArray and the green LED indicator on the HDD symbol was lighting up just fine. Now the LED indicator on the drive sled is dark and only the occasional write indicator flashes on the outer ring of lights. There is also an amber light flashing on the power indicator, which I can only assume is being caused by this issue, since all of the hardware has checked out clean.

Has anyone else had this issue, has anyone managed to solve it? I'm very hesitant to continue updating the rest of the hosts because this has happened on each one that I've updated so far and it's quite annoying. Thanks for any help offered.

RAID rebuild will stop after 1-2% and stuck on "Ready for Rebuild"

Hello,

We have an DL180 G5 with Smart Array P400, and with 2 RAID5 arrays on it.

# hpacucli controller slot=6 ld all show

Smart Array P400 in Slot 6

array A

logicaldrive 1 (3.4 TB, RAID 5, Ready for Rebuild)

array B

logicaldrive 2 (199 MB, RAID 5, OK)
logicaldrive 3 (9.1 TB, RAID 5, OK)

we had a failed drive which we replace and that initiate the rebuild for array B,
but now we have array A stuck on "Ready for Rebuild" for few days now.

If i restart the machine, the rebuild process will start again, but will stop after 1-2% of progress.

All the PhysicalDrivers are ok

# hpacucli ctrl slot=6 pd all show status

DL580 G7 won't POST and there are no error logs being created in iLO3

I got a DL580 G7 that won't POST. No video comes up when connected directly to a monitor. The fans just spool up, a few lights flash, fans spool down, and the process repeats 4x before returning to standby with a red system health LED. I've reduced the system to a single CPU, a single PSU, and a single memory bay with only slots 1A and 8A filled. I can still get in through iLO3, but there are no logs in IML concerning any of these POST failures. I didn't have the system when it was running and I got it this way, so the stuff in IML is just old logs from before.

On the system board there is a 2-character alphanumeric display that I can't find referenced anywhere in any documentation for the server and is in fact not even on the illustrations of the system board found across various manuals. (But I can visibly see it on replacement boards for sale). This switches between 80 and 00 (or perhaps it's 08 and 00 but I can't tell which way it's supposed to be read). I'm not sure if this means anything, but I can't find any more information about it.

I've tried resetting the NVRAM via the maintenance switch, and that didn't get me anywhere. I read people referencing port 85 codes, but I can't find the 8 mentioned leds, or the switch to go between port 84/85. I don't have any idea of what I'm supposed to be actually be looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Intel AMT KVM Headless Operation

$

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has a solution to the following issue I encountered with my ProLiant ML10 Gen9 server.
The server itself supports the full set of Intel AMT functionalities (Xeon CPU) and it works as expected as long as a monitor is plugged in the DisplayPort.
As soon as the monitor is unplugged, however, the remote KVM goes blank. Connection to the server is unaffected aside from this so I guess that removing the display cable puts the Intel graphics in a power saving state that shuts down the output.

Any of you can offer ideas and/or a solution to this issue? I mean, having to keep a display plugged in at all times somehow defeats the whole idea of a server.

Please note: as there was a well documented vulnerability re. AMT on this server I have already updated both the firmware - to 1.07 - and Intel's ME toolkit - to 11.6.27.3264 - via the downloads made available by HPE.

Thanks in advance for your time!

How to install Oracle Linux 7.1 on HP DL 160 G9

Hi, would HP provide a step-by-step installation guide for Oracle Linux 7.1 on DL 160 G9? I'm trouble:

1) to identify storage (seems Oracle Linux see individual drivers instead my Raid 1 virtual disk)

2) cannot connect network during install (eno1 is not wired - but it is!)

3) default graphics install makes video weird, like a StarWars entrance story tell...

Your help will ge greatly appreciated.

Window Server 2016 Installation using Bootable USB in HP DL 380 G9 with Intelligent Provisiong

$

We have HP DL 380 G9 series server and trying to install Server 2016 OS using bootable USB which is UEFI compatible. When we are configuring RAID & selecting OS & bootable option then it is not detecting this USB at the time of OS Provisioning as bootable and simply showing files & folders present in this USB.

But with the same USB if we select this USB as 1st Boot option in Boot Manager (F11) then it starts installing Window Server 2016 OS. Problem with this type of installation is that it will not install HP drivers for NIC and other controllers and will show as unidentified devices in 'Device Manager'.

Micsrosoft SMB option is also not working as there is some problem coming in detection of Shared folder.
