Drivers Proliant DL 380p Gen8

hi,
I need a little help since I installed an operating system on the server and it does not recognize the network drivers. Where can I get them?

Expanding Raid Array: DL360 (733732R-001) With Smart Array P420i

Aparently I can only have 2 Logical drives on the DL360 Gen 8 (Product ID: 733732R-001) with the P420i?
Goal: Use all drives (4 X 120GB SSD, 1 X 800 SSD)

Had: 2 Raid 1+0 logical drives (with identical 120GB SSD Drives),.  I tried to add a 5th physical drive (800GB SSD Drive) with just a RAID 0 config, with the following results:
Recognized new drive in ACU, but no option to create array (could mark as spare, flash ID LED)
HP Smart Storage Administrator CLI recoginized drive - howver gave the error:  "Reason: Max array count reached" when executed create comand.

So:  Consolidated content onto 1st Raid drive A
Deleted Raid Drive B
Current configuration (2 unassigned drives to hopefully add to ARRAY A,  Create ARRAY B with 800GB)

assigned ARRAY A
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, Solid State SATA, 120 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, Solid State SATA, 120 GB, OK)

unassigned
physicaldrive 1I:1:3 (port 1I:box 1:bay 3, Solid State SATA, 120 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:4 (port 1I:box 1:bay 4, Solid State SATA, 120 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 2I:1:5 (port 2I:box 1:bay 5, Solid State SATA, 800 GB, OK)

Tried to add unassigned 120GB drives to A
In ACU:  Would only allow me to make a signle new array using the drives.   (No option to manage / expand)

In MCU, tried comand:  ctrl slot=0 array A add drives=1I:1:3-1I:1:4.  Results:
Error: This operation is not supported with the current configuration. Use the
"show" command on devices to show additional details about the configuration.
Reason: Transformation size zero. This may indicate that there is no battery or a failed battery on the controller.

According to my research, the 420i should permit this operation?

Dont want to start from scratch and restore from backup.  As of now, that appears to be my only option.  Very dissapionted in my P420i capabilites.   Am I missing some type of feature?  All suggestios appreciated!

2 x HP NC523SFP dual ported 10GigE in one server --- but only one port peer adapter is working

Hi,

we have 3 Servers and each server has 2 NC523SFP adapters. Windows 2012 sees 2 adapters but only one port per adapter. This is the case on all 3 servers. When we remove one adapter, then we can have 2 ports as it should be. We also tried it under Linux, same here. The adapters has the most actual Firmware.

Do you have any idea why this could happen?

Thanks for any idea!

Upgrade from one to two CPU

Hello,

I need to upgrade my server (Proliant DL380p G8) from one CPU sokect used to two.
I have no idea how to find out which CPU is installed on my server in order to know what CPU to choose for second one.
There seams to be two types of CPU:  715222-L21 and 715222-B21 (Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2609 0 @ 2.40GHz)
So, how do I find out which should I have to choose for the second CPU.

Thank you.

Bought DL380 G7 to learn, want to change raid controller

Hello,

I have bought an used DL380 G7 to learn.

I have put inside it some hdd unsupported (firecuda) and now fan goes crazy.

Someone suggested me that I can replace the 410i raid controller with a 420 one because it reads better disks temperature.

Now I ask:

- is it true?

- updating 410i firmware will solve my problem?

-should I buy a p420 or a p420i?

- can I recycle 410i super capacitor?

- how can I know how many pci-e expansions slot I have without opening the server?

Thanks  in advance,

Mario

Accessing Smart Storage Administrator remotely

I have a Hyper-V 2016 Server with Smart Storage Administrator installed on a Gen10 Proliant server. I can access SSA CLI on the Hyper-V Server. Is there anyway I can access SSA GUI from a remote Windows 10 client or other Windows server?

Use a Wildcard Certificate to secure a HP iLo

I have a pre-purchased wildcard certificate and want to use it to secure my iLo, how do I do it?

ML350 Recommended IP Installation Fails

Brand new ML350, (1) Xeon 2620v4, 64g memory, (2) HGST 2tb Raid 1 drives as boot drive, (4) HGST 4tb Raid 10 drives, all drives are LFF, LFF hot plug bay with drives occupying slots 1 - 6.

This is my first time with a HPE machine and I thought I followed all the initial setup procedures but there were entries for entering registration/licensing information that I do not have and assume I should have received that after purchasing the equipment.

After setting up the Raid arrangement and selecting the Recommended installation of Windows Server 2016 in Intelligent Provisioning, everything seems to be going as expected until the machine finishes installing the OS from the DVD.  It reboots and then blue screens right after the OS begins to load.  As a test, I did a 1 time boot and installed directly from the DVD and everything went off without a hitch.  The only problem with doing it this way is the myriad of drivers that do not get installed (couple page down keystrokes worth of drivers),  I would stay with this but I'm not sure if I will still get the same functionality I expect is there by going through the IP install.  Any recommendations?

DL380 G7, SSF, how can I get the firmware, upgrade?,being a NOBODY.

Please help:

I need the main board BIOS update Firmware  binary, file  (or ISO ,etc)

looks like I can get all software and firmware related, to my G7. (and did)

but not the ROM main, BIOS>update (in any form)

and not THE SPP ISO.  file.  G7 SPP, it even shows windows server 2016 there, wow.

seems if I could just get the ISO SPP, even paying for it, to HP , be good.

sorry for noob questions (only here), ! best wishes.

or this..

HP Ethernet 10gb 2-Port 570SFP+ adapter not recognized correctly in dl380 Gen9 or gen8

We wanted to upgrade our virtual infrastructure with a new networking infrastructure. Therefor we looked for a supported 10 GBit Ethernet adapter in the proliant servers quickspecs (dl 380 gen8 and gen9). We found the HP Ethernet 10gb 2-Port 570SFP+ adapter which was supported by the Hp aruba core switches and the servers, too.

Unfortunately we had a slightly suprising issue if we put the networkm adapters int the servers. The server only recognized the adapter as "PCIe device" and as "Network controller" without any further information. The operating system installed on the servers (VMware Vsphere 6.0 U3b) didn´t see any new network interface.

Our question in concern: Did we oversee any issue with this combination of network adapter and server? Do we have to initialize the network adapter by any installation routine? Or do we have to install any driver manually because the device isn´t recognized by Vsphere 6?

DL360p gen8 ilo 4 not available/responding

Hi all,

I purchased a used dl360p gen8 (v1, older version). Intelligent Provisioning and iLO 4 aren't working.

For Int.Prov., I could hit F10 during boot, but the system would beep twice and then reboot. Int.Prov. was/is enabled in BIOS. I tried updating the firmware using a usb drive and the usb iso utility (I tried 1.63, 1.62b, and 1.61). It seemed to finish for 1.63, but then F10 still had same behavior. The process wouldn't complete for 1.62b and 1.61 (said something about ilo4 was unreachable?). So I figured I would try to use iLO 4.

However, instead of the line that says to hit F8 during boot up to configure iLO4, it says that it's unavailable or not responding. It does give the ilo version as 2.20. I tried to connect to the IP address that shows up during boot; the web interface pops up, but I can't log in because it says "Connection with iLO cannot be established. If you recently made changes to the network configurations, you may need to refresh this page to re-negotiate an SSL connection.". I don't know the network settings other than the IP address because I can't access the ilo4 configurator. I tried flipping the security switch on the motherboard, but it doesn't seem to have done anything. Also tried unplugging for awhile and rebooting: nothing.

My guess is that a file on the flash is corrupted. Any idea how I can get iLO4 and Int.Prov. to work? Is there someway to reflash ilo4?

Thanks

Proliant DL380 G9 Intelligent Provisioning

I used Intelligent Provisioning to set up 5 Raid Arrays and load the OS. (Server 2012R2)

C: Raid 1, D: Raid 1, E: Raid 1, F: Raid 5, G: Raid 5 I double checked the Arrays and they are recognised in HP Intelligent Provisioning with the correct Raid settings.

When I re-booted into Windows 2012R2, Computer Management, Disk Management, the C: OS Drive shows as "Basic" and on line. All other Arrays were Off Line. I put the other Arrays on line and gave them drive letters. All Arrays are Healthy.  They also show as "Basic". Do I need to convert them to Dynamic Disk in Disk Management in order for Raid to work?

Thank you

ML10 iLo Support

The ML10 (837826-001) doesn't come with an iLo port built in, and I am trying to find an iLo add in card that is supported by this system.  Any suggestions?
