Replace with larger HDDs at running DL320e G8v2 with P222 Controller
Hi there,
Im searching for a solution to expand a running 4x300GB SAS RAID5 to 4x1200GB SAS without breakdown.
My idea was to connect an SAS cage to the external SAS port of the P222 controller, configure a new RAID5 with 4x1200GB SAS drives in this cage, clone the existing RAID5 incl. data to the new, shutdown the server and replace the internal HDDs with the new ones.
But I didnt know, if this is possible. How can I clone the old RAID with data? Can I replace the old drive with the new ones without loosing RAID config? Are there alternative ideas?

HP DL 380 G9 Partition restores itself
Hi,
in which way is it possible that definitely deleted partitions reoccur on the disk ?
We are using a HP dl380 G9 with a Smart Array P440ar Controller and Firmware 5.04 and a battery backed write cache.
I recreated the RAID, deleted partitions via gparted live disc, verified it, WROTE THE CHANGES to the disk, but then i found it again on the disk.
I have no idea why this happened.
The only way it was deleted afterwards after i simply installed a centos and after it was setup properly i wanted to do a new installation but did the partitioning via the setup gui manually.
Then i saw the partition vmfs_volume_member again and deleted it. From this point on the partition is gone.
The partition hold a boot efi from the previous esxi install.
It is mysterious to me. Does anyone have a clue how this could happen ?

Upgrade DL380Gen9 with Expander Card 726821-B21

I want to upgrade a DL380Gen9 server with the Expander Card 726821-B21 but I can find no instructions in which slot I need to install the card. The second drive bay must also be installed. Instructions for the wiring would not be bad either. Can someone help me there ? regards Holger

DL360p Gen8 - ILO 4 "close" port 80
Greetings,
After a scan with Nessus on DL360p Gen8 machines, with ILO 4 2.55 installed, port 80 is active and listening.
This is a big "NO NO" for PCI DSS compliance, and I need to close it.
When I try to access ILO via HTTP, I am redirected to HTTPS, so at least that's good
However, going to the ILO 4, Administration > Access Settings > Web Server Non-SSL port, I can change the port 80 to something elese, but I cannot disable it.
Strangely, I have another machine with ILO 4 2.55 as well, BUT a DL360 Gen 9 instead of 8 like the others, and this machine returns no open port 80 in nmap, while having the exact same configuration in Administration > Access Settings.
Can anyone shed some light?
How can I disable port 80 in ILO 4?

dl380 G7, iLo3, certificate errors.
I guess DL380 is legacy, (wild guess) the server is local only lan, the hardware file wall blocks all access to my Lan. from the www. and will never change this rule. a local only net.
all firmware fresh.on this Proliant box,
all things function great ;only the CA nags are problem. (and java issue , my guess, is CA caused)
Ilo3 question and it does works prefectly in all ways, but one (I love il03)
The remote (same subnet "intraNet" usage (firefox-v56 or edge or IE11) Windows 10-64 work station.
Certificate error: Navigation blocked CA errors and also JAVA errors,
in all three browsers, from w10 remote station, LAN. fail CA errors. (and i forced by pass ever time)
is there a simple way to set up local only lan certificates, correctly? only private Certificates?
Ive read 100s of pages on top, Certificates and go brain freezed! wow complex.

HELP DL380 G5 RAID array lost due to two failed hard drives
Where I work has an old G5 working as a share drive for the employees and if failed two drives. It has the P400 controller and when I run the HP Smart Start CD and array diagnostics I get... Bad news
"This logical drive has failed and cannot be used. All data on this logical drive has been lost."
I got some new drives before I started looking into this thinking that by replacing the bad ones it was possible to rebuild with the HP software but when I went to do that I received the error.
My obvious quesiton is how to fix this and get my data at least and at best the server working back to the way it was?

DL380P Gen 8 PCI expansion problem/question.
I am buulding out a 380G8 and need 4 open PCIe slots to accomodate the following in the primary pci riser position (slot 1): 1 x16 double-wide GPU installed on the double-wide PCI riser kit , this kit yields 2 x16 slots but you lose one due to the width of the gpu. That eliminates using the primary pci bus for any other cards, but I still have need for : 1 x16 slot for a quad m.2 ssd raid card, 1 x4 slot for a USB 3.0 card and 1 x4 slot for a SATA III adapter. I do have a secondary pci riser kit (used on slot 2), it's for another double wide gpu so has 2 x16 slots, one short of what I need. The stock riser for the primary pci bus has 3 slots, can I use this on the secondary pci bus? I once attempted to use the gpu riser kit for slot 2 on slot 1, but BIOS recognized this and halted booting, warning me that it was intended for slot 2. I can't seem to find any riser kits for the secondary (slot 2) position with 3 PCI slots on it. Please help!

DL380P G8 - Is Booting into Windows possible via PCIe NVMe SSDs?
The title says it all... I'm running Windows 10 currently, and looking to migrate booting from the original SFF SAS array to an NVMe based, PCIe 3.0 4xM.2 RAID card (ASUS Hyper M.2 X16). In some forums, I've heard you need UEFI support to install a bootable Windows OS onto PCIe NVMe drives, but I've heard conflicting stories as well. Has anyone attempted to use PCIe NVMe as a boot drive for Gen 8 boxes?

HP Microserver Gen8 RAM?
Hi all,
i've bought a Microserver Gen8 used, and want to upgrade the RAM. Right now there is only 4GB RAM inside.
On the RAM stands; "4GB 1Rx8 PC3L - 12800E - 11 - 13 - D1" and "HMT451U7BFR8A - PB TO AB 1532"
So if I want to upgrade to 8 or 16 GB what should i search for? And can i use "normal" RAM or?
My product number of the server is : 819185-421 can't find anything about which version/name this is.

ProLiant DL180 G5 Unknown & SATA RAID Controller Device
Hello,
I have a ProLiant DL180 G5 Server, before using Windows Server 2003 but cannot be directly upgraded to 2008r2, so I delete the system re-install 2008r2, the installation of the system after two drivers lost, so that only a few hard drive can not be identified, there are important Data, missing drivers are the following 2:
1.Unknown device (Value: ACPI \ HPI0002)
2.intel (R) ICH8R / ICH9R / ICH10R / DO SATA RAID Controller
I cannot find the driver that can be installed, I hope you can provide assistance, thank you

Need advice PLz
I have proliant DL380P GEN8 , I'm going to deploy sage 300 ERP system ,and use the sever to host the company's website..
I have 8 SAS HDD (2TP 10K SAS),
my questions plz:
1- what's the best RAID configuration for my HDDs?
2- Is it better to use HDDs in bay 1 & 2 as RAID 1 logical drive and install Windows server 2012R2 on each of them??.
3- Is there any way to protect my HDDs from damaging ,as the first 4HDDs sudenly stopped working and during powering the server on asked to replace them
any advice would be appreciated

ML350 onboard NIC not seen in BIOS or OS after installing Intel X520 nic
Not sure if this is the correct category.
I have two identical ML350 Gen 9 (835847-035) servers running Ubuntu. These were purchased in August.
The onbard NIC has been working fine with all 4 interfaces seen in the BIOS and by Ubuntu.
Today I installed a Intel X520-DA2 NIC on one of the servers. From Ubuntu the Intel card was shown in ifconfig but the onbard NIC was gone. The activity lights on the NIC were dead.
I checked in the BIOS and the onboard NIC was enabled but the description in the PCI Device Enable/Disable BIOS menu now just showed 'Embedded NIC'. On the identical other machine it shows 'Embedded LOM 1 : HP Ethernet 1GB 4-port 331i Adapter - NIC'.
I've tried enabling, disabling the onboard NIC, rebooting etc but the onboard/embedded NIC will not return.
Any ideas?

Gen9 DL380 - Can't install RedHat 7.4 using Intelligent Provisioning and Firmware Update broken
Hi. I couldn't find an answer to this anywhere so I'm hopeing someone can help please.
I have access to a new Proliant Gen9 DL380 (BIOS v2.42) with ILO 4 v2.50 (Intelligent Provisioning v2.50) installed. I've tried to use HPE Intelligent Provisioning to install RedHat 7..4 from an ISO on ILO virtual media. I can see the ISO image listed and select it but if I attempt to install from it, then it initially scans and then says "Unable to find any available media". The same thing happens if I try to install from a RedHat 7.3 image but if I select a RedHat 7.2 image it seems to work OK.
My assumption is that RH 7.3 and RH 7.4 are not supported by Intelligent Provisioning v2.50. Is that correct? Assuming it is then my next step was to try to do a server firmware update in the hope that this will upgrade the system to the latest version of ILO (v2.53) and Intelligent provisioning (v2.60). However when selecting "Firmware Update" from the Maintenance menu I get a message "Unable to contact update server" and a message saying that the site "hp.com" can't be contacted. This URL seems to be hard-coded when using the "HPE Web Site" System Software Update option but presumably it should now be connecting to a "hpe.com" website.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can point to the correct update server to allow me to upgrade and then do the installation of RedHat 7.4? I really want to sort out this and use Intelligent provisioning as it allows me the remote management automation I need.
