If I have 2 CPUs and 2 sticks of RAM is it OK to put each stick in slot#1 on each controller?
HP DL385 G7 RAM Population Question
DL385 Can It Boot With CPU#2 Only?
CPU Socket#1 has a bent pin or two and I cannot bend it back. I believe this is why it will not post. Is it possible to boot from CPU#2 only?
HP DL385 Won't Post
Hi guys this is not my machine but I've been tasked with troubleshooting it. I was told it had no RAM or CPUs (or maybe 1 CPU). In hindight I wish I had tried to just boot and post it with just the sticks of RAM installed because I cannot be certain if the machine was bad/working at any point for sure.
I learned something was wrong after I swapped the CPUs for upgraded 6276's and after those wouldn't post I thought I'd move the original CPUs back (thinking maybe the 61** series is supported but maybe the BIOS didn't support the 62** series) and noticed CPU socket#1 has at least a pin or two bent/stuck together (the CPU inserts just fine after trying my best to align/bend it back). I am not sure if I did this or if it was like that and it's why the server isn't booting.
I've tried different things like dipswitch setting #6 to on to clear NVRAM, I've also had 1,5,6 to on.
I have a green status light and no other errors but no post. There was a stage with the dipswitches on that i got a very long beep.
A few questions to double check my troubleshooting1) Can I boot exclusively with CPU#2?2) Which slots should the two sticks of RAM go into (is #1 on each memory controller OK)?3) I have HP branded PC3L-10600R RAM which I believe is supported one thing that makes me nervous is that the DIMMs do not seem to fit as snug to the side tabs as I would like no matter what I try (but have reseated them numerous times and they seem to be stuck in very well and not loose). Thanks for any help guys

Hello,
I'm trying to install Centos 7 on an HP ML110 4G by booting on USB Stick created with W32 DiskImager (with downloaded Centos iso).
impossible to boot from USB... here's what I tried :
- boot from usb stick on another desktop, it boots
-boot from an other USB stick built with windows diskpart and windows 10 on ML110, it boots
I think that the problem is on Advanced Chipset Control in BIOS configuration, I tried many combination but can't find solution. Can you help me please.

16 Gb FC HBA for Proliant ML 370 Gen 5

These are the list of documented FC HBAs for ML370 G5 server. I wonder if anybody have tried 16 Gb HBA FC card. If so which part number? Or else if anybody can point me to compatible 16 Gb HBA FC card for the given model, I really appreciate it!
DL365 (G1): SSD's?
I have a stack of First Generation (G1) HP Proliant DL385's (Performance Model, 411361-001) and would like to begin using a few of them as iSCSI SAN's by installing Linux. But I have three burning questions that I must answer before moving ahead:
- Can the p400i controllers be managed from the host O/S level? i.e., Is the HP Array Configuration Utility available for Linux? Which distros is it available for?
- Can I use something besides the SFF SAS HDD's (i.e., $A$) in the drive bays? i.e., Can I use less expen$ive HDD's in the drive bays? Can I use higher performance [SSD] HDD's in the drive bays?
- [If I choose to use the Linux MD driver to perform the RAID function at the host level, in software instead of using the p400i controller to perform the RAID function] I plan to configure all six of the HDD's in a RAID configuration (in order to maximize the storage capacity) and I assume that using some space on one of the HDD's for the O/S will have affects across the other segments of the array because each segment of the array must be identical in size. (Am I correct about this?) Can I increase the utilization of the HDD's by installing the O/S onto a USB flash drive and booting from that?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

ProLiant DL380 and NVIDIA NVS 315

Bad Memory Slot? (ProLiant DL385 G7)
Hello, I received an old ProLiant DL385 G7 for a project and I've mostly restored it to working order except for the memory.
I have 8x 8GB Dual Rank HP-branded memory which I have confirmed all work. But on (one side) I've noticed that the RAM slots 4 and 7 will not accept memory (even verifiably working memory).
So after discovering this I've just arranged my memory as follows (which gives me a total of 48GB):
Processor 1: [1, 4, 7, 10]
Processor 2: [1, X, X, 10]
Where X is an empty slot that should be populated according to the rules.
My questions are:
- Do I have bad memory slots?
- What could cause this?
- Can I fix this?
- Is it something else?
Thanks!
intelligent provisioning is not available???

SFP Network Card
On HP Proliant DL360 G5 can install a network card SFP with the below model
10Gtek for Intel E10G42BTDA 82599ES Chip 10GbE Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X520-DA2, PCI-E X8 Dual SFP+ Port
DL165 G7 quickspecs are all wrong.
According to these quickspecs for DL165 G7:
https://www.hpe.com/h20195/V2/Getdocument.aspx?docname=c04282737
http://h17007.www1.hpe.com/docs/iss/4AA0-6717ENW%20DL165%20Data%20Sheet.pdf
http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c02074307-5.pdf
It clearly says the Opteron 6276 is supported, however after buying 10 brand new processors for 5 servers we have, we discovered that non of the 62XX series are supported!
In this particular specsheet (which is almost identical as above, System Board is the same 603887-001 ), lists on page 25 AMD processor 6164HE as the maximum supported:
https://www.mrmemory.co.uk/downloads/memory-configurations/125831.pdf
So which one is correct? are two different system boards? or it's an error from HPE?
BitLocker has an error occurred (HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8)
hihi,
I am encountering an issue, when i was encrypting my drive C: with Bitlocker with the progress 100%, but there is an error occurred and prompted with message abourt "Run chkdsk /r". Then I tried to run at command prompt, but failed as there are something now processing. So I made it to run next time restart the server and the result is postive without any error found.
The Bitlocker screen showed requesting a key everytime I restart the server, then I insert the key and the Windows 2008 R2 loaded and I did authentication to the Windows with success. After entered into the Windows desktop the same BitLocker error prompted again. I realised to restart the server several times, it did the same.
I did information collection via command "manage-bde -status" about the encryptiong status, it showed "Percentage Encrypted: 100%", but "Conversion Status" Encryption Paused".
I also tried to paused the encryption via command "manage-bde -pause", it showed "The encryption is already paused" and I tried to resume the encryption, the only thing what I could do, it showed "Encryption is processing."
I couldn't figured out what is the problem, then I checked against the Windows event viewer and found an error message about BitLocker-Driver messaged "An error was encountered converting volume C:".
Even the error keeps prompt, but every services of the server are normal such as AD, DNS, file sharing services, NETLOG. Also the BitLocker lock icon is right on top of C:.
Eventually, I did decrypt of the C: by turning off the BitLocker, and the error went off. Could you help to investigate and advise please, thanks!

Multiple Hard Drives in the array showing as "Degraded (Not authenticated)"
We're seeing a degraded storage state on a couple of servers, due to multiple Hard drives in the array showing as "Degraded (Noth authenticated)".
IML consistently shows a "POST Error: 1709-One or more attached hard drives could not be authenticated as a genuine HP hard drive. Smart Array will not control the LEDs to these drives. Run ACU or ADU to learn which drives are valid or genuine."
In some cases, up to half of the HDDs show the degraded/not authenticated state. I'd venture to guess the HDDs are not necessarily faulty.
A sample ProLiant DL360p Gen8 server shows all multiple HDDs of HPE Spare Model EG0900FCVBL. Some of them show healthy, while others, of the same make/model, show that Degraded/Not Authenticated status.
We've upgraded firmware and software on this, sample server, to no avail.
Smart storage administrator version 3.10.3.0, and Embedded Smart Array P420i Controller Firmware Version 8.
Is there a fix to this issue?
HPE Proliant DL20 Gen9 Not detecting drives
I'm trying to install Windows 10 Professional (x64) but during the installion there are no drives detected.
I have two 1TB HP drives configured in RAID 1 through Intelligent Provisioning -> Perform Maintenance -> HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA)
The Raid controller is of type: Dynamic Smart Array B140i.
After I configured the array, I selected the new logical drive as bootable drive.
How can I get the Windows installation to detect the Logical drive?
