DL360 G9 - Stuck on HPE logo when boot to WinPE

Hello,

We've got 10 Proliant DL360 Gen 9 servers and I would like to deploy system image over PXE boot and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (latest version) from deployment share.

My problem is, that every time when server loads lite touch wim file, it stuck on splash screen with HPE logo. The circle just rotate one or two times then it freeze (image in attachment).

I've tried to download and inject all drivers from HPE Scripting toolkit but it does not work. I've also tried PXE boot and install into standard WS 2016 image and it works so I assume that problem is only in WinPE.

Anybody has similar problem? Can you help me wit that?

Thanks for all replies.

Server 2016 on ML 150 G5

I'm trying to install Server 2016 on an ML 150 G5 server. When it boots it shows the drives as individual drives instead of the virtual RAID drive.

IE (2) 500 GB drives in a RAID 1 do not show as 1 virtual drive, it shows as 2 individual drives.

I have looked for a BIOS update or a RAID driver but unable to find one. Any suggestions?

HP's new drivers search is horrible.

Hello everyone,

I have  a question, our company is going to buy a new server soon, the HP ProLiant ML150 Gen. 9. We did use a LTO-3 Ultrium 920 drive on old server.

Does anyone know if the LTO-3 Ultrium 920 drive is compatible with the HP ProLiant ML150 Gen. 9 we'd would like to order?

Thanks in advance.

ML350 G5 not recognizing my P800

I have recently acquired and have been upgrading an ML350 G5.  No matter what PCI express slot I put the P800 in, it is not recognized by the bios or the array manager. The LED's on the back and the card don't flash much, but the battery lights turn on and if I connect my tape drive to it, it starts to warm up. I don't know if it is a software or hardware issue. Any idea what it could be?

Does the card need external power?

Possibilities I see:

+ The card

+ The connector / cable

+ The firmware

+ The drivers / OS

SmartStart (8.7) - HP Insight Diagnostics: SMART Diagnostics

I've purchased some used HDD's in the past and recall that when I used the SmartStart CD to update the HDD firmware the HP Insight Diagnostics software would report the number of hours that the drive had already been in-use.. (I believe that this is part of the Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology as described in this Wikipedia page.).

Anyhow: I'd like to check this information again but it doesn't appear to be available in the version of HP Insight Diagnostics software that I'm currently using (SmartStart, v 8.7). The most detailed information about the HDD that is available in...

the HP Insight Diagnostics area,

inside the Survey tab,

under the Storage category,

using the Advanced View Level.

There's a field labeled Reference Time but the value that appears there doesn't seem valid (+175,000 on several of my HDD's).

Is there some way to get this information (without installing an operating system and running Crystal Reprts [MS Windows], HDD Expert [MS Windows], or SmartMonTools [Un*x])?

TIA!

Last night the Smart Storage Battery failed on our Gen9 server which caused an unexpected shutdown. Does anyone know why the battery failing would cause the server to shut down, we have batteries fail in the past and this has not happened.

Ideas?

HPE DL380 Gen9 and nVidia M4000 GPU

All I have a HPE DL380 Gen9 server that has the dual Xeon's.  I have the GPU riser and the GPU enablement kit for the server.  I purchased a Nvidia M4000 from HPE that was listed as the support GPU for this machine.  I have Windows Server 2016 installed on the box that is already up and running.  I following the instructions that were included in the enablement kit that walk through putting the GPU card and cables. in.  I have installed the latest drivers from Nvidia for Server 2016 and M4000.  When I open the device manager in Windows there is a Code 43 error that "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.".  I have contacted both Nvidia and HPE who point to each other.  I have swapped the M4000 out with a K5000 with no success.  I have uninstalled the drivers and used a couple revisions older.  There are several cables that came with the enablement kit that I could swap out.  But I am completely stumped as what to do next.  Has anyone had this issue.

The server info in detail:

  • HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9
  • 2xE5-2669v4
  • 1.5TB RAM
  • P440ar 8SFF
  • 2x800W Perf Server
  • BIOS version 2.52

Is there a quickstart document available that describes the system monitoring packages that should be loaded for a complete monitoring capability for a Proliant DL380 Gen 9 running Redhat Enterprise Linux 6?

I currently have the following installed:

hp-smh-templates-10.6.1-1481.4.noarch
hp-snmp-agents-10.61-2939.2.rhel6.x86_64
hpdiags-10.60.2199-2188.x86_64
hpacucli-9.40-12.0.x86_64
hpsmh-7.6.1-9.x86_64
hp-health-10.60-1838.1.rhel6.x86_64
hponcfg-5.1.0-0.x86_64

The issue that I am running up against is that hpacucli hangs. Machine is reasonable current with respect to SPP releases.

ML350 Gen10 - Offline Diagnostics?

$

We just got a ML350 Gen10 that's giving us a number of problems out of the box. I don't really feel the need to get into them, because I'm willing to write them off as annoying bugs, provided it passes diagnostics checks. Problem is that I can't find offline diagnostics anywhere. I know at one point, HP had Insight Diagnostics. Tried to find it through Smart Provisioning, but it's not there. Booted to the 2017.10.1 Service Pack, and it's not there either. Searched for a bootable .iso, I can find plenty of references to it, but I can't actually find it. The closest I can get is the "Active Health System Log" in Smart Provisioning maintenance, but that's something that's meant to be manually submitted to HP.

Do I have any options here? Or am I just supposed to spin it up with no assurances and hope it doesn't break despite numerous problems on day one?

PXE Boot from a PCIe NIC in Legacy Boot mode

Hello experts,

I have a HP DL380 G9 server with HP  Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 530T adapter. When the Boot mode in BIOS is selected to Legacy, I am not able to select the PCIe NIC for Network Boot. This NIC shows up in the Boot Order only when I select teh Boot mode to UEFI.

The PCIe device is enabled in BIOS. In Legacy BIOS mode, the PCIe NIC is disabled when selecting the Boot Order in BIOS. How can I enable the server to Boot from the PCIe NIC in Legacy BIOS mode?

Thanks in Advance,

Sudhir

Hi,

My DL380G8 developed a problem yesterday where by Intelligent Provisioning is not starting.  It was working fine earlier the same day, but now when I try and access it via pressing F10 on bootup, it starts the process (screen turns white, I see the "Loading Intelligent Provisioning" and percentage bar, it gets to 100% then the screen turns black and the system reboots.

IP is on version 1.50

Anyone know what's happening and how I can resolve this please?

Scripted media - connect iso via url on DL360 Gen9

I am trying to do a firmware upgrade on a Dl360 Gen9 using the hp powershell comandlets to mount an iso from a url (Mount-HPiLOVirtualMedia).

It works on G8 servers but not on the G9's.

Is there something different that needs to be done on the G9's when mounting an iso via a url.

It looks like the srrver is not seeing the ISO, just goes into a boot loop until I unmount the iso.
