HP DL380 Gen9 RAID 5

Hi There,

For VMware esxi installation RAID5 is recommended. I have two controller in HP DL380 Gen9 server (Brand New).

In my server there are 16 SAS drives each 900 GB. Two controller P440ar which is embeded and one added P440.

During RAID configuration through SSA in intelegent provisioning, i could see only 8 drives under controller P440ar and remaining 8 drives from another bay under controller P440.

Is this a normal behaviour or each controller will show all 16 drives for array creation.

Normally how long does it take for array creation (RAID5).

When I connect cable directly to my laptop, everything works

But when I CONNECT the cable from the Cisco module TO switch or the  mikrotik or anything else it does not work and led network card  not turn it.

What should i do؟

I'm using the converter sfp to rj45 module type cisco GLC-T  I used under the image:

Hello everyone,

I have  a question, our company is going to buy a new server soon, the HP ProLiant ML150 Gen. 9. We did use a LTO-3 Ultrium 920 drive on old server.

Does anyone know if the LTO-3 Ultrium 920 drive is compatible with the HP ProLiant ML150 Gen. 9 we'd would like to order?

Thanks in advance.

Where to find System software for DL360 G4p

I have a DL360 G4p that needed the system board replaced. I do not have any of the disks that came with the system. I used the original processor over again. It is a single Xeon 3.4GHz, 2MB Cache L2 processor. I am receiving “Unsupported Processor Detected. System will only boot ROMPAQ Utility. I cannot get to the BIOS Setup no matter what I try. Finding any support software is very poor at best. I got sent to a non-English site and if I try to download what I thought was the file I needed. I could not because I need a contract to access the file.  I am hoping someone could guide me through my issue.

Thank you,
 Ken.

C-T-O DL360 G10 Crashing repeatedly Server 2016

System is a Dl360 with dual Xeon Gold 5122, 192gb ram, 2x 600gb

Installed Windows Server 2016 Standard using Intelligent Provisioning. Despite IP asking me questions like time zone, network settings, admin password, none of that worked. When Windows setup booted it was like a normal bare metal install.

Then the crashing started. It crashed a few times during install, and crashes repeatedly now on the bench.

I've run the 2017-10 SPP, didn't help.

The error from ILo is "uncorrectable machine check exception in CPU 2"

ILo health status is showing CPU and Memory as "degraded"

The machine has reported this to HPE support but I haven't heard from them.

Since this is a CTO box I can't just return it for refund or can I? How can I trust this machine down the road if it was delivered with hardware faults?

There is a missing package in the SPP 2017.10 RHEL7 repository. If you look into the filelist.xml file the following package is listed:

<package pkgid="5e6fdc6cf4d70a730197e62846b4f9c969962bf2" name="firmware-system-i36" arch="i386"><version epoch="0" ver="2.52_2017_10_25" rel="1.1"/><file>/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/firmware-system-i36-2.52_2017_10_25-1.1/.cpq_package.inc</file><file>/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/firmware-system-i36-2.52_2017_10_25-1.1/.hpsetup</file><file>/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/firmware-system-i36-2.52_2017_10_25-1.1/CP033722.xml</file><file>/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/firmware-system-i36-2.52_2017_10_25-1.1/I36_2.52_10_25_2017.signed.flash</file><file>/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/firmware-system-i36-2.52_2017_10_25-1.1/hpsetup</file><file>/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/hp-scexe-compat/CP033722.scexe</file><file type="dir">/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/firmware-system-i36-2.52_2017_10_25-1.1</file><file type="dir">/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/hp-scexe-compat</file></package>

It is also listed in the primary.xml:

But this package does not exist. This breaks our repo-sync job, because it complains about wrong checksums (404 page instead of a rpm package).

Please fix this.

What is "FTSOPTIMIZE" during the Initial Setup of a HPE Gen10 server ?

$

Hello, first time setting up a Gen10 server and during the initial setup of the Intelligent Provisioning I stumbled across 'FTSOPTIMIZE'.

I could choose one of these three options: FTSGENERAL, FTSFILE, FTSVMWARE

and had these two sliders below: FTSENABLEF10 and FTSENABLEFW

So I figured out that FTSENABLEF10 will enable/disable the 'F10' key used to get into the Intelligent Provisioning during startup. However, I have no idea what any of the other options is supposed to do. I consulted the "Intelligent Provisioning User Guide for HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers and HPE Synergy" but the words 'FTS' isn't even in there. In the chapter for the initial setup it simply reads :

6. Automatically optimize your server.

Google was unexpectedly unhelpful, and even searching on the HPE site returns no results. What is this option supposed to do ? What option am I supposed to choose ?

Thanks for the help

, here is my problem: I'm using ILO5 Firmware 1.10 and I'm trying since ours to configure alert mail with my Exchange. ILO 5 is sending the alert mail, but my exchange could not accept ist, because the sender-mailadress (generated by the ILO) is in a wrong format like testman.@abc.de. I got that information from the log-file of my exchange-server. There's no way to delete the "." in front of the @. I tried different host-names an sender domains, but it's still the same problem.

Thanks for your help!

3rd Party eSATA Controller Card Not Recognized

New ML350 G9 E5-2620V4 Xeon CPU,  Windows Server 2016 Standard installed.  Hot plug drives include (2) SAS Raid 1 drives for OS and (4) SAS Raid 10 drives for data.  This machine has replaced our aging 2008R2 server and all has been good with the exception of not being able to utilize our existing 5 drive external SATA drive tower.  I purchased a Addonics AD4ES6GPX4 PCI card which according to the mfg, will work in x4, x8 or x16 PCI slots.  After the successful installation of the OS, the device is not listed in the Windows device manager nor are the 5 data drives displayed in the hard drive resources.  These are configured simply as JBOD drives and used to store client backup files.  I do not know if this is an issue with Windows Server 2016 or if it is an issue with the system board not supporting the card.  Mfg states that it should work but may have to wait until Microsoft releases additional updates for drivers.  Apparently, according to Addonics, the controller card utilizes the built-in Windows AHCI driver but I simply cannot get it to be recognized.  Any ideas?  HP support will not address this due to it being a 3rd party controller.

DL360 G7 Memory Configurations - Mixing DDR3 and DDR3L

$

Hi all,

My DL360 G7 are now having 2GB ECC RDIMM * 4 + 4GB ECC RDIMM * 2, so total 16GB RAM spread across all channels (dual CPU installed), one DIMM per channel, all dual ranks, standard voltage DIMMs.

I want to add more RAM to my sever. According to the following page, for 2 DIMM Per Channel (That's the only option for me as I already have 6 RDIMM installed), Dual-Rank 16GB RAM will run at 1333MHz for Standard Voltage, or 1066MHz at Low Voltage.

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02208506

Now, I want to keep my memory speed at 1333MHz, am I only allowed to purchase Standard Voltage 16GB 2R ECC RDIMM? Or I can still buy the low voltage one as I have standard voltage RDIMM shared in the channel (LV RDIMMs should still able to operate at 1.5V standard voltage)? Or there is option in RBSU that I can force the new LV RDIMMs to run at Standard Voltage to achieve 1333MHz?

Thanks.

I believe that I am missing some drivers/software for this. Unfortunately the software center is not that friendly enough for me to decipher what I am missing.

For the server which has missing components runs on WIN 2012 R2.

Much love if a kind chap could point me to the right software/driver to install
